Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 37: The Aggregate

After the crowd nimbly made way, Li Weixuan unequipped the sword from his waist.

A peak Stage Four swordsman's strike was no trivial matter.

With the clear ring of a dragon's roar, the longsword left its sheath.

There was no gorgeous sword light, and it wasn't even as fast as lightning as one might imagine.

The tip of Li Weixuan's sword seemed to carry a high mountain as it was slowly thrust toward the barrier.

At that moment, everyone seemed to hear heaven and earth roaring.

After the roar, sword qi overflowed everywhere. A few people who were too close were even sent flying by the violent shockwave.

Everyone subconsciously looked toward the tip of the sword.

This...

On the invisible barrier, there still weren't any cracks, not even a trace of a tremor.

This all-conquering sword strike still hadn't triggered any reaction.

How could this be!

Crack!

A series of crisp sounds rang out. On the longsword in Li Weixuan's hand, spiderweb-like cracks appeared first, and then it shattered into fingernail-sized fragments.

The sheer power of the sword strike was something even the sword itself couldn't withstand.

Even an attack like this wasn't enough to break the barrier?

Are we going to be trapped to death here?

Everyone looked at each other, an uncontrollable despair rising in their hearts.

It really won't work, huh!

Beside them, Fu Qian sighed.

Although he subconsciously felt it wouldn't be this simple, the fact that such a terrifying strike hadn't left a single mark was still shocking.

This also practically proved that this thing couldn't be broken by brute force; they needed to think of other methods.

Li Weixuan, on the other hand, stared at the broken sword in his hand, looking stunned for a moment.

Ever since his debut, he had never encountered something so bizarre.

"Try going over the top."

At this moment, someone in the team shouted.

Right! There's still the top!

This sentence reminded many people. The barrier might not cover every direction; maybe they could bypass it from above.

Someone in the team had a bow and arrows as their weapon. They immediately unequipped it, drew the bowstring, pulled out an arrow, and aimed overhead.

Fu Qian stood by and Observed Quietly, not telling them that he had already tried with an Air Bullet.

Trying a few more times never hurts.

Snap!

Unsurprisingly, after the highly expensive arrow left the hand, it flew diagonally upwards for a distance, then crashed head-on into an invisible barrier, instantly breaking into several pieces.

...

Everyone's eyes quickly dimmed.

The archer froze for a moment, pulled out another arrow, and changed direction.

Still hit a wall.

Another one...

Until the quiver was emptied, someone finally stepped forward and pressed down on the archer's trembling hand. The ground was already littered with broken arrowheads.

The only takeaway was confirming that the barrier got higher and higher upwards from the border, roughly resembling an arched dome.

Li Weixuan had snapped back to reality by now.

This exploration and training exercise could no longer continue.

Just as he was about to give orders, a string of crisp bell rings suddenly came from afar.

"Follow me."

Everyone was suddenly startled. Li Weixuan gave a crisp command and was already the first to dash out.

That was The Academy's exclusive Arrow Bell, used specifically by students to call for help when encountering danger outside.

There were still two other teams in the ruins!

Seeing Li Weixuan's departing figure, the students now also hurried to follow.

They couldn't get out, and there were bizarre monsters inside. No matter how you looked at it, following Vice Dean Li was a bit safer.

"Thank you!"

When passing by Fu Qian, Ji Liushuang tilted her head and softly thanked him.

If it weren't for Fu Qian's warning, probably no one would have realized that the team was already in a desperate situation.

Although they still had no clues now, preparing in advance was always good.

Fu Qian nodded without saying a word. He accepted this 'thank you' with a very clear conscience.

After all, he had conveniently dealt with an assassin for her.

The others weren't as open-minded as Ji Liushuang. After all, most of them had been a bit resentful toward Fu Qian earlier. Swallowing their pride to thank or apologize now was still a bit difficult for a group of youngsters in their early twenties.

Fortunately, Li Weixuan's order was still in effect. The group immediately kept their heads down and hurried along, running forward with all their might, subconsciously wanting to stay a bit further away from Fu Qian.

Unfortunately, they quickly and despairingly discovered that no matter how they ran, Fu Qian was always right there, showing no signs of being left behind.

They forgot this guy was a Tier 6 Beyonder!

The scene before them finally made the group realize this point: this guy was now a genuine Middle Tier powerhouse. For a bunch of them wanting to lose him, there was probably something wrong with their brains.

Fortunately, the distance wasn't very far, and this awkward journey quickly came to an end.

When the group arrived, they saw Li Weixuan, looking like a god of war, using his hand as a sword, throwing out dozens of sword qi attacks, slashing from all directions onto... a hand?

That's right, Li Weixuan's target was a gigantic palm, densely covered with dozens of fingers.

Supported by the multitude of fingers, the palm moved incredibly fast. Each finger was like a spear; as they extended and retracted, they smashed rocks to pieces, sending debris flying.

And Li Weixuan's all-conquering sword qi almost instantly severed a cluster of fingers, tearing open several shocking wounds.

Suffering such heavy damage, the palm trembled violently, yet no blood flowed out.

Sensing Li Weixuan's might, the remaining fingers slithered swiftly across the ground, quickly hiding in a pile of rubble and vanishing in the blink of an eye.

So disgusting!

The appearance of that thing caused a mental shock to almost everyone. It wasn't until Li Weixuan landed from mid-air that they recovered their senses one by one.

The ones in danger were another team, but unfortunately, their luck wasn't as good as the first team. By the time Li Weixuan arrived, two team members had already lost their lives to that palm.

"Operation halted, everyone fall back into formation. Send a signal for the remaining team to come over."

In this scenario, Li Weixuan's face was as hard as iron, and he rapidly issued orders.

Things were getting more and more out of control. A normal exploration mission actually resulted in casualties.

That finger monster was only heavily injured; it wasn't dead yet.

Of course, the most terrifying predicament was far from this, but what lay outside.

Li Weixuan immediately went to check on the wounded.

And in just this brief moment, someone had already informed the ambushed team about the news of being trapped.

The entire ruin is dead-locked by an entirely impenetrable barrier?

The ambushed team's mood had originally started to improve, but now it took a sharp downturn once again.

"We were just resting when that hand suddenly leaped out. Senior Brother Wang was killed instantly. We tried everything to stall for time and found a chance to fire the Arrow Bell..."

An injured girl rapidly described the situation at the time.

"It wasn't a hand. The accurate description should be an aggregate of arms."

Fu Qian held something and tossed it onto the ground.

Those were the "fingers" severed by Li Weixuan. Some rolled down the cliff, while others scattered on the ground. He had immediately run over to observe them and discovered something interesting.

"Here, look closely at the top."

You pervert!

The crowd froze for a moment before realizing what he had thrown on the ground, and they were all given a fright.

That disgusting thing, you almost threw it on someone.

"This is an arm, not a finger."

Ji Liushuang's face was as calm as still water. She poked the clump open, and only then did the group see the true appearance of this thing.

The gigantic finger they thought it was actually had another five fingers at the tip!

These five fingers were the size of a normal person's, except they were now shriveled like chicken claws.

Ugh!

Finally, someone couldn't help but throw up.
