Horror Camgirl - Ch. 36: The Terrifying Sword

These ghosts were all charred and rotting. The Chemical Gas that leaked back then burned human skin, giving it a scorched appearance. The most terrifying part was that once inhaled, it would burn the respiratory system, suffocating a person to death.

The victims from that time died in a very tragic manner. Their vengeful spirits have lingered in the factory for many years, evolving into Resentful Ghosts.

With my current strength, dealing with so many Resentful Ghosts is simply impossible.

“Ming Li, lend me your phone.” I took Tang Mingli's phone and quickly logged into my Black Rock Account, reopening the Live Stream Room.

...

“Everyone, as you can see, I’m still alive,” I said. “However, I probably won’t be for much longer.”

I swept the phone's camera across, revealing countless ghosts on the screen.

“Everyone, wish me luck.” I searched for True Lord Zhengyang's account to request a call, but there was no response on the other end.

Looking at it, he wasn’t online at all.

It’s over; it seems fate is against me today.

Just when I felt despair, a ringtone suddenly went off. I looked, and it was a friend request from someone named “Huang Shan Jun.”

I immediately accepted and connected the call.

“Young Lady, that old man True Lord Zhengyang told me to watch your live stream. Pretty impressive,” said a youthful voice that sounded like a teenager, but since he spoke with True Lord Zhengyang, he must also be someone remarkable.

“Please, senior, help me!” I pleaded immediately.

“Hahaha, I love it when young ladies ask me for help! Come on, beg me a little more,” Huang Shan Jun said nonchalantly.

I was speechless and had to croak out, “Brother Huang Shan, I’m begging you, please save me!”

“Alright, if you call me ‘big brother,’ I’ll help you out!” he replied. “Tonight, the Yin Qi is especially strong, and women belong to the Yin category, which means it's the perfect time to fend off these ghosts. Let’s draw blood and create a boundary!”

I quickly cut my palm and used the blood to draw a circle around the three of us.

The ghosts charged at us, but it was as if an invisible barrier held them back. Huang Shan Jun continued, “You have Thunder-Struck Wood and Centennial Peach Wood in your hand, which is very powerful, but you don’t know how to use it. Channel your Spiritual Energy into it!”

Following his instructions, I poured all my Spiritual Energy into the Peachwood Sword. Suddenly, the Thunder-Struck Wood sword emitted a faint metallic sheen. I raised the sword and pointed it at the five or six Resentful Ghosts in front of me, saying, “The Supreme Lord Laozi teaches me how to slay ghosts; I am blessed with divine methods. I call upon the Jade Maiden to capture the unclean spirits. Divine Master, strike down without fear, first eliminate the Vengeful Ghosts, then cut down the Night Spirits. Which god does not submit, which ghost dares resist? Quick, as commanded!”

As I spoke the word "command," a beam of golden light shot from the tip of my sword, striking the group of Resentful Ghosts. They emitted chilling cries, turning into black smoke and swirling into my mouth and nose.

A path opened before me; I had exhausted my energy and shouted, “Run!” before my body went limp.

Tang Mingli hoisted me up and dashed out, recklessly breaking through the factory gates.

Boom!

A thunderous explosion erupted from the factory, and flames and thick smoke billowed into the night.

I felt utterly weak and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve already called the police. They should provide a satisfactory outcome.”

After saying that, I didn’t check the comments and directly closed the Live Stream Room.

At this point, I was completely drained and fell into a deep sleep in Tang Mingli’s arms.

I woke up two days later, lying in Tang Mingli’s home. He sat at the bedside, looking a bit haggard.

I moved my limbs; after two days, my body had completely recovered, and surprisingly, my Spiritual Energy had even increased.

Using up all my Spiritual Energy can be exhausting, but it also increases my spiritual power. No wonder True Lord Zhengyang said that strength improves through battle.

“How did it go?” I asked.

Tang Mingli said, “The police have been investigating the ruins for two days and have preliminary results.”

He turned on the TV, which was broadcasting a press conference. The police announced that in the 1990s, a group of criminals led by Deputy Factory Director Huang Qiuhua had established a Secret Chamber within the factory, using their technological advantages to manufacture and sell drugs.

Later, the chemical plant was on the verge of bankruptcy and auction due to mismanagement, and Huang’s crimes were discovered by the old factory director and some workers. To evade responsibility, he deliberately leaked toxic gas, causing the deaths of several workers that night.

I frowned; drug manufacturing?

It couldn’t be that simple. Yin Shengyao wouldn’t have attempted to steal drug manufacturing data, considering that anyone with a bit of chemistry knowledge could create it.

Tang Mingli handed me a tablet, saying, “I captured this from the footage of your live stream.”

I looked and saw that it was footage from when we first entered the factory, capturing the ghosts in that brightly lit office.

“Look at the documents on the table.” He enlarged the image. “Your phone captured it very poorly, so I had someone restore the photo using the most advanced equipment.”

The documents were filled with formulas and English words, all of which I couldn’t recognize.

“What is this?”

Tang Mingli's expression grew serious. “I invited the best scientists in the country to take a look. They said this is about manufacturing a drug that can develop human potential.”

I gasped, “Develop potential? Could it be superpowers?”

“It's quite possible,” Tang Mingli said. “But unfortunately, there’s too little information.” He paused and asked me, “The person who kidnapped you at the time—did you really not see his face?”

Recalling Yin Shengyao's threats made me feel cold all over, and I quickly shook my head. “Inside the Secret Chamber, it was pitch dark; how could I see anything?”

He looked disappointed.

Having not visited my brother in the past few days, I felt uneasy and decided to bid farewell to Tang Mingli, declining his offer for a ride and taking the bus to the hospital myself.

The bus TV was also reporting news about the Chemical Plant. The reporter mentioned that near the Chemical Plant, the police discovered a person stripped of clothing. When they found him, he had been knocked unconscious and was in a coma, speculated to be a homeless man.

I didn't pay much attention at the time.

Upon entering the ward, I saw Shen Anyi lying quietly on the pristine white hospital bed. The nurse had taken good care of him; he looked clean and peaceful, as if he were merely sleeping.

My heart ached, and I gently stroked his forehead, taking out the Healing Pills.

This medication can heal external injuries, and since An Yi was in this state due to physical harm, I wondered if it would be effective.

I gritted my teeth and pushed the pill into his mouth.

I sat by the bedside for an entire day but still couldn’t wait for Shen Anyi to wake up.

It really doesn’t work.

I couldn’t directly ask True Lord Zhengyang and the others for help, as it might anger them, and I would lose any chance of support. I could only continue streaming, hoping to win their favor; perhaps one day they would reward me with a recipe that could cure An Yi.

“You are Mr. Shen’s sister.” Just then, the doctor came to check on the patients. I quickly stood up to greet him, “Hello, Doctor Qin.”

Doctor Qin’s full name was Qin Ai, a rare name. I checked the dictionary and found it was pronounced “ai.”

Doctor Qin was quite handsome, tall and well-proportioned in his white coat. He was said to be the heartthrob among the nurses in the hospital.

“Doctor Qin, thank you for taking such good care of An Yi,” I expressed my gratitude.

He waved his hand dismissively. “You are Tang Shao’s friend, so you are my friend too. However… your brother’s condition is a bit strange.”

My heart sank. “What do you mean?”

“From his examinations, his injuries have almost healed, and his brain CT shows no problems, but he remains in a deep sleep and has not woken up. In my eight years of practice, this is the first time I’ve seen such a situation.” He sighed.

I felt a surge of panic; no wonder the Healing Pills had no effect on him.

He helplessly continued, “It could be a psychological issue. He might not want to wake up. For now, we’ll just observe.”

I felt a bit lost. Doctor Qin hesitated for a moment before saying, “Some things cannot be explained by science. Madam Yuan, you need to prepare yourself mentally.”

I was taken aback. What did Doctor Qin mean by that?

True Lord Zhengyang’s pamphlet stated that a living person who remains unconscious might have their soul out of their body. If the soul does not return within seven days, it would lead to certain death.

If it wasn’t an out-of-body experience, could it be soul damage?

I anxiously tugged at my hair. If only I understood medicine better; after all, I was too weak.

Suddenly, I heard commotion outside. Stepping out, I saw a family member of a patient grabbing Doctor Qin by the collar and yelling.

I asked an elderly woman who was watching, “What’s going on?”

She sneered, “That man’s mother had a brain hemorrhage and is in ICU. He wants to go in, but the doctor won’t allow it. Can just anyone enter ICU? This family is a typical case of medical disturbance; this isn’t the first time they’ve caused trouble.”

Doctor Qin was patiently explaining something, but the burly man swung his fist at him. He dodged aside, and the man missed, crashing into the wall and hitting his head, blood gushing out.

Now they had stirred a hornet's nest. The entire family, both men and women, rushed forward, grabbing at Doctor Qin and shouting, “The doctor hit someone!”

“What’s going on here?” a stern voice boomed. The family halted, angrily shouting back, “Who are you?”
