Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 64: Omen Must Die (10)

It's here!

He had guessed he wouldn't be given much time to search slowly. His previous decision to forcefully push forward was indeed correct!

This was a Tasker's intuition.

Fu Qian nodded inwardly.

At this moment, Huang Leji's grief-stricken and indignant words plunged the entire room into shock, and the atmosphere grew visibly heavy.

Especially the members of the Huang Family. As a powerful local clan, a family of Beyonders, they had probably never suffered such an offense before.

They originally thought that no matter how crazy that guy was, there would be a limit, and he would at most target some unorganized stragglers outside.

Who would have thought he'd actually dare to provoke someone so powerful on their own turf!

For a moment, the crowd was enraged, everyone radiating murderous intent.

Fu Qian completely understood their feelings, and exchanged a glance with Su Gao.

"Without further ado, let's head over and take a look right now."

"Alright!"

Huang Leji clearly couldn't sit still anymore either, and the group set off in a flurry.

...

Compared to when they visited yesterday, the atmosphere at the Huang Family manor was much more tense.

Following the path up the manor, almost reaching the very top of the entire building complex, the group finally arrived at the murder scene.

It was a relatively independent small courtyard. A group of people was already waiting outside. Apart from their visible grief, there seemed to be a trace of fear as well.

Not far ahead, the door to a room was wide open, revealing an extremely brutal scene inside.

On the white bedsheets, two corpses looked like tomatoes squashed flat by a hydraulic press. They were spread out almost flat, smearing the bed. The blood that had sprayed outward dyed everything in sight red.

Not only that, between the two corpses, hundreds of entangled fleshy tendons had grown out. They twisted and coiled around each other, completely inseparable.

The entangled tendons didn't just fuse firmly downward with the bed; they even stretched upwards lushly, densely packed like a dark red thicket.

"Bastard..."

Witnessing this highly impactful scene before him, Huang Leji was first startled, and then his eyes practically split open with rage.

"Sixth Uncle hasn't involved himself in worldly affairs for years. To think he would suffer such a vicious attack..."

No wonder it was so remote; it turned out to be a retirement spot for the elderly members.

The scene was sealed off very well. Su Gao walked into the room without saying a word.

After meticulously examining the hellish scene, she nodded at the crowd.

"It is Omen's handiwork."

"The killing method is not entirely identical to before, but you can see some commonalities. In comparison, it's even more tyrannical, and the scent of sacrifice is growing increasingly stronger."

As the hunter who had tracked him all the way here, Su Gao's words carried a great deal of credibility.

"Omen..."

Huang Leji's eyes were bloodshot, and the sound of his grinding teeth was enough to make one's ears ache. It was unknown if he regretted being a bystander earlier.

"Consultant Fu..."

As Fu Qian was surveying the surrounding environment, Team Leader Qiao walked over and quietly handed him a piece of paper.

"We checked it out. These are that Lu Xing's recent movement trajectories. I must say, it is still somewhat suspicious. He just returned from out of town not long ago, and the timing coincides with Omen."

That coincidental?

Fu Qian took the paper, glanced at it, and remained silent.

Huang Leji, however, had sharp ears and turned to look over.

"Consultant Fu, is there a clue related to Omen?"

Fu Qian handed the document over without a word. Old Master Huang snatched it, glanced at it, and his face turned ashen.

"If the Night Watchers had such important information, why didn't you inform us earlier?"

Huang Leji stared at Fu Qian, questioning him in a deep voice.

"Or is it that you don't trust our Huang Family?"

By the end of his sentence, his voice and expression were severe. It seemed he was truly furious.

"It is merely a suspect; it is far from being confirmed."

Facing the thunderous wrath of the Huang Family head, Fu Qian remained completely unmoved, turning instead to a servant nearby.

"Did you discover the bodies?"

The servant was taken aback for a moment.

"No. Sixth Master dislikes being disturbed. He rests until almost noon every day before getting up."

"Then who discovered them?"

"It was a disciple of the clan who noticed an anomaly while passing by. They immediately went to find Jianyuan."

Huang Lezhan interjected from the side.

The complexion of this number one fighter of the Huang Family was equally unpleasant.

"Where is the person?"

Fu Qian suddenly became interested.

He had previously narrowed the target scope down to the interior of the Huang Family. And as everyone knows, the first person to discover a crime scene is often highly suspicious.

"Where is he right now?"

"What do you mean?"

Huang Lezhan looked at him with some displeasure.

"After the incident occurred, he and Jianyuan took some people and chased out after the perpetrator."

"What is his name?"

"Consultant Fu seems to hold a deep prejudice against our Huang Family. A tragedy like this occurs here, and your first reaction is to suspect our own family members?"

Old Master Huang snorted heavily, his patience clearly reaching its limit.

However, before he could continue expressing his dissatisfaction, someone rushed forward in panic. The next moment, Huang Leji froze in place.

"Jianyuan..."

Was Huang Jianyuan dead too? Or was the entire team wiped out?

Fu Qian remembered Huang Leji's hot-tempered son, and a strong premonition of disaster surged in his heart.

Subconsciously looking up, the next moment, an incredibly bizarre scene appeared in his line of sight.

Right above the mountain peak, a massive rust-colored tree was slowly emerging.

On the branches that shot straight from the crater into the sky, invisible tentacles stretched and squirmed. Crisscrossing mouthparts bloomed like flowers, continuously tearing and rotting.

The moment this image entered his vision, Fu Qian felt as if his head had been struck by a heavy hammer, his consciousness churning violently.

...

Amidst the terrifying notifications, Fu Qian seemed to hear whispers originating from the depths of his soul, enticing him to keep looking, to let his consciousness drown within it.

Ultimately, before his mind completely collapsed, Fu Qian forcibly defied the urge deep in his soul, violently turning his head away and retracting his gaze.

Phew!

So this is the legendary calamity?

Fu Qian shook his head, which felt like it was about to explode, and swept his gaze around.

Shockingly, at least half of the people in front of him were staring toward the top of the mountain, including the Huang Leji brothers.

These people were all standing stiffly there, speaking not a word, making not a single movement.

Such strange behavior naturally attracted the attention of the others.

The first reaction of those who noticed the anomaly was to follow their line of sight to see if there was something in the sky.

And so, in the span of a single breath, none of the remaining people were spared.

"What's happening outside?"

Su Gao, who was still inside the room, clearly sensed the abnormality.

"Don't look up!"

Fu Qian gave a casual warning, then slammed a hand onto Huang Lezhan, who was staring at the sky, seizing the very last bit of time.

"What is that person's name?"

Fu Qian looked at him and asked once more.

"What person?"

Huang Lezhan raised his head vacantly and muttered.

"The person who discovered the bodies."

"Huang Yuanchang..."

His eyes were completely devoid of light, his consciousness seemingly already shattered to pieces.

The notification sound rang in his ears, and the scene before his eyes rapidly blurred.
