Horror Camgirl - Ch. 29: More Troubles
Wei Ran entered the medicinal bath, soaking for a full four hours this time. He probably realized from last time that the bath could strengthen his muscles and bones, which was beneficial for martial arts training, so he wanted to absorb more of its medicinal properties.
I really admire him; he has great perseverance. Surely, he will achieve high ranks in martial arts in the future.
After this medicinal bath, the internal injuries in his Dantian were completely healed, and his physical strength had significantly increased.
Having finished his tasks, I naturally planned to say goodbye, but Wei Ran suddenly stopped me. His attitude had improved significantly, probably wary of my master behind me.
"Madam Yuan, are you interested in attending this year's annual Treasure Appraisal Conference?" he asked.
"Treasure Appraisal Conference?" I was completely puzzled.
Wei Ran explained, "Every year, the upper echelons of Shan City hold a Treasure Appraisal Conference where everyone showcases their treasures for evaluation, and the best item is selected as the 'King of Treasures.'"
That piqued my interest. I'm not usually keen on elite circles, but attending to see the world and view the treasures seemed worthwhile.
He handed me two invitations, saying, "This year, it’s our Wei family's turn to host the Treasure Appraisal Conference. If Madam Yuan or your esteemed master are interested, it would be an honor for us to have you attend."
So, that was his real intention—to meet my master.
I took the invitations and said, "I'll inform my master, but he usually prefers tranquility over activity, so he might not come."
Wei Ran smiled, "Madam Yuan, your presence alone would be an honor."
He sure knew how to speak well.
When I got home, I planned to invite Tang Mingli to come with me, but before I could call him, he called me first.
He too was asking if I wanted to attend the Treasure Appraisal Conference and had prepared an invitation for me.
I agreed, and then remembered True Lord Zhengyang. I thought of repaying him by inviting him to the event. I left him a message, and he replied that night saying he was somewhat interested, but couldn't make it. He suggested I bring my phone and have a video chat instead.
Looking in the mirror, after the incident at the KTV last time, two tumors had disappeared from my face, leaving the entire right side of my face as smooth as new, but the left side still had four or five tumors, looking quite frightful.
Covering my left face and only looking at my right, my skin was white as snow, and my eyes were phoenix-shaped, slightly elongated with a hint of allure.
This appearance could rival any celebrity.
But with the left side, it was a stark contrast, making me look like a different person.
I sighed. At least there was hope, right?
Someday, I would become an unparalleled beauty.
The day of the Treasure Appraisal Conference arrived, and I wore my best outfit, texting Tang Mingli that I was heading out first before catching a rideshare to the venue.
The venue was styled like an English mansion, resembling the Palace of Fontainebleau—a surprising find in Shan City.
Looking around, everyone was driving luxury cars and dressed in fine clothes, except for me who had arrived by rideshare.
Feeling somewhat out of place, I was about to leave, but then remembered my promise to True Lord Zhengyang. I couldn’t go back on my word, so I started a video call, put on my Bluetooth earpiece, and headed to the entrance.
The door staff stopped me and said coldly, "Please show your invitation."
I handed over the invitation, and seeing Wei Ran's personal seal on it, the staff's demeanor immediately warmed, "Oh, it's an esteemed guest. Please, come in."
Wei Ran had issued fewer than ten of these invitations, each recipient being a person of significant influence. Although the staff usually judged by appearance, they understood that some wealthy people had peculiar habits like dressing down.
Inside, the venue was lavishly decorated, a bustling scene of mingling and feasting.
True Lord Zhengyang remained silent, unimpressed by the spectacle.
I picked up a glass of red wine from a waiter's tray and took a small sip. Hearing that the Treasure Hall was already displaying numerous items, I decided to take a look, but then I heard a voice behind me.
"Yuan Junyao?"
I frowned and turned around, facing a face familiar yet strange.
Si Xiu, who once pretended to be my friend in junior high, tricked me into writing a love letter to the most handsome boy at school, then blamed me, embarrassing me in public.
I never expected to see her here.
Reportedly, her father was successful in international trade.
Today, she was dressed in an elegant white dress with a valuable pearl hairpin clearly visible in her hair.
"Si Xiu, who is she?" Standing next to Si Xiu was a girl, equally beautiful but with an even prouder demeanor.
Si Xiu smiled, "She's a junior high classmate I haven't seen in years. But her family's situation isn't great; they often struggled even with tuition fees. I'm surprised to see her here today."
"Why is she wearing a mask and a hat?" the girl asked.
"Because her face is covered with tumors, it's quite disgusting," Si Xiu pulled the girl away, saying, "Nana, let's go, don't get too close to her, you might catch something from the tumors."
Her mentioning this stirred up Wei Na, who exclaimed, "All the guests today are important figures. Our family went to great lengths to organize this Treasure Appraisal Conference well. If other guests knew someone like her was allowed in, it would be disastrous!"
She stepped forward, pointing at my nose, and demanded, "Tell me, how did you get in here?"
As we were speaking, suddenly a tall young man approached, and my heart skipped a beat—it was Chen Dongnan, the school heartthrob from back then.
He reached out and grasped Si Xiu's shoulders, saying, "Si Xiu, Nana, who has upset you both so much?"
Si Xiu smiled and said, "Dongnan, look who's here."
Chen Dongnan glanced at me, his face showing utter surprise, and said, "You, you're that Yuan Lai Zi from back then?"
Yuan Lai Zi was a nickname they gave me, always so malicious.
Si Xiu added spitefully, "Back then, she even wrote you a love letter. Don’t you two want to catch up?"
Chen Dongnan's expression turned to extreme disgust and he said, "Don't bring that up, it makes me sick. You don’t know, after receiving that love letter, I couldn’t eat for a month. If you mention it today, I probably won't be able to eat for another month."
Si Xiu covered her mouth, laughing lightly, while Wei Na was furious: "So, it's a shameless thing, looking so ugly and still daring to write a love letter. How could someone like you attend our family’s Treasure Appraisal Conference? Waiter, come here."
Her voice was loud, drawing many eyes.
A handsome man dressed in waiter's attire came running over, respectfully saying, "Miss, what can I do for you?"
Wei Na pointed at me with disgust, saying, "Throw her out; she's got a vile disease, don’t let her infect others."
Hearing I had a vile disease, the crowd instinctively stepped back.
"How did such a person get into the Wei Family’s Treasure Appraisal Conference?"
"Did she sneak in?"
"If just anyone can sneak in, wouldn’t our treasures be in danger?"
Hearing this, Wei Na's face changed instantly, and she loudly commanded, "Quickly, seize her and find out who let her in. Hand them all over to the police. Our Wei Family always prioritizes safety."
The waiter nodded, called two security guards, and they rushed towards me.
True Lord Zhengyang then spoke: "Girl, strike them three inches below the ribs on their right."
I had never fought anyone before, but this was a good chance to test my recent boxing practice.
As one of the security guards approached, I ducked and punched fiercely three inches below his ribs.
The punch, imbued with a hint of Spiritual Energy, made the guard groan and fall to the ground. The other was stunned; I quickly turned around, dashed behind him, and struck the same spot.
He fell to the ground, and everyone was stunned, including Si Xiu and Chen Dongnan.
Wei Na glared: "You dare to assault someone? Men, get her! Teach her a harsh lesson, but don’t kill her!"
As the guards pounced on me like wolves, suddenly a stern shout rang out: "What are you doing?"
The guards froze, immediately stood straight, and said, "Family Head."
Wei Ran walked over, dressed in a formal suit, looking distinguished and poised.
His eyes flashed with anger as he swept his gaze over the guards, who shivered, not daring to lift their heads.
Wei Na quickly ran over: "Uncle, this ugly woman sneaked in, she must be here to steal something. She even hurt our people; I was just about to kick her out."
Wei Ran glanced at her coldly and said, "How dare you speak to Madam Yuan like that!"
Wei Na was shocked, thinking she had misheard: "What? You want me to apologize to this ugly woman?"
"Silence!" Wei Ran shouted, "If you continue to be rude, don’t blame me for being harsh. Your allowance for next month will be halved."
Wei Na felt deeply wronged, tears swirling in her eyes, but she held back and, gritting her teeth, said to me, "Madam Yuan, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
I replied indifferently, "No harm done, I don’t take it personally with children."
As if deeply insulted, her face turned pale and her eyes bore venomous hate, as if she could burn a hole through me.
Fearing she might say something irreparable, Wei Ran angrily ordered, "Go back to your room."
She turned and ran out, tears in her eyes, wishing she could tear me apart.
For some reason, I felt incredibly satisfied.
