Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 128: Why Are You Standing in My Spot?
Young people really do have boundless energy!
Hearing Young Master Qin's voice over the phone, Fu Qian couldn't help but sigh.
No one had come knocking since yesterday, so he thought the matter was over. He didn't expect the strange phenomena back then would actually spark the masses' curiosity.
But looking on the bright side...
The fact that a bunch of people interpreted it as a flying saucer rather than the radiant light of Buddha at least showed a tendency to believe in science, which was comforting.
Even though they'd be waiting forever for aliens.
Hanging up the phone and setting it aside, Fu Qian quickly brought his attention back to today's mission.
Although the process had been a bit twisty, the mission hadn't been too strenuous, fitting well within the standards of a Level-3 item.
As for his final clash with Chen Xing, to be honest, this Demigod didn't feel particularly strong to him.
At the very least, compared to Ibrahimovic or Yuan Shan, this guy really wasn't up to par.
And that bizarre transformation—the eyeballs fanning out like a peacock's tail—it was hard not to associate it with the "price" Deng Feizhou had mentioned.
It was a pity there was no opportunity to learn more.
Speaking of which, Chen Xing could be considered desperate enough to try any cure.
The strength Deng Feizhou had displayed was at most Tier 4 Peak. Did he really hope this guy could help him ascend to Demigod?
Or perhaps his hope lay in the Blood of Thorns.
Fu Qian judged silently.
Chen Xing wasn't stupid. He must have learned some information about the Blood of Thorns before finally choosing this path.
What he believed in was the status of the Blood of Thorns, not Deng Feizhou.
What he didn't expect was that the Blood of Thorns would eventually merge with the mask he wore, forming 3-0177.
As for the description of 3-0177, judging by the post-usage effects, Fu Qian had a bold theory.
All his previous containment missions took place in the past of that world.
But in the Envoy state, it was the equivalent of him arriving in its true present.
Confirming this would be simple. He just had to wait a couple of days and use Envoy again.
Then he could just see if the time had jumped forward.
But using this required caution.
In the Envoy state, he could suffer "true death."
Meaning he only had one life; he needed to act with extreme prudence.
The upside was that he could take off the mask and cancel the Envoy state at any time.
With his current strength, even facing a Demigod, he could put up a fight.
He had also tested out most of the effects of the Mythic Form.
As long as he remained vigilant and didn't run into some Tier 1 or Tier 2 freak, it shouldn't be so bad that he couldn't even run away.
After quickly organizing his thoughts, Fu Qian tidied up his things, and soon a knock came at the door.
...
"You guys really have a lot of free time!"
Looking at Qin Mingze and Wu Qingyu at the door, Fu Qian couldn't help but shake his head and sigh.
"What the hell do you know!"
Qin Mingze's tone, however, was highly enthusiastic.
He was a young man after all. After a few days unseen, Young Master Qin had stepped out of the shadow of the black dress incident and regained his radiant lawyer-like glow.
"This isn't some third-rate sci-fi story. A lot of nearby residents said they saw flashes of light, not to mention those five guys are still lying in the hospital."
"If the area hadn't been cordoned off this morning, probably half the sci-fi fans in Lincheng would have rushed over!"
"This is a major event happening right next door, and you're not curious at all?"
Not at all.
Fu Qian thought to himself, then turned to look at Wu Qingyu next to him.
"Are you a sci-fi fan too?"
"No."
Wu Qingyu still looked half-dead, and his answer was exceptionally blunt.
"I'm not interested in sci-fi stories. If those five who got hit were willing to let me examine them, I might have a bit of interest."
"But I strongly emphasized to my teacher that I am, so I could slack off, get some fresh air, and have a real Saturday night..."
"Understood."
Fu Qian patted the latter's shoulder.
"Have you had dinner yet?"
Young Master Qin looked at Fu Qian.
"No."
"Perfect. Xiaoyu and I already ate, so let's head out."
Truly worthy of a lawyer trainee. His logical reasoning has reached perfection.
However, Fu Qian didn't mind. Let alone missing one meal, he could go ten days to half a month without food now with no problem.
Even though it wasn't far, Young Master Qin insisted on driving.
Ten minutes later, the trio arrived near the stone bridge.
Night had already fallen. From a distance, the five guys' car was no longer on the bridge; it must have been towed away.
But Young Master Qin really wasn't lying. On the usually deserted stone bridge, even at this hour, there were actually dozens of people scattered about.
A quick glance revealed that aside from professionals waiting with long lenses and cameras, the rest were young people in their twenties—likely students from nearby schools joining the fun.
Fu Qian even spotted two familiar faces among them.
Within the crowd, Pei Yanqing and He Xian were conspicuously present.
"Youthful girls really are boundless!"
With just one glance, Young Master Qin let out an emotional sigh.
"I suddenly miss my school days."
"Mr. Fu!"
At that moment, Pei Yanqing, noticing Fu Qian in the crowd, waved excitedly, drawing sidelong glances from the people around them.
"Mr. Fu... is she calling you?"
Qin Mingze looked over in disbelief.
"Yes."
With no intention of explaining further, Fu Qian strolled onto the bridge and nodded at Pei and He.
"Just call me Fu Qian."
After greeting the two girls, Fu Qian casually introduced Qin Mingze and his companion.
"Your luck with women lately is a bit ridiculous!"
Seizing the opportunity, Qin Mingze whispered to Fu Qian.
"What's so strange about that?"
Fu Qian shot him a glance.
"Don't use your hobby to challenge someone else's profession."
...
Qin Mingze was thoroughly roasted by that sentence and had nothing to say.
"Couldn't tell you were a sci-fi fan."
Looking at Pei Yanqing, Fu Qian furrowed his brow slightly.
Honestly, he really didn't want her anywhere near him right now.
"I'm not."
Pei Yanqing giggled and pointed at her best friend.
"He Xian dragged me here. She's interested in this kind of stuff, but she gets scared in the dark."
"Scared?"
"Yeah, because five people went insane, the rumors are getting wilder and wilder.
There's even a theory that they were subjected to some mysterious experiment that fried their brains.
Word is their condition isn't optimistic, and their intelligence has basically regressed to infant levels."
You were almost there too.
Fu Qian glanced at her but said nothing.
"No need to pity them."
Young Master Qin sneered coldly at this point.
"Those five were no saints to begin with. They've done their fair share of terrible things. I don't buy for a second that they were here to moon-gaze."
"In a way, if it really was aliens, they did society a favor. Though I think they probably just drank too much fake alcohol."
As a practitioner in the field, Young Master Qin knows quite a lot of inside info!
And his guess was pretty close to the mark.
"Is that so?"
Hearing this, both Pei Yanqing and He Xian frowned.
These two definitely didn't know that the incident originated because of them.
Fu Qian said nothing, looking around expressionlessly.
The next moment, his gaze sharpened, and he took a deep breath.
I finally know why this feels so weird!
The exact spot Pei Yanqing was standing right now was the exact spot he had stood last night, not a fraction of an inch off!
