Horror Camgirl - Ch. 147: Free Clinic

But honestly, I really don’t want to see him anymore.

After finishing shopping, I took a cab home. The driver was a woman, and she kept glancing at my lips. After hesitating for a while, she finally said, "Young lady, your lipstick color is so beautiful! Where did you buy it? It must be expensive, right?"

"I made it myself," I said with a smile.

"Really?" She was surprised. "It's so pretty, even better than the big brand ones. I don’t have much money, but if it’s within three or four hundred yuan, I’d definitely buy one."

A thought sparked in my mind—maybe I could create more colors and release some new products through my brand, Absolute Beauty?

A brand with only one product, no matter how good it is, can't grow and become successful.

"Driver, please take me to the Traditional Chinese Medicine street. I need to get some herbs," I said.

"Got it." The driver responded, and soon I arrived at the street, which was full of traditional-style buildings, all of them Traditional Chinese Medicine shops. Hardly anyone uses the official name of this street; everyone just calls it the Traditional Chinese Medicine Street.

Hui Zhen Pavilion was also located on this street. Although I wasn’t a fan of the owner, the products there were quite good, so I didn't really mind.

When I got there, I realized the street was packed with people, like a market in the countryside.

I walked into Hui Zhen Pavilion and asked curiously, "Shopkeeper, what’s going on here? Why is it so crowded today?"

The shopkeeper smiled and said, "Madam Yuan, have you heard of Doctor Li Sheng?"

I looked confused, and the shopkeeper explained, "Li Sheng studied under Qin Zhizhen, a renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine master, and is Qin Master’s third disciple. He usually travels throughout the northern regions and is very famous there. This is his first visit to the south, and word spread throughout Shan City three days ago. Many people have come here hoping to get treated by him."

Qin Zhizhen again.

I do seem to have a lot of fate with this master.

"With so many people here today, can he treat them all?" I asked.

"Of course not," the shopkeeper said, "So they're doing a lottery draw today. Ten patients will be selected, and Doctor Li will treat them."

I was starting to like this Doctor Li Sheng a little—at least he wasn't choosing patients based on who could pay the most.

Since I wasn't in a rush to go home, I decided to stay and watch.

Li Sheng was seeing patients at Huimin Pavilion across the street. In front of Huimin Pavilion, there was a large red box, and the shop owner himself came to draw the lottery. Soon, ten names were drawn, and the people who got selected were, of course, thrilled, while those who didn't were sighing and complaining about their bad luck.

At that moment, an elderly lady pushed a wheelchair forward. Sitting in the wheelchair was a boy, about ten years old, with a sallow face, purplish lips, a bald head, and a body so thin he was practically skin and bones. He looked like he didn’t have many days left.

Although the old lady’s clothes were expensive, they were worn and somewhat faded. But her demeanor was elegant; she was clearly from a wealthy family.

"Sigh, it's Old Lady Zhao and her grandson again," the shopkeeper sighed. "To be honest, what's the point of all this? She knows the child doesn't have long, why not let him go in peace? What good does all this struggle do?"

I asked, "Is this old lady quite well off?"

"Yes," the shopkeeper said. "Old Lady Zhao’s son was in the lumber business. It was a big operation, and the family was quite wealthy. But three years ago, her son and daughter-in-law took their young grandson to the Northeast to buy lumber. They all fell ill with a strange disease. Her son never even made it back home—he died in the Northeast. The daughter-in-law managed to return with the grandson, but she passed away within a month, leaving only the little boy."

"I heard that Old Lady Zhao spent a fortune to buy a century-old ginseng to prolong her grandson's life, which is why he's still alive. Over the years, she has taken her grandson all over the country, seeing numerous Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors, Western doctors, even Tibetan and Dai medicine practitioners, but nothing has helped. They haven't even been able to determine the cause of his illness."

I sighed, "That really does sound heartbreaking."

"Sigh, when a person falls ill, there's no one who's not pitiful," the shopkeeper lamented. "Just look at those patients in the ICU, each of them is miserable. That's why Buddha says that people must endure the suffering of birth, aging, illness, and death."

I looked closely at the elderly woman and her grandson in the crowd, feeling a twinge of surprise in my heart. Could it be?

The grandmother and grandson had already moved forward, approaching one of the people who had drawn a spot. They pleaded, "Dear lady, could you sell this spot to me? I'm desperate to get my grandson treated. I'll pay any amount."

Hearing this, the people around them were moved, and they quickly tried to find those who had a spot, hoping to buy one.

However, most of the people who had come today were suffering from serious illnesses or complicated conditions. None of them were willing to give up their spot.

The middle-aged woman replied to Old Lady Zhao, "I can't sell this spot. Your grandson may need treatment, but my son is also seriously ill. Please, don't blame me for being heartless. Your grandson is your treasure, but my son is my whole life."

Old Lady Zhao asked all ten people, one by one, but none of them were willing to sell. She was on the verge of tears, and then suddenly knelt at the entrance of Huimin Pavilion, calling out loudly, "Doctor Li, I heard you are a kind-hearted, virtuous doctor. Please, save my grandson. This old woman kneels here and begs you."

The owner of Huimin Pavilion rushed over to help her up and said, "Please, ma'am, don't do this. It's not that Dr. Li won't treat your grandson, but there are just too many people here today. If Dr. Li treats you, then what about the others? Everyone needs treatment, and how could Dr. Li manage all of them? Alas, it seems that fate hasn't brought you and Dr. Li together today. Please, go home."

"No." Old Lady Zhao knelt at the entrance, resolutely saying, "If I can't see Dr. Li today, I will stay here and won't get up."

The owner of Huimin Pavilion could do nothing and said, "If you want to kneel, I won't stop you, but Dr. Li will not treat your grandson."

With that, he ignored Old Lady Zhao and went back to organizing the treatment of those who had spots.

One by one, the ten patients entered Huimin Pavilion and then left, each with a smile on their face. Clearly, Dr. Li was indeed very skilled.

I was silent for a while and then suddenly said to the shopkeeper, "Shopkeeper, can I borrow a piece of paper and a pen?"

I took the pen and paper, writing two characters: Free Clinic. I then asked the shopkeeper for a table and a chair, setting them up at the entrance of Hui Zhen Pavilion.

My actions quickly drew a lot of attention. A crowd gathered, pointing and whispering about me.

"This young lady is really pretty, but she's so young. She doesn't look like a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine."

"Maybe she's a model hired by Hui Zhen Pavilion to create some hype?"

"Could be, but if that's the case, isn't she going against Huimin Pavilion's owner? Offending Huimin Pavilion's boss is one thing, but offending Dr. Li is much more serious."

The owner of Hui Zhen Pavilion hurried out to clarify, "Everyone, please don't misunderstand. This Madam Yuan is not a model we hired. On the contrary, she's one of our best customers who often buys rare medicinal herbs from us. If you don’t believe me, you can ask other traditional Chinese medicine stores—Madam Yuan frequently buys herbs, and almost every store has done business with her."

At this point, someone in the crowd added, "This lady is quite well-known in the traditional medicine street. Whenever she buys something, it's always the most precious herbs, costing millions in minutes."

People showed surprise. "If she's rich, she probably isn't a fraud."

"Not necessarily," someone said cynically. "A lot of young people these days don’t care about money; they do things just for excitement. Maybe she’s just trying to show off because she saw Dr. Li here today and knew there would be a crowd."

I turned to look and saw that the speaker was a beautiful woman. No wonder they say only pretty women can’t stand other pretty women.

I spoke loudly, "Today, I’m offering a free clinic. I won't charge a single cent for consultation. Anyone who trusts me can come forward, and if you don’t trust me, I won’t force you."

The owner of Huimin Pavilion glanced at me with a disdainful look, clearly not taking me seriously.

I sat there for a good half an hour. Many people watched, but not a single one approached to ask for treatment. Old Lady Zhao was still kneeling there, but I wasn't anxious; I sat calmly, waiting.

At that moment, a man who looked like a thug walked over with a mischievous grin. He said, "Hey, beautiful, why don't you take a look at me?"

I glanced at him, then turned away and said, "I don't treat sexually transmitted diseases. Go to the urology department at a hospital."
