Horror Camgirl - Ch. 102: The Human Skin Scroll
Tang Mingli said, "Someone gifted me a painting of a beautiful woman. It’s said to be a Tang Dynasty work, sold at an auction on Hong Kong Island for 130 million three months ago. Someone wanted a favor from me, so they sent it to me. I'm not interested in beauties that claim to be nation-toppling, but I thought it could be useful for your livestream material, so I reluctantly accepted it."
I quickly asked, "So, did you see the beauty appear at night these past few days?"
Tang Mingli chuckled and replied, "The painting’s been sitting at my villa. I haven’t been home lately, so how could I have seen any beauties? If you're interested, we can head over there now."
I nodded in agreement. A pleased smile crept onto his face, one he couldn’t quite hide.
We went directly to his villa. As soon as I entered, I caught a faint fragrance in the air.
The scent was peculiar, like a blend of perfumes—floral, yet with a mix of spices—but it was very light, almost imperceptible.
It was around dinner time, so I rummaged through the fridge, found some ingredients, and prepared a simple three-dish meal with soup. Tang Mingli’s eyes lit up at the sight of the food, and he devoured it all.
Naturally, washing dishes was Tang Mingli’s job. I had always thought of him as a pampered young master, but he turned out to be quite skilled at it.
He laughed, saying, “I’m a martial artist, you know. When I was young, my grandfather would throw me on a mountain to train alone. I even had to catch birds and cook them myself—what hardship haven’t I endured?”
I smiled at him and sat on the sofa, quietly watching him wash dishes in the open kitchen. His back looked straight and perfect, his muscles faintly visible beneath the thin white shirt, exuding an aesthetic appeal.
For some reason, I suddenly felt a strange flutter in my chest.
My head became hazy, and my body started to feel warm. My face flushed red, and even my breaths seemed to taste sweet.
Before I realized it, I found myself walking up behind him, wrapping my arms around his waist.
He paused, gently holding my hands, and asked with a smile, "What’s wrong?"
My hands slipped free and started exploring his body. With my cheek pressed against his back, I felt like I was burning up inside. Tang Mingli felt like a block of ice, and holding him tightly seemed to be the only way to stop myself from burning to ashes.
Tang Mingli turned around and hugged me tightly, while I reached up to wrap my arms around his neck.
He looked both surprised and thrilled as he lowered his head to kiss me.
I felt like I was drifting in a sea of flowers, surrounded by an intoxicating fragrance. Closing my eyes, I savored this blissful moment.
Suddenly, a warm current surged from my dantian up to my forehead, startling me into clarity. I looked down to see Tang Mingli kissing my chest, and I screamed, pushing him away immediately, shrinking into a corner and clutching my shirt.
"Jun Yao?" He looked at me in confusion. "Did I hurt you?"
"N-No…" I glanced around, sniffing the air. “What’s that scent?”
"I didn’t light any incense." He sniffed as well. “There’s a strange fragrance, but I thought it was just the flowers blooming in the backyard.”
“No, that’s not it.” I took a couple more breaths. “This scent has an aphrodisiac effect!”
Tang Mingli froze for a moment and then said, “Jun Yao, you know I’m not that kind of person.”
“I know. It’s definitely not some aphrodisiac incense you deliberately lit.” I stood up and followed the scent, finally stopping in front of a room at the end of the second-floor hallway.
Tang Mingli seemed to realize something. He opened the door, took out a scroll from a safe, and laid it on the table. A wave of exotic fragrance washed over us.
“It’s this!” I exclaimed.
Tang Mingli rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Now I understand why ancient men were so obsessed with paintings of beautiful women. It’s because of this.”
I felt my face flush with embarrassment and shot him an annoyed look. Taking out my phone, I opened up my livestream channel and gave it a catchy title: "Is There a Vengeful Ghost Lurking Beneath This Millennium-Old Beauty’s Skin?"
As soon as the livestream started, bam—80,000 viewers flooded in almost instantly. Many had set notifications for my streams, so their phones alerted them the moment I went live.
It was prime time, just after work hours. Families were sitting on their sofas watching TV, and once they received notifications, they eagerly gathered around their screens.
Viewer Comments:
“Streamer, if you don’t go live soon, we’re gonna pool money to hire a private investigator to check if a ghost got you!”
“Hey, don’t jinx it! If something happens to the streamer, I’ll only blame you!”
“Streamer, can I buy one of those Elixir Pills from you? My brother got injured climbing a mountain.”
“Do you still have those blood-replenishing Elixir Pills? Give me a dozen—I’ll pay any price.”
“Streamer, I’m from the Canglong Sect. Would you consider becoming our sect’s honored guest?”
“Back off, Canglong Sect! You’re just a third-rate sect. Our Min Family is a prominent clan in Dongshan Province. If the streamer has to choose, it’ll definitely be us!”
“Streamer…”
The livestream chat was in chaos. I cleared my throat and said, "Alright, everyone, let’s focus on the real topic here—the painting of the beautiful woman."
I explained the background of the painting and then gently ran my fingers across the paper. “It’s truly incredible. The texture feels just like human skin—silky smooth and soft, with a faint warmth to it.”
【Human skin used as canvas, that's disgusting.】
【Tch, if you think it’s gross, just don’t look.】
【Quit being dramatic. It’s no different from parchment.】
“Now, let's open the painting and see what kind of beauty is depicted,” I said as I untied the red cord binding the scroll, slowly unfurling the artwork.
A breathtakingly beautiful woman appeared in the painting. She was curvaceous yet not overweight, dressed in traditional Tang Dynasty attire, her hair styled in a high bun. Her lips were painted a deep red, and her smile was alluring, her eyes full of charm.
I was momentarily stunned and muttered, “This is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.”
Tang Mingli made a disdainful face and said, “Not that impressive.”
【Tyrant, stop pretending. You're overdoing it.】
【If this doesn’t count as beautiful, then what does? Tyrant, show us something prettier if you can.】
【This painting is enough to keep me busy for a year.】
【Ugh, I’m gonna be malnourished again; I need to go grab some supplements.】
I asked curiously, “Have you seen someone more beautiful?”
He glanced at me and replied, “Just look in the mirror.”
My face turned bright red in an instant.
【Tyrant, wow, your flirting skills are on point.】
【Tyrant looks so cool when he sweet-talks.】
【We still haven’t seen what the streamer looks like. Streamer, can we get a close-up, please?】
【Yeah, we really want to see your face!】
【I bet the streamer is really pretty. I mean, just look at her figure—she's got a model's body. A woman with that kind of figure has to be gorgeous.】
【To the person above, ha! Have you ever heard of the "turnaround shock"?】
I coughed twice to hide my embarrassment and said, “Stop joking around.”
Tang Mingli gazed at me deeply and said, “I’m not joking. Every word I say comes straight from my heart.”
“Ahem, let’s focus on the painting.” I lowered my head, changing the subject.
The background of the painting showed a Tang Dynasty-style palace, with layers upon layers of ornate chambers surrounded by exotic flowers and plants.
However, there was something extremely eerie about this grand palace.
“Look here,” I suddenly pointed at a window in the background. Inside the window, a shadowy black figure could faintly be seen.
“What’s that supposed to be?” I asked. “Go get a magnifying glass.”
When we used the magnifying glass, the shadow suddenly moved, flickering away in an instant, disappearing into the building.
Startled, I nearly dropped the magnifying glass.
【Holy crap, that scared me to death!】
【Warning: High alert! Non-combat personnel should retreat immediately!】
【I took a screenshot and used special software to zoom in 100 times. I saw a skull!】
【This painting is seriously creepy. Streamer, you better be careful.】
“Let’s check if there are any more shadows,” I suggested.
The two of us used the magnifying glass, inspecting one window after another. Suddenly, I gasped, pulling my hand away from the painting. A small cut had appeared on my finger, and bright red blood dripped onto the artwork, which absorbed it instantly.
“Damn it!” I exclaimed. “Quick, roll up the painting.”
Tang Mingli hurriedly rolled up the scroll, but it was too late. A bright red light erupted from the painting. I grabbed Tang Mingli's arm and shouted, “Forget the painting, let’s get out of here!”
