Horror Camgirl - Ch. 45: Half Human, Half Ghost

The woman spoke coolly, "Lu Laosan won a treasure in a lottery. Rumor has it that it’s worth tens of millions. He invited wealthy buyers to inspect it, hoping to sell it. But that jade piece was sinister. One buyer, who had just returned from Myanmar, took one look and said, ‘This carving depicts an ancient Evil God. Anyone who possesses it is destined for ruin.’ Lu Laosan didn’t believe him, thinking he was trying to haggle. The very next day, disaster struck his household, and his entire family died. It even dragged us down with him."

A vicious glint of hatred flickered in her eyes.

"The water’s gone cold; let me heat some more," she said, picking up the teapot and heading into the kitchen.

I immediately tugged on Teng Lan’s sleeve, whispering, "There’s something off here. Let’s get out."

Teng Lan chuckled nonchalantly, "What’s so strange? You think there’s a ghost here? Or that woman is a ghost? Hahaha."

This actor really was clueless—good looks wasted on him.

So clueless, he’s likely the first to die.

And thinking of our streamer having to save this guy who’s so keen on getting himself killed... I almost feel bad for our streamer.

I didn’t waste any more time. Grabbing his arm, I started to pull him out when the woman’s voice drifted back, soft yet eerie, "Why the rush? Won’t you stay for a meal?"

"No, we have some matters to attend to," I said, already halfway to the door. Suddenly, with a thunderous bang, the door slammed shut.

The woman chuckled darkly, "You misunderstand. I want you to stay and be my son’s dinner."

We turned back, only to see a small figure crawling out of the dark bedroom.

Holy crap! What on earth is that thing?

It’s not human at all—terrifying, like something straight out of an American horror movie!

Was it mutated by radiation or something?

The child’s appearance was horrific—crawling on all fours like an animal, limbs twisted, eyes bulging blood-red, and a mouth filled with sharp fangs.

Teng Lan’s eyes widened in shock. "Where did they find this makeup artist? Pretty impressive, huh? Did they hire someone from Hollywood?"

He even took a couple of steps forward, wanting to touch the kid. I grabbed him just as the child lunged, claws flashing, leaving four dark gashes on his arm.

Good thing I pulled him back, or else that swipe might’ve gone straight for his heart.

Teng Lan cried out in pain, "How dare you attack me! Do you even know who I am?"

I pushed him behind me, shouting, "This kid is no longer human!" I quickly grabbed a handful of cinnabar and threw it at the child. Instantly, blisters rose on its skin, and it writhed on the ground in pain.

The woman’s eyes went red, and she screamed through gritted teeth, "How dare you hurt my darling! I’ll tear you to shreds!"

She leapt forward, moving just like the child, crawling along the walls toward me.

"A ghost! They... they’re really ghosts!" Teng Lan’s legs shook uncontrollably.

What a coward! When our streamer went live for the first time, they weren’t nearly this scared. This guy’s giving men a bad name.

Hmph, our streamer’s a ghost-slaying master with a sword. How could this pretty-boy actor compare?

I bit my finger, mixing my blood with cinnabar to draw a talisman on my peachwood sword, which I held out in front of me.

The woman scrambled onto the ceiling before springing down. Seizing the moment, I pointed the sword at her and shouted, "Exorcise!"

A streak of lightning struck her squarely, and she flew backward, crashing hard against the wall.

Teng Lan was dumbfounded, "Wh-what kind of special effect is that?"

"Don’t you get it?" I said urgently, "This isn’t special effects! There are real ghosts here!"

Before I could finish, the child rolled on the ground and pounced at Teng Lan. I rushed to intercept, but the kid dodged my sword and leapt onto my neck, wrapping his legs around my shoulders and gripping my throat with his tiny hands.

My heart raced; with those claws, he could tear my neck open.

Suddenly, there was a loud clang, and the kid rolled off me, leaving two dark scratches on my neck.

Teng Lan stood there, holding a shattered teapot, visibly shaken. "I-I hit him!"

Hey, maybe he’s not such a coward after all.

I’d expected him to wet his pants, but he actually helped out. Not bad, Teng Lan. If you survive this, I’ll become your fan.

I tossed him a Tao wood dagger and asked, "Know any martial arts?"

He looked blank for a moment. "I once took a couple of lessons for a martial arts film."

Not much better than knowing nothing, then?

Oh well, at least he’s a man and should have some strength.

"Hold the peachwood sword tight. This kid’s fierce!" I raised the peachwood sword, bracing myself for the twisted creature in front of us, which had become fully enraged.

Meanwhile, in Lu Laosan’s bedroom, Tang Mingli opened the safe inside the closet.

The safe looked old-fashioned, but the lock was complex, and it took him quite a bit of effort to crack it open.

Moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a faint green glow on the items inside.

It was an exquisitely crafted jade ornament with a lotus base and a dancing god carved on top.

But the god was bizarre, with bulging eyes and twisted limbs in a contorted pose. At first glance, it was beautiful, but a closer look brought a chill to the spine.

This piece was strange. Might as well show it to the audience; maybe someone will recognize it.

He lifted the safe and turned to leave, only to freeze in place.

The room was empty.

"Jun Yao?"

At that moment, Teng Lan and I were still battling the little demon. It was incredibly fast, and both Teng Lan and I had taken some hits. I was surprised that, despite his pampered appearance, Teng Lan gritted his teeth and didn’t back down. It was impressive.

Just then, my phone chimed with an incoming call. I quickly answered, finding it was Cloud Fairy.

"Little girl, that’s not very fair. I heard you gave Huang Shan Jun something that helped break his cultivation bottleneck. I’ve given you plenty of rewards myself. How could you favor him over me?" Cloud Fairy said, sounding annoyed.

Dodging attacks, I replied, "Fairy, I want to thank you and True Lord Zhengyang properly. It’s just that neither of you has been online recently, so I didn’t know what to gift."

Cloud Fairy chuckled, "I’m not that petty. Coincidentally, I need something. How about you help me get it? Don’t worry; you’ll be rewarded."

I sighed, "Fairy, please hold on a moment. Let me deal with this little demon first."

Cloud Fairy observed, "Oh? A Dark Spirit, huh?"

"Dark Spirit?"

"Yes, a Dark Spirit is a half-human, half-ghost creature, usually made through dark magic," Cloud Fairy explained. "Its soul remains in its body, but it’s actually dead. To prevent its body from rotting, it must feast on fresh human flesh and drink fresh blood."

"Like a zombie?"

"Not even close," Cloud Fairy scoffed. "Zombies absorb energy from burial grounds and natural forces. They’re leagues above Dark Spirits. What corpse walkers in the past called zombies were really just a type of Dark Spirit."

I quickly asked, "Fairy, does a Dark Spirit have any weaknesses?"

"Simple—chop off its head, and it’s done."

Delighted, I called out, "Teng Lan, cut off its head!"

The demon leapt onto me again. I grabbed its throat with one hand and clamped its claws with the other, shouting, "Now!"

Despite his fear, Teng Lan gritted his teeth, let out a loud shout, and drove the Tao wood dagger deep into the creature’s neck.
