Horror Camgirl - Ch. 157: You Are a Witch

Old Cai said anxiously, "Old Wang! Xiao Jin is Old Huang's son! Remember when you were almost crushed to death by that boulder? It was Old Huang who pushed you out of the way and saved your life! Have you forgotten all of that?"

Old Wang gritted his teeth, then shamelessly retorted, "I never asked him to save me! He was just being stupid!"

Old Cai shouted angrily, "You beast! You’re nothing but a beast!"

Old Wang picked up the knife he had been using to dig for herbs and said, "Old Cai, don't be so foolish in your next life. This is what happens when you try to be a good person." With that, he swung the knife toward Old Cai's head.

Just at that moment, the door swung open. I walked in with long strides.

Old Wang’s knife froze in mid-air, and everyone turned to stare at me in shock.

Outside, it was a world of ice and snow. I walked in, removing my hat as I did, and my long hair flowed down like water.

"Who are you?" Old Wang asked, his voice trembling slightly, knowing he was caught in the act of murder.

I pulled down my mask and looked at them coldly.

The moonlight and the snowy glow from outside shone on my face, making my skin seem even paler, like white snow.

They were stunned by my appearance, rendered speechless for quite a while.

"Old Wang, what is a woman this beautiful doing here in the deep mountains?" one of the heavyset men muttered, "I heard there are fox spirits that turn into women around Changbai Mountain. Could she be one of them?"

Old Wang swallowed, unconsciously stepping back.

I stepped forward, leaned down, and spoke to Old Cai, "Your eighty-year-old ginseng, I'll buy it for three million. In exchange, I'll save your life. What do you think?"

Old Cai was stunned. He didn’t expect me to take advantage of the situation—after all, the ginseng was worth four million, and I had slashed a million off the price.

But at a moment when his life was on the line, money hardly mattered.

"Fine! As long as you save my life," he said, "Three million, three million it is!"

The corner of my mouth curved up slightly, and I gave a faint smile. "Alright, I will save you."

With that, I pulled out a Detoxifying Pill and pushed it into his mouth. Old Wang’s expression changed, and without saying anything, he swung his knife at the back of my head.

I dodged easily and flicked my fingers, sending a spark onto him. The flame spread quickly over the hand holding the knife.

"Aaah!" He screamed, dropping the knife and frantically trying to put out the fire, but it spread up his arm and soon engulfed his head. He screamed in pain, rolling on the ground.

I looked at him coldly. "Now you see, bad people meet a bad end."

Old Wang soon stopped moving, and the rest of them were pale with fear. They screamed, "A witch! She’s really a witch! She knows magic! Run, run for your lives!"

They scrambled out of the house, tumbling over each other in their haste, and jumped into the off-road vehicle outside, only to find that it wouldn’t start.

I approached the vehicle slowly, made a quick gesture, and ice crystals began to spread over the wheels, terrifying them even more.

Abandoning the car, they fell out of it and dashed off into the frozen wilderness on foot.

Though it wasn’t snowing, trekking into the vast snowy mountains on foot was as good as a death sentence.

I returned to the room. Yin Shengyao was already sitting by the fire. Old Cai was helping Xiao Jin to sit up, pressing on an acupressure point to revive him. Slowly, Xiao Jin began to regain consciousness.

He opened his eyes and, seeing me standing next to Old Cai, gasped, "So...so beautiful. Are you an angel? Have I died and gone to heaven?"

Old Cai smacked him on the head. "Snap out of it, kid! You’re not dead. These two are our saviors—they rescued us."

Xiao Jin rubbed the back of his head, finding his hand covered in blood. "What about Uncle Wang and the others?"

Old Cai's face darkened. He nodded toward the floor. Xiao Jin looked over and saw a charred corpse, jumping up in fright.

Yin Shengyao spoke, "You two, drag that thing out of here."

Xiao Jin didn’t dare move, but Old Cai respectfully bowed and said, "Yes, senior."

In the world of martial artists, respect was given to those with greater power, and they were addressed as "senior."

Old Cai dragged the corpse out and buried it somewhere. Ever since Xiao Jin learned I was the one who killed Old Wang, he kept his distance from me, his face full of fear, not daring even to look in my direction.

When Old Cai heard we intended to cross the mountain to reach the southern slope, he looked terrified. "Senior, are you heading to Wolong Pool?"

"That’s right," Yin Shengyao replied.

Old Cai hurriedly waved his hand, saying, "You can't go, you can't go. Senior, Wolong Pool is no ordinary place. It's said that there's a vicious dragon lurking there, one that specifically eats Herb Diggers. Some people heard there were a lot of good Spiritual Plants growing there, and they gathered their courage to go in, but none of them made it out—they all ended up in that dragon's stomach."

Yin Shengyao replied calmly, "You don't need to worry about that."

Old Cai still wanted to try and dissuade us, but seeing that we were determined, he could only sigh and shake his head repeatedly.

There was no cell signal here, so I couldn't make a payment, but Old Cai willingly gave me the Ginseng. Out here in the deep mountains, if we had wanted to kill them and take the Ginseng by force, they couldn't have stopped us. He figured it was better to take the initiative and improve our relationship.

I took down his bank account number and told him I'd transfer the money when I got back.

Early the next morning, we climbed over the mountain ridge and arrived at Wolong Pool. It was a natural pond that had already frozen over.

From a distance, we heard voices.

To our surprise, a group of people had arrived before us. They must have come up from the base of the mountain on this side. They were all heavily armed, some even carrying rifles.

"Mr. Park, if you're looking for Spiritual Plants at Wolong Pool, you need to come during the coldest part of winter," said a short, stocky man in his twenties, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. "My grandfather used to say it's best to come in January, when the dragon is hibernating at the bottom of the pool, in its deepest sleep. The Moonlight Grass my grandfather found was picked in January."

This Mr. Park was South Korean, in his thirties or forties, and his face was full of arrogance.

"My father's illness can't wait," he said coldly. "I need to get the Moonlight Grass today, or you won't be seeing any pay."

A hint of dissatisfaction flashed across the short man's eyes, but he dared not say anything, only nodding and replying, "Then we need to move quickly. We absolutely must not disturb the dragon."

Mr. Park sneered, "What dragon? At most, it's a big snake. I’ve got all these people with me—if we can't handle one big snake, what's the point? If we do wake it up, even better. I'll take its gallbladder back. It might even make a good medicine."

The short man looked bitter. His name was Fang Xin, and his family had been Herb Diggers for generations. His grandfather's last trip to the mountains had been an attempt to brave Wolong Pool. Against all odds, he made it back alive and even brought a rare Moonlight Grass, selling it for a large sum of money.

If it weren't for the fact that he'd lost all his family's savings, Fang Xin would never have agreed to bring this arrogant South Korean to look for Moonlight Grass.

In his heart, he silently prayed that they wouldn't disturb the dragon sleeping at the bottom of the pool.

"Where exactly is the Moonlight Grass?" Mr. Park asked impatiently. "You've led us in circles twice now."

"Please be patient, sir. We’ll find it soon, very soon," Fang Xin said nervously, swallowing hard. He'd only heard about it from his grandfather once, many years ago.

Mr. Park's eyes narrowed. "If you can’t find it, don't bother coming back today."

Fang Xin felt a shiver run up his spine. These rich people didn't care about the lives of others.

"Moonlight Grass, where are you?" he muttered quietly to himself, searching the snow with hands that had gone bright red from the cold.

In truth, winter wasn't the ideal season for searching the mountains for Spiritual Plants, but many of them, like Moonlight Grass, only matured in the depths of winter.

"Ow!" He hadn't been paying attention and tripped over a stone buried in the snow, falling face-first to the ground.

"Damn it, when you're unlucky, even drinking water will make you choke," he cursed as he got back on his feet, then suddenly caught sight of a clump of pale, shimmering grass.

"Moonlight Grass! It's really Moonlight Grass!" he cried out in excitement, rushing over. The grass was white, like moonlight, glowing faintly as if surrounded by a soft radiance.

Mr. Park strode forward, shoving Fang Xin aside, his face lighting up with joy. "Everyone, dig up all these clumps of grass for me!"

Fang Xin was taken aback. "Mr. Park, there's no need to pull up the roots. You can just cut it. If we leave the roots, it can grow again next winter."

Mr. Park laughed loudly. "I'm pulling it up by the roots to take it back to South Korea. I’ll plant it there, and then we can harvest a clump of Spiritual Plants every year, can't we?"
