Horror Camgirl - Ch. 155: Yin Shengyao's Flower

He raised his arm and swung it horizontally, drawing a stark black line across the snowy landscape.

This was a simple, unadorned strike, looking as if an ordinary person was just waving a sword around aimlessly. However, Brother Huang's hand suddenly froze in mid-air, the axe stopping just a centimeter above Yin Shengyao's head, even slicing off a small lock of his hair.

Brother Huang slowly lowered his head and looked down at his body, only to find a line appearing across his chest. Crimson blood began to seep from the line.

He moved slightly, and with just that tiny movement, his body split along the line into two halves, with the upper half slipping down and falling to the ground.

"No… impossible, you..." Brother Huang spat out blood, looking at Yin Shengyao in disbelief. He was supposed to be stronger and even had a Magical Artifact, so why was he the one who ended up dying?

And to die so miserably!

Yin Shengyao looked down at him, his gaze cold, and said, "The infamous Brother Huang, not much after all."

Brother Huang was enraged, holding on to his last breath, and loudly ordered the mercenaries, "Fire! Shoot them! Kill them!"

But the mercenaries, though holding guns, did not make a move.

Yin Shengyao spoke, "Do you know why they haven't moved? Because you are already a dead man. And how could a dead man possibly pay them the rest of their money?"

Brother Huang's expression turned twisted. Recently, Lord Hu had taken advantage of his troubles to seize a lot of his power, and his most loyal and capable men were all occupied. Besides, given Yin Shengyao's special status, he chose to kill him in these deep mountains to avoid leaving any incriminating evidence, which meant he only brought these foreign mercenaries.

He had planned to kill Yin Shengyao and then silence the mercenaries, but he hadn't expected to end up dooming himself.

Yin Shengyao looked around, his gaze sweeping across the faces of the mercenaries. "Whatever he's paying you, I'll double it."

The mercenary leader was silent for a moment, then raised his hand, and the group collectively lowered their guns. Brother Huang's eyes were wide with fury, but he was helpless, and with great reluctance, he breathed his last.

"This young man is truly remarkable," Cloud Fairy praised once more. "Courageous and wise, with a regal aura about him. It's a pity we no longer live in an age of emperors, or he surely would have become a great monarch."

I felt a cold sweat break out across my forehead.

With Brother Huang dealt with, everything else was simple. We paid off the mercenaries, and I split half of the Black Spider Fruit I had gathered with Yin Shengyao. A trace of melancholy flashed through his eyes.

"If I had gotten this Black Spider Fruit years ago, maybe my grandfather would still be alive today," he said softly. "My grandfather was not only a skilled physician but also a Spiritual Power Master. But when he was training, he encountered a mishap, and his Sea of Consciousness suffered a severe injury. His Spiritual Power level dropped rapidly."

He sighed lightly. "Everyone in Medicine King Valley did everything they could, but in the end, no one could save him. He passed away in less than a year, filled with regret. The thing he worried most about before he died was me and..."

He paused here, sighed again, and said, "Forget it, it's all in the past now."

I hesitated for a moment and said, "You did everything you could back then. You don't need to blame yourself."

I must have lost my mind to be comforting him!

He gave a faint smile and said, "When I was in the mountains years ago, I found a Spiritual Plant. It wasn't mature then, but it should be by now. Want to go see it?"

"What kind of Spiritual Plant?" I asked.

Yin Shengyao pulled out a photo, and when I saw it, my eyes widened.

This—this is Moonlight Grass, isn’t it? It absorbs the essence of the sun and moon, grows in extremely cold regions, and is also an important ingredient for the Soul-Rising Pill!

Could Yin Shengyao possibly know that I want to refine the Soul-Rising Pill?

"So, what do you think? Interested?" he asked.

An internal battle raged in my mind, and finally, I gritted my teeth and said, "Alright, I'm in."

Yin Shengyao's lips curled into a slight smile, and he pressed the gas pedal, driving deeper into the mountains.

Seeing his smile, why did I feel like I was getting on a pirate ship?

We drove through the mountains all day, and night began to fall. Driving in the snow-covered mountains at night was practically a death wish.

There are many Herb Diggers in Changbai Mountain, so there are several small wooden cabins. He stopped the car in front of one, opening the door.

The air was filled with a strange smell, and there was dust everywhere—it seemed no one had lived there for a long time.

Inside the cabin were two beds, and pots, dishes, and cooking utensils were all still there. I filled a basin with water, cleaned the dishes, and began preparing dinner.

Yin Shengyao had made thorough preparations; the car was stocked with rice, meat, and even a complete set of seasonings. He also foraged for some wild mushrooms nearby, and soon had a pot of steaming hot broth ready.

The aroma of pork and mushrooms filled the air, drifting through the wooden cabin in the forest. Both of us were hungry, and we couldn't help but swallow involuntarily.

This was the first time I realized how much Yin Shengyao could eat. He cooked a full four pounds of meat, and ended up eating three of them himself, drinking most of the broth too. He ate quickly, like a whirlwind devouring everything in its path.

Tang Mingli also ate a lot and ate quickly, but his movements were always graceful. Yin Shengyao, on the other hand, was rough, like an unrefined woodsman. When he ate, he wasn’t much different from those Herb Diggers.

He caught me staring at him and chuckled, "What? Do you think I'm a bit crude?"

How he eats doesn’t concern me at all.

I muttered inwardly but said nothing aloud. He continued smiling, "I lived in the Changbai Mountains for six years, often foraging for food and cooking it over a fire. Sitting around a campfire, drinking and eating like that—there’s no room for elegance."

With that, he pulled a bottle of liquor from his bag. It was vodka. He handed it to me, saying, "Want a drink? It'll warm you up."

I took it and drank. The taste wasn’t great, but it brought a warm sensation to my stomach.

We passed the bottle back and forth like that until we had finished the entire bottle of vodka.

By the end, my face wasn't even flushed, and Yin Shengyao looked at me in surprise, saying, "You… really aren't drunk?"

"I’ve never been able to get drunk since I was a kid," I replied.

Yin Shengyao looked a little resigned. There was a hint of drunkenness in his eyes as he leaned back in his chair, his whole body looking relaxed. "It's been a long time since I've been this drunk."

He took another big gulp, then let his head slump to the side as he gradually fell asleep.

I looked up at him. His neck lay completely exposed in front of me, defenseless. If I drove a blade into his carotid artery right now, he would certainly die.

I clenched my fist. Maybe he didn’t kill my brother with his own hands, but it was because of him that my brother ended up that way. He even protected the true culprit.

He was my enemy!

I drew the Tao Wood short sword from my boot and slowly approached him, slowly raising the blade.

If I just thrust it in, everything would be over. All the hatred, my brother's revenge—it would all be settled.

My hand was shaking uncontrollably. Why couldn't I do it? I hated him so much—why couldn't I bring myself to finish this?

After a long moment, I let my hand fall weakly, as if all my strength had left me.

An Yi, I’m sorry. I can’t kill him. I’m too soft-hearted.

"Why don’t you do it?" A low voice suddenly came from behind me.

My heart skipped a beat. I turned around to see that he still had his eyes closed. I said in shock, "You aren’t drunk."

"I am drunk," he said. "Otherwise, I would have stopped you the moment you picked up the knife."

I took a deep breath and walked straight toward the door. He asked, "Where are you going?"

"You know I want to kill you, and you still want to share a room with me?" I said with a sneer.

He finally opened his eyes and looked deeply at me, saying, "From the beginning, I knew you wanted to kill me. If I’m willing to make a deal with you, I’m not afraid of your intentions. It’s freezing outside; the temperature can drop to below negative thirty at night. Even if you're a Taoist Cultivator, going out there is suicide. Get some rest; we still have a journey ahead of us tomorrow."

With that, he stood up, walked over to the bed, and lay down to sleep. I felt a confusing mix of emotions. I didn’t know what to feel, so I just sat cross-legged by the fire and meditated, cultivating throughout the night.

The next morning, we set off again. Yin Shengyao behaved as if nothing had happened the night before, calm and unaffected.

But my heart was uneasy. What was he thinking? Why was he still keeping me, a clear threat, by his side? Was he really not afraid that I’d find another chance to kill him?

Was he just bold, or was he confident in his own abilities?

Around noon, he suddenly stopped the car by the side of the road and jumped out. I asked curiously, "Are we there?"

He walked a few hundred meters into the forest, brushed aside a patch of grass, and revealed a small mound of earth. A rotting wooden marker was stuck into the mound, though whatever had been written on it had long since faded.

He cleared away the weeds, then placed a piece of meat in front of the mound.

I asked, "Who’s buried here?"

"It’s my Darkfire," he said. "When I was six, I found an injured wolf pup in the forest. Its mother had already died. If I hadn’t helped it, it would have frozen or starved to death very soon."

I paused for a moment, then asked, "How did it die?"

"To save me," Yin Shengyao said. "Years ago, I found a Three-Nine Flower. I didn’t expect there to be a venomous snake coiled next to it. When the snake attacked me, Darkfire bit it to death, but the snake managed to bite him. It was venomous, an Exotic Beast. The poison was so potent that my antidotes were useless. Within minutes, it was gone."

He gently touched the wooden marker, saying softly, "Darkfire, I’ve come to see you."

For some reason, I felt a twinge of pain in my heart, a tightness in my chest. I sniffed, feeling my nose sting a little.

So, he was someone capable of such deep feelings. No wonder he was willing to take the blame for the one who ran over my brother.

Was that person someone important to him?

Were they a man or a woman?

I frowned. Why did I even care? Whether they were a man or a woman, I would still kill them to avenge my brother.

Suddenly, I caught a whiff of a faint floral fragrance. Looking down, I saw Yin Shengyao holding a small white flower in front of me.
