Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 43: They Realized the Gravity of the Situation

"Feng Yunhong!"

Li Weixuan's expression turned solemn.

"That's right. I believe you must have heard this name."

The old man let out a weathered sigh, wearing an expression that implied such false fame wasn't worth mentioning.

"All worldly fame is but a fleeting cloud."

"Sorry, never heard of it."

Li Weixuan shook his head.

It wasn't just him; everyone made the same gesture.

What?

In an instant, Feng Yunhong's expression became quite spectacular.

"And I am very certain that the fourth-generation Dean of the Academy was not named that."

"Bullshit! When I was Dean, you probably weren't even born yet. What do you know?"

Anger flared in Feng Yunhong's eyes.

"That's true. The world changes; it's perfectly normal not to know things from decades ago."

Li Weixuan's tone was flat.

"However, on this point alone, I am absolutely certain, because the fourth-generation Dean is my grandfather."

...

"I am very sure his surname is Li, and he should be vacationing in the Southern Hemisphere right now."

...

The look Li Weixuan gave Feng Yunhong made it obvious: Old man, you should really go get your head checked. You've been in here so long you don't even remember your own name.

"Li? Is your grandfather's name Li He?"

Feng Yunhong stared blankly for a long moment before suddenly asking Li Weixuan.

"How did you kn—"

Li Weixuan only got halfway through his sentence before suddenly freezing, subconsciously turning to look at Fu Qian.

Not just him, all the students did the exact same thing, turning in unison to look at Fu Qian standing in the distance.

Finally realized the gravity of the situation?

Fu Qian nodded at everyone and pointed at Feng Yunhong.

"There, a living example."

This is what you call a genius's intuition, see?

Even though the information was quite insufficient during the initial speculation, facts proved that the most terrifying nightmare had come true.

"What's wrong with you all?"

Feng Yunhong also noticed the anomaly.

"Elder... Feng."

Li Weixuan swallowed hard.

"You know my grandfather?"

"Goes without saying. When I was Dean, he was always my deputy. The kid had excellent talent, especially excelling in his steady temperament. Very promising."

Feng Yunhong stroked his beard, reminiscing about the past.

"But if you say he's the fourth-generation Dean, that's pure nonsense. He hadn't even grown all his hair yet back then; how could they possibly let him be the Dean!"

...

Li Weixuan took a deep breath and glanced back.

This wave of mental blow was nothing short of horrifying. All the students had a look of utter confusion in their eyes, the light of hope dissipating.

It was actually exactly as that guy said!

Once you enter here, all information in the outside world is completely erased. No one will ever remember you.

Reinforcements really aren't coming!

Only Fu Qian stood there, still sizing up Feng Yunhong with interest.

"Elder Feng, the facts as I understand them might be different from what you think."

Li Weixuan swallowed, carefully considering his words.

"My grandfather is indeed the fourth-generation Dean of the Academy. It's just that before him, the Dean's position was vacant for a very long period of time.

And as for your name, I'm sorry, but there really isn't any related information passed down."

Seeing Feng Yunhong's expression crumble once again, Li Weixuan signaled to Fu Qian while explaining.

"As to why this is the case, we've hypothesized a possible reason. I'll let my student explain the details to you."

After calling Fu Qian up, Li Weixuan quickly stepped to the side to adjust his mood.

Fu Qian casually stepped forward, greeted the senior, and repeated his speculation regarding the properties of these Ruins.

When he finished, not only was Elder Feng standing there dumbfounded, but the team members, forced to listen to it all over again, became even more soul-crushed and ashen-faced.

Just what kind of cursed place is this!

"Elder Feng, if you don't mind, could I ask a few questions?"

After letting Feng Yunhong digest the information for half a minute, Fu Qian spoke up again.

"Ask away."

Feng Yunhong replied in a low voice, no longer as spirited as before.

"According to you, you've been trapped here for a long time?"

"Yes, that was many years ago."

Feng Yunhong looked up, his eyes dazed.

"Over the years, the time I've been awake has grown shorter. It's hard to estimate the exact time, but since Li He's grandson is already this old, I reckon it's been almost a century."

"At first, I didn't understand why, after being missing for so long, no one ever came looking for me. I never expected there was such a bizarre twist involved."

"Then when you came in back then, your strength was already quite high, right?"

"Why are you asking this?"

Feng Yunhong frowned and glanced at Fu Qian.

"At the time, I was merely Tier 5. But over all these years, I've managed to make some progress."

"I can tell."

Fu Qian nodded.

"Then during this period, have there been other people who wandered in by mistake?"

"Too many. You saw the monsters outside, right?"

"Were there any as powerful as you?"

...

What exactly is this guy trying to do?

The surrounding group looked at Fu Qian in utter bewilderment.

Rambling on and asking a bunch of useless questions—do you want him to take you as a disciple or something?

Setting aside the seniority issue, everyone is trapped in here. What use is it if you can't get out?

"As for experts, there were a few."

Feng Yunhong pondered for a moment.

"But none of them held on. They were devoured by this place."

"Understood. Thank you for clarifying."

Fu Qian grinned and thanked him.

The next moment, he took a step back, and using the cover of turning around, pulled something out and whipped it straight at Feng Yunhong.

"Are you crazy?"

The latter's voice was filled with shock and fury. At such a close distance, by the time Feng Yunhong noticed it, it was almost unavoidable, and he was hit directly.

Not just him, everyone, including Li Weixuan, was deeply shocked, not understanding what Fu Qian was doing.

By now they had seen clearly: what Fu Qian threw out was actually a bloody severed finger.

Could it be his own finger? Did he rip off his own finger to use as a hidden weapon?

This guy really is out of his mind!

However, the next moment, everyone stood frozen in place.

After the finger hit Feng Yunhong, it actually didn't bounce to the ground; instead, it embedded straight into his body.

Is he that fragile?

Feng Yunhong looked down at the finger inserted into his body, his expression becoming extremely bizarre.

The next moment, the half of the finger still exposed outside actually melted like a candle, merging into Feng Yunhong's body without leaving a single trace.

At the same time, Feng Yunhong's face revealed a twisted, unhuman smile!

There was definitely something wrong with this guy!

Pinching the wound of his missing finger, Fu Qian deeply felt this injury was worth it.

The next moment, Fu Qian raised his hands high and yelled a famous quote ingrained in his memory.

"Run, you foolish children!"

What? Most of the people were still immersed in the horrifying scene just now, completely failing to understand what Fu Qian meant by his shout.

"Where are you going to run!"

Feng Yunhong's chilling voice rang out.

Amidst dull, explosive rumbles, his massive body detonated into a Flesh Storm.

An indescribable, berserk power instantly swept across everything around them.
