Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 187: White Porcelain Doll (V)
Awakened from his stupor by Fu Qian's reminder, Delin immediately ordered his team to retreat.
Actually, they didn't need his order; most of them had already backed away at the first moment.
Someone tried to help a teammate beside them, but upon grabbing their arm, found it light and bearing no weight.
The fallen teammate was like a ragdoll in the hands of an irritable child, dismembered in the blink of an eye.
This brutal scene left him stunned. Had a teammate beside him not pulled him away, he nearly would have been caught by the dolls.
Even so, a large chunk of flesh was torn from his forearm.
For a moment, no one dared to tend to the wounded anymore. They all retreated far back, as if they had been electrocuted.
The human body was truly too fragile; the screams of the three who fell didn't last long.
Brutal as always!
Fu Qian sighed with emotion as he watched from the sidelines.
He had to admit, the movements of these dolls were truly stealthy.
They must have come from underground just now. Although it was partly due to him deliberately suppressing his perception, being able to get this close before being discovered was quite impressive.
Facing a sudden ambush without the scene being prepared in advance, even with the tacit cooperation among Delin's team members, they were still somewhat overwhelmed.
Moreover, the dolls acted out of character. They showed absolutely no interest in the struggling monster behind them, consistently targeting the team members instead.
They're much more organized today!
Fu Qian saw through the clues.
In terms of numbers, the group of dolls was about the same as yesterday, perhaps even fewer.
But if they were a bunch of rowdy brats running wild before, now they were basically at a Boy Scout level of coordination.
Their actions even vaguely coordinated with each other.
Amid the screams, soon another person was injured.
Damn it!
At this moment, Fu Qian heard Delin beside him curse.
The next moment, his two hands suddenly swelled, rapidly stretching into two massive cyan-black arms.
A layer of bloody light flowed over their surface. The palms at the ends were almost as large as three heads, directly slamming down on the dolls.
One doll couldn't dodge in time and was smacked straight into the ground, wedged forcefully into the solid rock.
Even so, it looked completely undamaged, struggling a bit and getting ready to crawl out.
The next second, an arrow carrying an aura of extreme cold struck it.
Though it didn't cause any physical damage, it splashed a cloud of ice mist.
Frost condensed, instantly freezing the doll inside.
Fu Qian noted that the one who fired this arrow was actually the balding archer; it was really hard to tell he had such excellent archery skills.
At this moment, the latter had a solemn expression, firing arrow after arrow without stopping. Upon hitting the rocks, they condensed into large blocks of solid ice, thoroughly sealing the dolls inside.
The others finally regained their senses and showcased their respective abilities, no longer in a state of being one-sidedly pummeled.
Just as the situation slowly stabilized, an unexpected mutation occurred.
Delin, who was wildly smashing his fists and acting as the absolute main force, suddenly let out a suppressed roar.
The next moment, veins bulged on his face and neck, his flesh writhing.
In less than five seconds, Delin transformed into a grotesque, cyan-black giant.
After fully transforming, his power also skyrocketed. With a single slap, he shattered a doll that had climbed onto his thigh, sending fragments flying everywhere.
This brutal scene not only intimidated the enemies, but the team members also looked somewhat terrified.
At this point, the dolls seemed to have received some signal and began to flee in perfect unison.
The team members chased and tried to intercept them, but given the speed gap, their efforts yielded little result.
The escape route chosen by one of them happened to be toward Fu Qian, who kicked it right back in the face, sending it straight into Delin's fist.
Delin didn't hold back either, slapping it from mid-air to the ground with a single blow, followed by a stomp.
Double Kill!
In the blink of an eye, the dolls had completely fled, but Delin showed no intention of stopping. His bulging giant eyes immediately scanned his surroundings.
The deathly silent team members instinctively continued to retreat.
At this moment, Delin spotted the giant beast beside him and pounced on it with a howl.
Crack!
The creature that a whole group of people couldn't handle just moments ago had its carapace punched right through by him.
However, it didn't end there.
Through the net, the bloodshot-eyed Delin grabbed the monster's massive claw with both hands and forcibly twisted it one hundred and eighty degrees.
After a violent struggle, the monster completely lost all signs of life.
"Calm down."
At this moment, Mr. Luo's voice sounded. It seemed to carry some wondrous rhythm that made one feel drowsy upon hearing it.
At the same time, a dense dark light enveloped Delin's body.
The latter's movements finally slowed down. His body shrank rapidly like a deflating balloon, until he slowly sat down on the ground.
Realizing there was no longer a threat, his team members stepped forward and supported him to the side.
With this, the attack finally came to an end, but the scene was a picture of utter devastation.
With three falling to the sneak attack at the very beginning, plus one injured and Delin, the team's combat effectiveness was almost halved instantly.
Who could have expected the situation to become this brutal all at once.
It was somewhat ironic. The original intention was to come out and catch bait to lure the dolls into a trap, but unexpectedly, they took the initiative to attack.
In a way, it did achieve the effect of luring the enemy.
Just as morale was at rock bottom, a burst of giggling laughter rang out.
The team members thought those creatures had returned, and collectively shuddered in fear.
The next moment, broken ice splattered everywhere; the one that was previously frozen in ice had finally broken free.
Witnessing this, the team members looked at each other, their killing intent surging.
Just as they were about to surround it, with a squeak, the doll had already fallen into Mr. Luo's hands.
Fu Qian could see clearly from a distance that this one had a rather unique shape—it actually had four arms!
Although the dolls were all different, this was definitely one he hadn't seen before.
However, Mr. Luo scrutinized it for a long time, ultimately shaking his head in disappointment. He tossed it back to the team members, gesturing for them to dispose of it as they pleased.
Thus, amid a sharp shriek, this doll was directly hammered into fragments.
"You realized they were coming just now?"
Unexpectedly, the balding archer who had performed quite brilliantly just now walked over to Fu Qian.
Quite sharp ears!
Fu Qian glanced at him. If he remembered correctly, this guy was also part of the perimeter lookout, just like him.
He must have overheard the conversation with Delin.
"Yes."
Fu Qian nodded.
There was nothing to hide.
"How did you notice?"
The archer's eyes lit up upon hearing this.
"These guys are simply elusive, impossible to guard against."
"I specialize in scouting, my perception is strong."
...
The archer was speechless for a moment.
"What were you doing just now?"
At this time, the woman from the conjoined twin incident also noticed their conversation. She looked at Fu Qian with a very hostile attitude.
After a desperate life-or-death struggle, Fu Qian was the cleanest person there. It was impossible for her not to have a problem with that.
Looking at Delin's state, if I had made a move, the chances of you all being alive right now would be less than ten percent.
Fu Qian knew what she was thinking but didn't even spare her a glance.
"I specialize in scouting."
...
"And although I didn't raise a hand, I did raise a foot."
