Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 15: Passive Sabotage
This chick is ruthless!
Fu Qian blankly watched the woman turn into Wolverine.
To use something like this against an ordinary bodyguard.
Team Leader Gu beside him had already drastically changed his expression, discreetly making a hand signal telling him to surrender as quickly as possible.
Fu Qian waved his hand, gesturing for him not to panic.
These Razor Blades looked intimidating, but they lacked length. Unless they hit a vital organ, they couldn't cause much damage; at worst, a flesh wound.
Generally speaking, people who liked to play around with flashy gimmicks like this usually had mediocre skills.
At this point, the Butler had very thoughtfully arranged for the staff to clear the area, opening up a space for them.
He might not enjoy watching this farce, but since it had developed to this point, he wouldn't step in to stop it.
"Don't blink, I'm starting!"
The Little Wolf Girl beamed with a beautiful smile and called out in a delicate voice.
Sticking out a bright red tongue, she licked the Razor Blades on her fingertips. The next instant, she turned into a blur, closing the distance to Fu Qian in a flash, aiming a slap straight for his face.
Too weak!
Facing this vicious strike, Fu Qian only frowned.
Am I too strong, or is she too weak? This felt absolutely nothing like facing the White Porcelain Girl's terrifying blade flashes.
Perhaps in the eyes of the others, this woman's movements were fast as lightning and unstoppable.
Yet Fu Qian didn't even move his lower body; he simply twisted his head and dodged the strike.
Not only that, but he snapped his head back with blinding speed.
To an observer with poor eyesight, it would look as if the Little Wolf Girl had simply missed.
"You've got some skills!"
Missing her strike, the woman jumped back to create distance, observing him with suspicion and uncertainty.
Unfortunately, Fu Qian completely ignored her, glancing over at Young Master Ye's side instead.
In Fu Qian's eyes, the middle-aged man who arrived with them was clearly a tier above the rest in terms of strength.
If he were the one fighting, it would be much more meaningful than fighting the Little Wolf Girl.
It was a pity the man was clearly seasoned and cautious. Getting him to fight might require some stimulation.
"Again!"
Having finished hyping herself up, the Little Wolf Girl charged back in, her speed even faster than before.
Yet the next moment, a sharp pain shot through her wrist as her arm was caught single-handedly by her target.
Her target was inches away, yet she couldn't reach him.
So I'm already this strong.
Fu Qian sighed internally.
"What Tier Beyonder are you?"
"Tier Eight... who exactly are you!"
Not understanding why he would ask this question, the Little Wolf Girl knew she needed to cooperate, no matter how stupid she was.
Tier Eight? Pigsy is much stronger than you.
Fu Qian snorted.
This woman is Tier Eight? I feel like I could fight ten of her without breaking a sweat!
The Thug form was far more powerful than he had imagined.
As for his opponent, whose face was currently twisted in pain, Fu Qian felt no pity whatsoever.
She hadn't held back earlier.
Against an ordinary human, not only did she pop her claws, but every strike was aimed straight for his face.
This was clearly an active attempt to figure out Young Master Ye's mindset, trying to disfigure him or worse.
How vicious. What you’re trying to destroy is a young boy's dream!
Fu Qian inhaled sharply and applied force to his hand.
The Little Wolf Girl let out a bloodcurdling scream as the Razor Blades dropped from both of her hands.
Before she could even finish her scream, a violent force struck her side, sending her flying like a cannonball.
With a massive crash, the Little Wolf Girl smashed headfirst into the car they had arrived in, struggling three times before failing to get up.
"Not bad, right?"
After kicking his opponent away, Fu Qian turned his head.
Young Master Ye's expression was currently spectacular as he stared fixedly at the leg that delivered the kick.
Clearly, even he wouldn't be able to deliver a kick with such effortless style.
It wasn't just him; Team Leader Gu's eyes were about to pop out of his skull.
"Careful."
The middle-aged man beside Young Master Ye stepped forward with a guarded expression, shielding him from behind.
Excellent.
Seeing the middle-aged man about to make a move, Fu Qian wasn't alarmed; instead, he was delighted.
That woman just wasn't enough of a challenge.
How did the saying go?
Since we are pursuing thrills, we must carry it through to the end.
Since they had already started fighting, given the behavioral style of these people, shaking hands and making peace was absolutely impossible. He might as well race against the clock and knock them all down—
[Wen Li has died. Containment Failed.]
[Evaluation: Passive Sabotage]
[Penalty: Sanity Value -5. Current Sanity Value: 37]
Just as a massive battle was about to break out, a prompt suddenly echoed in his ears.
...Are you fucking kidding me?
I knew this mission wouldn't be that simple, but she's dead already?!
Teleported back to the Warehouse, Fu Qian was quite a bit shaken.
Without making a single sound? She’s at least a relatively high-tier Beyonder, surrounded by heavy security in her own luxury mansion, and she just silently died?
It seemed his premonition was correct. This mission was far more difficult than he had imagined.
And crucially, the system deemed his actions as "Passive Sabotage", forcefully deducting 5 Sanity Value points.
That was equivalent to five lives! It was utterly outrageous.
For a moment, Fu Qian was deeply aggrieved, the joy of his power-up entirely washed away.
[Event Replay]
Not rushing to dive back in, Fu Qian decisively chose to replay the previous sequence of events.
Five minutes and twelve seconds. Wen Li died, and the mission failed.
[Consume 1 Sanity Value to attempt containment again.]
Having confirmed the exact time of Wen Li's death, Fu Qian touched the fog door.
The Wen Family mansion appeared once more.
This time, instead of waiting for Team Leader Gu's lecture, Fu Qian took the initiative and asked him a question.
"I heard the eldest Miss Wen is a genius Beyonder, currently at least Tier Seven. Does she really need our protection?"
"You're quite well-informed, kid!"
Team Leader Gu shot Fu Qian a surprised look.
"It's just hearsay. I heard her abilities are Mental Type. Before reaching the Middle Tiers, her physical constitution is incredibly fragile, barely better than a normal person's.
That's also why so many assassins have shown up recently—they want to strangle her in the cradle. After all, once she levels up, she'll be much harder to deal with."
That served as an explanation. Team Leader Gu's gossip-gathering abilities were truly commendable.
Fu Qian looked up. The Butler had already walked out of the villa, and Young Master Ye's car would arrive soon.
The next step is figuring out how the eldest miss actually died.
According to how things played out earlier, the eldest miss would die at the 5 minute and 12 second mark.
He currently had a maximum of 5 minutes.
The question was, how to investigate?
Through the physical exchange earlier, Fu Qian had gained a thorough understanding of his own combat prowess.
Around the plaza stood over a dozen massive white pillars, each carved directly from solid stone.
Seeing Young Master Ye's car approaching, Fu Qian took advantage of everyone's attention being drawn away. He quietly approached one of the pillars and delivered a vicious kick to its lower edge.
Half a minute later, accompanied by a muffled rumble...
The pillar crashed onto the ground with a resounding boom.
Screams erupted all around, and piercing alarms instantly began to blare.
Young Master Ye's car hadn't even come to a full stop before four people bolted out of it like lightning.
The welcoming committee behind the Butler instantly devolved into chaos.
Taking advantage of the utter pandemonium, Fu Qian followed the flow of people and slipped into the villa.
