Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 24: Mindset Determines the Way Out, Perspective Determines the Ending
This was a mission racing against time.
Kicking the stone pillar again to trigger the alarm, Fu Qian proceeded familiarly along the path.
This time, in less than five minutes, he arrived in front of Wen Li's room.
Kicking the door down, exploding the bowl, and saving the person all in one smooth motion.
Except this time, facing the stone pillar javelin, he didn't kick Wen Li to the side.
Taking a deep breath, violent strength gathered in his right hand. Facing the incoming stone pillar, Fu Qian directly punched out.
Amidst a deafening boom, dust filled the air.
The hard stone pillar, too thick for a person to embrace, was hammered straight into thousands of pieces, raining down like a hailstorm inside the room.
Fu Qian retracted his right hand and turned around to look at the room full of dust-covered people.
Dead silence. Faced with a scene resembling a descending deity, the group looked as if they had ceased to think.
Excellent. That's exactly the effect I wanted! "Excuse me..."
In the end, Wen Xiuxian was the first to snap back to his senses, cautiously looking at Fu Qian's face, seemingly considering his wording.
"Your Excellency... what is the meaning of this?"
"No time to explain."
Fu Qian snorted, clasping his hands behind his back in the manner of a supreme expert, and gestured for Wen Xiuxian to look at the Stone Giant that appeared in the courtyard.
"The situation is urgent. Lead the way to the Safe House here, otherwise your daughter is dead for sure."
"This..."
Wen Xiuxian instinctively wanted to deny him, but recalling the terrifying scene of Fu Qian shattering the stone with a single punch, he swallowed his words back down.
Although he had seen underground shelters built by wealthy tycoons and dignitaries before, when he saw the massive metal door—nearly two meters thick—slowly opening, Fu Qian realized he still underestimated this group's fear of death.
"This is it."
Wen Xiuxian pointed inside the metal door.
"Once entered and activated, this door can only be opened from the inside; it cannot be opened from the outside. The living supplies inside are enough to last a very long time, but..."
The initial shock having passed, he had already come to his senses, looking somewhat hesitant.
A person of unknown identity suddenly appearing in the house and stuffing you into a Safe House without a word—anyone would mutter in suspicion.
The most outrageous part was that this guy was still wearing the unified bodyguard uniform, with the two words "Guwei" shining on his chest.
This has to be a Beyonder at least Tier 6 or higher. How did I not know this bodyguard company was this awesome! "Do we really need to hide in here? Who exactly is the enemy?"
"People fully capable of killing you. Also, it's not 'we'."
Fu Qian pointed behind Wen Xiuxian.
"Just me and Wen Li. Everyone else retreat. No one is allowed to approach without my orders, or they will be killed without mercy."
"What the hell are you, is it your turn to issue orders?!"
Before the dumbstruck Wen Xiuxian could speak, a roar came from behind; it was Young Master Ye, who had rushed over upon hearing the news, losing his patience.
This guy most likely didn't see my performance just now. Fu Qian glanced at him.
Compared to Wen Xiuxian and the others, Young Master Ye's party of four looked much neater.
When he smashed the stone pillar earlier, they must have just entered the Wen Family estate.
"You don't want to die, right?"
Fu Qian ignored him entirely, turning his head to Wen Li.
This Eldest Miss Wen had first had her head and face poured with poison soup, then washed with lime; right now, she looked truly desolate.
Yet, even so, it couldn't conceal her beauty; instead, it added a touch of pitiful charm.
No wonder Young Master Ye grew anxious hearing his proposal.
"I..."
Wen Li, having just brushed past the gates of hell, was still reeling from shock, a different kind of hesitation in her eyes.
"Can we change to another place?"
"No!"
Confirming that her will to live was decent enough and shouldn't trigger another Shattered Mind situation, Fu Qian unceremoniously kicked her into the Safe House and immediately activated the switch.
"You dare!"
A roar came from behind. The ignored Young Master Ye attacked directly, a sharp wind howling toward Fu Qian's back.
Perfect timing! Stomping a deep pit into the alloy floor with one foot, Fu Qian met him head-on using the recoil force.
"Careful!"
A figure struck later but arrived first, darting in front of Young Master Ye, attempting to intercept Fu Qian.
I was waiting for you! Mr Ji, who had been silently pretending to be an expert, finally couldn't hold back.
And faced with an attack countless times sharper than Young Master Ye's, Fu Qian didn't hesitate to clash head-on.
Fists and feet collided, energy overflowing.
The upgraded strength directly swept Mr Ji away for several meters.
Only then did Young Master Ye's attack arrive belatedly.
Fu Qian neither dodged nor avoided. He slapped Young Master Ye directly in the face, not only interrupting the attack but even sending his entire person flying out.
"He's not someone we can deal with!"
Young Master Ye, who had gone berserk after landing, was grabbed by Mr Ji.
"Hurry and request the Night Watchers!"
The latter quickly said those two sentences, then threw up a large mouthful of blood with a bleugh.
Without a doubt, as the number one expert on the scene, his judgment was pretty good.
The metal door slowly closed; no one dared to stop it anymore.
Fu Qian stood behind the door, looking at Young Master Ye's face filled with fear, resentment, bewilderment, and sluggishness, inexplicably feeling a sense of "cuckolding" vibes.
Imagination is indeed the source of filth. I, surnamed Fu, am purely curing the sick and saving lives. Please don't speculate based on such vulgar plots. Creak! With a final sound, the metal door finally shut completely, and the inside of the Safe House instantly fell quiet.
Fu Qian turned around. The space inside was quite spacious; the Wen Family had clearly invested heavily here.
Wen Li had already gotten up and was sitting leaning against the wall.
After leveling up, his control over his strength was much handier; he was certain that the kick just now hadn't caused her any harm.
Their eyes met, and Fu Qian noticed something amiss.
She actually took the time just now to wipe her face! "I can feel that you bear no ill will towards me."
Wen Li's voice trembled, but she still managed to speak while panting.
"Can you tell me why you did this?"
"To save your life. I've said it before."
"Since it's out of goodwill, couldn't you communicate in a gentler way?"
"No."
Fu Qian was expressionless. In the cycles you don't know about, I already tried the gentle way. Of course, only relatively gentle.
……
"Then may I ask, how long are we staying here?"
Wen Li thought of another question.
Fu Qian held up one finger.
"A week...? It won't be a month, right?"
Wen Li's expression was quite resistant.
"No."
Fu Qian waved his finger.
"One day."
Only one day?
Wen Li's eyes lit up; the answer clearly exceeded her expectations.
"Could it be the assassins will give up on the mission after today?"
"No, it's because you have one day to break through."
Fu Qian waved his finger again.
"Starting from now, attain enlightenment for me!"
"At this time tomorrow, if you haven't reached Tier 6, I'll strip you naked and throw you out."
"Crying counts towards the time limit!"
