Horror Camgirl - Ch. 38: Tang Shao's Peculiarities
At that moment, a black Range Rover Evoque sped in, blocking the narrow alleyway. Tang Mingli jumped out: “Let her go!”
Master Dong pulled me close, his fingers gripping my neck with enough pressure to snap it at any moment.
“Get lost!” he said in a low voice. “Otherwise, I’ll kill her!”
With a twist of his wrist, Tang Mingli revealed a sharp dagger in his hand. “You can’t escape. Put her and that box down, and I’ll let you leave.”
Master Dong laughed loudly. “Is that box your goal too? A year of longevity, restoring the body to peak condition—it truly is a treasure. How could I ever let it go?”
He looked down at me and smiled. “You want to give this fine thing to your lover? Hahaha, don’t forget, with that ugly face of yours, will he even look at you?”
A pang of hurt shot through me, but I stubbornly retorted, “What does it matter to you?”
“Indeed, it’s none of my business, but I do enjoy watching the excitement.” He turned to Tang Mingli. “I’ll keep the box and take the person. How about that?”
Tang Mingli replied coldly, “I want both the person and the box.”
“Kid, don’t be so greedy,” Master Dong said.
At that moment, horns blared from both exits of the alley—a garbage truck and a closed truck, both large vehicles.
A sly smile flickered in his eyes as he pushed me and the box in opposite directions, sending us crashing towards the vehicles.
Save me, but not the Longevity Water; save the Longevity Water, but not me.
I shut my eyes, knowing Tang Mingli would surely choose the Longevity Water. I couldn’t hold onto any hope—greater hope only meant greater disappointment.
Suddenly, a pair of hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me into his embrace.
I looked at him in disbelief—he really chose me?
Master Dong sneered as he grabbed the box. “You actually chose this woman? Tang Shao, your taste is too heavy, hahahaha.”
He laughed heartily and left, while Tang Mingli asked with concern, “Are you okay?”
I shook my head and said, “Aren’t you going to chase him?”
Tang Mingli’s gaze turned cold. “He can’t escape.”
I hesitated, lowering my head to say, “Thank you for choosing me.”
His cheeks flushed suspiciously, and he awkwardly turned away. “The Longevity Water can be refined again; if you’re gone, who will make the medicine?”
“But there’s only one leaf of the Lan Guizhi,” I reminded him.
His face turned even redder. “Enough! I’ll save whoever I want!”
I felt a warmth in my heart and led him to the bottom window of my house, parting the dense grass around my ankle to reveal a cluster of jade vials hidden inside.
“I switched the medicine in the box,” I said. “That scrawny guy only got a box of stones.”
Tang Mingli’s face lit up with joy. “As expected of my partner.”
I started organizing the jade vials while he checked on his two injured subordinates. I leaned over and asked, “How are they?”
“Not good,” Tang Mingli said, his face serious. “I’ve already called for the family ambulance.”
After a moment’s hesitation, I took out the Healing Pills and said, “Scrape a little off and dissolve it in water, apply it to their external wounds, and take the rest internally. It should be enough to save their lives.”
Tang Mingli was surprised but followed my instructions. Almost instantly, their external wounds began to scab over. The internal injuries were more troublesome, but the medicine was slowly healing their organs. The two men, who had been on the brink of death, regained their lives.
“Jun Yao, you always manage to surprise me,” he said, glancing around. It was still dark, and the surrounding houses couldn’t see much. Even if they did, he could make them keep quiet.
“Jun Yao, remember, this healing medicine must not be known to a third person,” he said seriously.
I nodded, just as the Guo Family ambulance arrived. The two bodyguards were taken to the hospital, and Tang Mingli drove me to the Guo Family estate.
He informed me that Old Master Guo, the head of the Guo Family, was critically ill, and the family had been secretly searching for life-saving Spiritual Medicine during this time.
In his youth, Old Master Guo earned his reputation through his fists and held a high position in Shan City’s Underground Forces. The Guo Family's current standing was entirely due to his hard work. If anything were to happen to him, the Guo Family would lose its pillar, and it would fall apart in an instant.
“Jun Yao, Old Master Guo has helped my mother and uncle; I must save him,” Tang Mingli said. “I’ve bought all the Longevity Water—name your price.”
I hesitated, wondering how much I should ask for.
Tang Mingli seemed to sense my dilemma and said, “Five million per bottle, a total of fifty million. How about that?”
Fifty million?
I was stunned.
Fifty million—a figure I wouldn’t have dared to imagine before.
I stared blankly for a while before cautiously asking, “Isn’t that too much?”
He smiled and replied, “The Reishi Mushroom you used to trade for Osmanthus Orchid leaves was worth over ten million. Plus, with other precious herbs added, fifty million is a huge profit for me. Old Master Guo values my uncle highly and intends to groom him as his successor. As long as he can live another year, my uncle’s position will be more secure. Fifty million is just a drop in the bucket.”
I sighed inwardly, realizing just how profitable alchemy could be. No wonder the protagonists in fantasy novels about cultivating immortality are all alchemy masters.
The fifty million quickly transferred to my account, and I stared blankly at the long string of numbers on my phone.
Am I a millionaire now?
This was all thanks to the generous rewards from True Lord Zhengyang and several other masters who had gifted me such precious herbs and formulas. I felt immensely indebted to them.
I must find an opportunity to repay this favor.
I left a message for True Lord Zhengyang, feeling nervous as I expressed my uncertainty about how to repay his kindness. There was no response, likely because he had gone out to handle some business.
The Guo Family is a prominent family. After the old master fell ill, he moved back to the old family home in the suburbs to recuperate. The house, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, exuded a historical aura with every brick and tile.
I discussed with Tang Mingli that we couldn’t disclose the origin of the medicine to anyone; we could simply say I was his friend.
Tang Mingli’s uncle had been waiting by the door for quite some time. He resembled Tang Mingli but exhibited a bit more of the steadiness and refinement that come with middle age.
“Have you brought the things?” Guo Tianfeng approached us.
Tang Mingli patted the bundle in his hand, and Guo Tianfeng’s face lit up with joy as he led him inside. I was greeted by a kindly elderly lady.
This lady's surname was Yun, and everyone called her Aunt Yun. It was said that she had followed the old master in her youth and never married, holding a high position in the Guo Family.
Aunt Yun served me a cup of ginseng tea and gently said, “Young Lady, please don’t be too reserved; treat it as your own home.”
I thanked her and took the tea, just about to drink when a few people walked in. The first among them had a commanding presence. Aunt Yun slightly bowed and said, “Young Master.”
This was Old Master Guo’s eldest son, named Guo Tianxiong. He gave me a cold glance and said, “Who is she?”
Guo Xuan, following behind him, immediately laughed. “Isn’t she Tang Shao’s little girlfriend? Dad, let me tell you, Tang Shao has such strange taste; he doesn’t like the second-tier starlets you arranged for him, but instead prefers this ugly thing. I’ve seen her face; it has a terrifying sore.”
Guo Tianxiong looked at me as if I were garbage, then flicked nonexistent dust off his shoulder and walked away.
Guo Xuan stepped in front of me, reaching out to lift my mask. I grabbed his hand. He sneered, “Oh, still a fighter, huh? Bring it on!”
Before he finished speaking, two bodyguards rushed forward and pinned me down. I shouted, “What are you doing? I’m a guest invited by Mr. Tang!”
Guo Xuan laughed loudly, and those around him joined in. “This is the Guo Family, not the Tang Family.”
Saying this, he tore off my mask.
“Oh my, she’s really ugly,” he turned to another young man and said, “Big brother, do you think Tang Mingli is a pervert?”
Guo Xuan’s older brother, Guo Xu, replied coldly, “Are you that bored? Don’t waste time on trash.”
Before he finished, a furious roar interrupted, “What are you doing?”
Tang Mingli had dashed in front of me, swiftly knocking the two bodyguards to the ground.
“Tang Mingli! Do you dare to make a move in my house?” Guo Xuan shouted angrily.
Tang Mingli pulled me behind him, fury swirling in his eyes. “Jun Yao is my friend. The Guo Family has strict teachings; we treat our guests with respect. Is this how you uphold the Guo Family’s reputation?”
