Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 152: Minor Trouble
Without wasting any time, Fu Qian put away his newly acquired reward and walked straight downstairs.
Before he had taken many steps, Fu Qian spotted the two men Grandma Liu mentioned.
Buzz cuts, sunglasses, matching outfits, and broad, burly figures. The two large men were looking around the residential compound.
Asking about someone with an appearance like that in a residential area was truly conspicuous.
Fu Qian didn't deliberately hide himself. The two also spotted him at this moment, froze for a second, exchanged a glance, and quickly followed him.
Fu Qian completely ignored them and continued walking toward his destination at his own pace.
Perhaps thinking there were too many eyes around, the two just followed from a distance and didn't rush to approach him.
This scene feels familiar... I think I just experienced this the day before yesterday.
Fu Qian sighed internally.
In fact, he highly suspected these two were here for that exact incident.
His social activities were extremely simple to sort through. After thinking it over, the only people who could incite this kind of conflict were those five vengeance-seeking individuals.
"Friend."
Not long after walking out of the residential area, the two trailing behind quickened their pace, and one of them stepped right in front of him.
"Can we have a word in private?"
"No!"
...
Fu Qian's answer clearly exceeded the man's expectations.
After freezing for a few seconds, Thug A's face turned cold. He reached out and slowly pulled up his sleeve, revealing a large tattoo on his arm.
The pedestrians who were watching the commotion quickly stepped aside.
"Is it convenient now?"
Thug A undoubtedly enjoyed this feeling, but halfway through his sentence, he realized the target had already walked away.
Fuck!
The man took two quick steps and blocked Fu Qian again.
Thug B, who was behind them, also hurried up and directly reached out to grab Fu Qian's arm.
"We don't want to make this ugly. You'd better cooperate."
Before he could finish his sentence, the man felt a numb sting in his palm, as if he had been whipped by something.
Before he could react to what had happened, his mind buzzed violently, and an uncontrollable surge of frantic rage welled up within him.
In his vision, the man opposite him was also standing blankly in place, while their target had already walked far away again.
Almost without thinking, he slapped the guy across the face.
"What are you good for? Why did you let him get away again?"
Huh?
Taking a slap to the face, the other man snapped out of his daze.
Upon realizing what had happened, he too was consumed by a vicious fury and swung a punch right at the other's face.
Fists and feet flew, noses bled, and in an instant, the two men were brawling with each other.
The Tyrant's Fist was practically instantaneous on ordinary people. Just now, Fu Qian had only lightly brushed them with the whip-like effect.
Fu Qian didn't even have the interest to turn his head and look at the intense scene unfolding behind him.
He was experiencing a bit of aesthetic fatigue when it came to scenes like this.
Even when they fell to the ground, the two didn't forget to bite each other, giving the onlookers a spectacular show.
...
A person must have a healthy physique; only then can they eat unhealthy food to their heart's content.
Finding a seat, Fu Qian took a massive gulp of ice-cold "happy water" and let out a sigh of contentment.
Those two were clearly just grunts. If nothing unexpected happened, the mastermind would show up soon.
Sure enough, about ten minutes later, someone pushed the door and walked in.
It was a middle-aged man in his forties. He wasn't tall, but he had an imposing presence and sharp brows. At a glance, he looked like someone used to giving orders.
The middle-aged man walked straight to Fu Qian's table, pulled out a chair, sat down, and stared at him intently.
Compared to the previous two gentlemen, although his physical build was lacking, his aura was much stronger.
However, right now he looked somewhat murderous, scaring the two young girls at the next table into lowering their heads and eating furiously.
"I am Xu Meng."
After a long silence, the man finally spoke, his voice deep.
"Two days ago, my son had a little accident."
Xu Meng kept his eyes fixed on Fu Qian as he spoke.
"To this day, he can't speak, can't communicate, and can't even eat by himself. His ability to care for himself is worse than a child's."
"I don't believe any of those messy explanations, and I don't want to ask for the reason. I only know that if someone did this to him, I will definitely make them pay."
So he is here for revenge after all.
"This should be you, right?"
Xu Meng pulled out two photos and tossed them in front of Fu Qian.
Fu Qian took a look. One was an image of him throwing a cola at someone, and the other was of him carrying groceries while leaving the supermarket.
Although the images were a bit blurry, they were still recognizable.
"I want to know, where did you go after that?"
"After buying my things, naturally, I went home."
Faced with Xu Meng's interrogation, Fu Qian smiled.
This man clearly knew his son quite well. From the intersection between a member of the five-person group and himself, Xu Meng had deduced that there might have been a conflict.
But the fact that he could only produce these few pictures basically meant he didn't have anything else.
Thinking about it, it made sense. Those guys deliberately waited until they were on the bridge to make their move, so it was highly likely they wouldn't leave any other records behind.
Of course, even if there were records, it wouldn't matter.
"What about in between? Did you run into him? What did you do to him? You'd better tell the truth..."
Xu Meng's face suddenly turned ferocious.
"You won't want to see my methods."
"If I were you, I wouldn't want to display your methods."
Fu Qian took another sip of his cola.
...
The fierce glint in his eyes could almost pierce the person in front of him. For a split second, Xu Meng almost wanted to attack right then and there.
His son suffered a sudden accident and became practically crippled overnight.
This sudden misfortune made him angry, but more than that, he felt stifled.
Because it truly didn't seem like something a human could do; more than one person had even seen strange flashes of light.
But doing nothing was absolutely unacceptable to him.
No matter what, he had to find a target to vent his anger on.
Fu Qian naturally observed Xu Meng's reaction and completely understood the man's mindset.
He also knew that trying to defend himself right now was meaningless.
Whether he was innocent or not, it likely wouldn't change this man's mind.
Of course, there was no need to defend himself anyway.
The greatest benefit of dealing with people who believe in the law of the jungle is that you don't have to waste time reasoning with them.
And this man had mistakenly found the right person, but clearly didn't understand the true disparity in power.
Just then, Fu Qian's phone suddenly rang.
Tan Ying? Why is she calling me?
Fu Qian picked it up and answered. Tan Ying's hurried voice came through.
"Where are you?"
"Eating."
"Pei Yanqing ran into something strange today and just mentioned it to me."
"Earlier today, someone was asking her about you with your photo. She didn't say anything at the time, but later felt it was strange and told me, asking if I should warn you. Are you in some kind of trouble?"
From Tan Ying's tone, the two were already quite familiar.
"Thanks for the warning, it's just a minor issue."
"So, did some strange people come looking for trouble with you today?"
"Yeah, he's sitting right across from me."
