Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 144: Disorder (15)
Although it was unknown why the Duchess was frightened, her hysterical outburst still demonstrated formidable power.
Within the endless light, overflowing streams of light bombarded the headless armor from all directions, making sounds like a hammer striking iron.
The headless armor was blasted back again and again; even the armor that appeared incomparably sturdy was forcefully smashed out of shape.
Even the black fluid within the armor continuously twisted and struggled under the bombardment.
It was unknown how long the continuous bombardment lasted. Only when the headless armor was smashed into a tangled heap and stopped moving entirely did the Duchess slump to the ground, panting heavily.
"Don't space out. There might be more!" Fu Qian reminded her coldly.
Before his voice faded, two consecutive landing sounds were heard as two more dark shadows jumped down.
I knew it. With her screaming so loudly just now, if there were other monsters, they would definitely be attracted over.
Of the two dark shadows that landed, one was in the same armor style, except holding a round hammer that looked exceptionally heavy.
The other was wearing a coat similar to a bishop's robe, except its body was now swollen into a ball. Coupled with the long scepter in its hand, it looked exactly like a fat monk.
Not only that, but its entire body was dripping wet, covered with large patches of black areas.
The moment the new armor guy landed, he swung his hammer directly at the Duchess.
Fortunately, thanks to Fu Qian's warning, the Duchess was jolted awake in advance and narrowly dodged this hammer blow.
This hammer blow also brought her back to her senses completely. She waved her arms repeatedly, trapping the opponent in rings of halos.
Fu Qian had no time to pay attention to her at this moment, because the fat monk's target was precisely himself.
The fat monk raised the staff in his hand high, and thick shadows gathered upon it.
Silently, a black ball the size of a washbasin was hurled straight towards Fu Qian's face.
Better not let it touch him—that was Fu Qian's first instinct.
Fortunately, that thing wasn't flying fast. After Fu Qian quickly dodged to the side, it smashed straight into the stone wall beside him, instantly corroding a large area.
Whoosh!
The next moment, the fat monk, having missed his attack, actually ran right up in front of Fu Qian and brought the scepter down on his head.
Is everyone a melee mage these days?
Seeing that the scepter was also coated in the black shadow, Fu Qian dodged again and didn't take the hit head-on.
The next moment, a pale dragon head appeared out of thin air.
Taking a beating passively has never been my style.
The fat monk missed his attack, and his body paused for a moment. Fu Qian decisively unleashed his ultimate move.
A surging, transparent breath blasted onto the fat monk's body instantly.
The fat monk suddenly froze, and then a violent reaction occurred in his body.
As if his body was filled with boiling asphalt, large bubbles churned out on the surface of his body. His body was stretched into various shapes, and his skin became almost transparent.
Feeling that things were going bad, Fu Qian directly grabbed the shield of the previous armor guy and held it up in front of himself.
The next moment, the fat monk's body swelled to its limit and then exploded like a balloon, splattering ink-like bodily fluids in all directions.
Clang!
When the impact subsided, Fu Qian tossed the large shield in his hand aside.
The gilded surface of the shield had unexpectedly been corroded with pits and holes.
Luckily, the shield was large enough, and not a single drop splattered onto his body.
The other side was much more miserable.
The Duchess had naturally seen the situation on Fu Qian's side, but unfortunately, she was dealing with the armor guy and wasn't that agile in her movements.
In the end, seeing the bad situation, she barely managed to bait the armor guy into facing away from the explosion, using its body to block the hit.
At this time, another pale dragon head appeared, and a surging breath blasted onto the center of the armor guy's back.
Clang!
The sound of a heavy hammer hitting the ground was heard. The latter slowly stopped its movements, then fell apart and scattered all over the ground.
Staring vigilantly into the armor and finding that nothing else was coming out, the Duchess let out a long breath, her face exceptionally pale.
The successive sudden battles had put a tremendous burden on her.
"Is there a problem?" Fu Qian walked forward and asked.
Finding that blob of asphalt caused such a huge reaction from her; even a fool could tell she knew something.
After taking a few deep breaths, the Duchess looked up at Fu Qian, letting out a sound that was almost a sob.
"They are here!"
It was his first time seeing this heroine show such an attitude. Fu Qian's curiosity was greatly piqued, and he pointed at the ground.
"Who are 'they' you are referring to?"
"Those monsters that destroy everything... I never expected they would finally find their way here," the Duchess muttered to herself while looking at the corroded holes on the ground.
"Exactly what kind of monsters are they, to be so exaggerated!"
"Indescribable..." The despair in the Duchess's eyes was almost palpable.
"Do you know why the initial group of people migrated here?"
"I once heard people say that what they were fleeing from wasn't war or plagues, but monsters that could bring infinite chaos and distortion."
"Every one of those monsters is so powerful it makes you despair. They can corrode and distort everything, even lifeless objects. It's said that just looking at you is enough to tear your soul apart. Even their names themselves are a kind of pollution. Just knowing them will bring you misfortune. A long time ago... the outside world was already destroyed."
The Duchess's voice sounded like sleep-talking.
"Now they have found this place again... Even though the path leading in was destroyed immediately, they still came..."
So this is a place similar to the Peach Blossom Spring?
Hearing this historical secret for the first time, Fu Qian thought to himself.
If what the Duchess said was true, then this world was basically a destroyed post-apocalyptic era.
"Looking at it now, this place being abandoned back then was likely not just because of the ravaging Calamity. They might have already noticed some clues, which was why they left decisively," the Duchess organized her thoughts bit by bit. "When I saw the Pus Stone, I had a very bad premonition. Facts have proven that the worst-case scenario has still occurred."
"Wait!"
After muttering to herself for a while, the Duchess suddenly let out a startled cry and quickly stood up.
"The Pus Stone appeared in the town. Doesn't that mean—"
"We must hurry back and tell the Priest about this!"
So this thing was the Human Pus?
Fu Qian looked at the corroded pits around him and remembered his task.
If this thing was the Human Pus, then his workload would likely exceed imagination.
Just around here, there were fully three infected targets.
Moreover, the vast majority of this place was covered in ice and snow. Were there any such infected individuals inside?
This was completely uncertain. Was he supposed to dig them out one by one to see?
Was the essence of this task actually the Foolish Old Man Moving the Mountains?!
For a moment, Fu Qian felt a real pain in the ass.
"Time to set off!"
Having a goal, the Duchess quickly perked up.
Just as she was about to move, she suddenly remembered the purpose of this trip.
"Oh right, has the key on you shown any reaction?"
