Horror Camgirl - Ch. 174: Is Having Money So Great?

As I spoke, I took out my phone, and the people around me all nodded.

"This young lady is beautiful and kind-hearted."

"Yeah, if it were someone else, they wouldn't care about this kind of trouble. They'd just walk away."

Old Lady Yuan was both angry and anxious. She had always been domineering at home and had bullied my mother a lot in the past. Now, in her frustration, she lost control and swung her hand towards my face: "You little brat, how dare you treat your grandmother like this! I'll beat you to death today, you worthless girl!"

I shifted slightly, silently avoiding her blow. She swung and missed, then turned around to grab at me again.

"Didn't expect this old woman to lose it like that, she's even hitting people." Someone couldn't stand it anymore and called for security. The security guards came over and each grabbed one of her arms, pulling her away.

She immediately started shouting at the top of her lungs, "The security guards are hitting me! You're all ganging up to bully this old lady!"

At this moment, Tang Mingli walked over, standing by my side, and said, "Don't worry, the ambulance will be here soon."

Sure enough, within two minutes, an ambulance pulled up, with some words indicating a psychiatric hospital written on it.

The doors opened, and several people in white coats—doctors and nurses—jumped out. The bystanders all started shouting, "Doctor, come quick, there's a lunatic here!"

These nurses were all strong men, and they easily lifted Old Lady Yuan onto the ambulance, which then sped away.

I glanced at Tang Mingli, "Did you call that ambulance?"

Tang Mingli smiled a bit and said, "Dare to bully you? This is already light."

I laughed, "Nicely done."

He quickly said, "How about rewarding me with a good meal?"

"No problem."

Just after dinner, Tang Mingli went to wash the dishes, and there was a knock on the door again. I rolled my eyes and said, "What day is it today, so many visitors."

I opened the door, and this time, there was a richly dressed woman standing outside with an assistant beside her, her face full of arrogance.

"Are you Yuan Junyao?" she said coolly.

"I am." I nodded. "Who are you?"

"Hello, I am Yuan Wei's mother," the lady said. "My surname is Yao."

She nodded towards her assistant, who immediately handed over a business card. I took a look and saw that her name was Yao Guangming, chairman of a local medical equipment company.

"Chairwoman Yao," I smiled, "What can I do for you?"

"I'm here because of Xiao Wei's matter." She walked into the house, glanced at Tang Mingli, and then sat on the couch, saying, "Miss Yuan, I hope you can drop the case at the police station regarding my daughter. You can name your price."

She was polite, but there was a kind of inherent arrogance in her demeanor that was quite annoying.

Tang Mingli and I exchanged a glance and both smiled, "Chairwoman Yao, how much do you plan to pay for this?"

Yao Guangming’s lips curled in disdain as she pulled out a checkbook, "Five million. That's not a small amount, is it?"

"Five million?" I sneered, "My reputation is worth only five million? Chairwoman Yao, you must be joking."

Yao Guangming's face darkened, "Yuan Junyao, I advise you to take the offer and quit while you're ahead. Don't be greedy, or else..."

"Or else what?" I cut her off, "Chairwoman Yao, not everything can be bought with money. You may have defeated your rival with money, bought a man, bought love, but unfortunately, you can't buy other people's dignity."

Yao Guangming let out a scoff, "Rival? Who do you mean? Your mother? Sorry, I've never even considered her a rival. She's not worthy."

I squinted slightly. Even though I wasn't fond of my mother, hearing someone speak of her like this made me quite unhappy.

Yao Guangming continued, "Yuan Junyao, five million is already a high price. Frankly, this matter isn't even worth that much. The reason I'm willing to pay a high price is to make sure you don't bother us in the future. Don't be fooled by your father's current wealth and power. So what if he's doing well? Everything he has belongs to our Yao family. If you plan to come back and fight for the family property, I suggest you give up on that idea."

"Pfft." I couldn't help it; I burst out laughing.

Her face darkened, "What's so funny?"

I glanced at Tang Mingli, and he was also quietly smiling.

I said, "Director Yao, may I ask what the total assets of your company are?"

She responded coolly, "What does it have to do with you?"

"As far as I know, your company is publicly listed, with assets of five billion, right?" I said.

She sneered, "You seem to know quite a lot."

"Don't misunderstand, I'm not interested in your five billion at all," I said, leaning forward slightly. "Five billion is just a number to me. If I wanted to, I could surpass that in assets within ten days. As for the five million, ha, I'll offer five million so that no one in the Yao family ever bothers me again. How does that sound?"

Yao Guangming’s muscles twitched slightly below her eyes, and her gaze turned sharp as she looked at me. "Young lady, anyone can talk big. Don't act on impulse. That five million is enough for you to live comfortably for a long time."

I was about to reply when suddenly there was a 'ding'. Tang Mingli’s phone received a message. He looked at it and smiled. "Director Yao, have you been following your company's stock price today?"

Yao Guangming was taken aback. The company's stock price had always been stable, and the business had been handed over to Yuan Wen, so she hadn't been paying attention.

She looked at her assistant beside her, who immediately made a call. The assistant returned shortly, looking panicked, and whispered a few words into her ear.

Her expression changed drastically, her eyes narrowing slightly. She hadn’t expected that in just a few hours, her company's stock price had plunged. A large number of retail investors had sold their shares, someone had been buying them up, and even several major shareholders had sold their shares.

The mysterious buyer's acquisition of shares had already exceeded thirty percent.

She stood up, intending to leave, but Tang Mingli suddenly said, "Your company's major shareholder is right here. You’re leaving without saying a word?"

Yao Guangming froze mid-step, turned around, and stared at him in shock.

"It's you?" she exclaimed. "You’re the one buying up our company's shares? The plunge in our stock price was also your doing…"

Tang Mingli looked at me and said, "Jun Yao, your birthday is coming up in a few days. How about I give you these shares as a birthday present?"

Of course, I wouldn’t embarrass him in front of Yao Guangming, so I smiled and nodded, "Thank you very much."

Yao Guangming’s face twisted, her breathing became labored, and her chest rose and fell violently. It was obvious she was furious.

But coming from a prestigious family, she wouldn’t throw a tantrum like Old Lady Yuan. Instead, she slowly sat down, staring at us with a strange expression.

After a while, she let out a cold smile and said, "Yuan Junyao, you've found yourself a good man."

I shrugged and said, "You misunderstand. He’s just a good friend of mine, like a brother."

Tang Mingli put his arm around my shoulder and, smiling, said, "Jun Yao is just shy."

The corner of my mouth twitched as I tried to pull away, but couldn’t manage to break free.

Yao Guangming spoke seriously, "Alright, what will it take for you to leave my daughter alone?"

I replied calmly, "Your daughter did something cruel, and I’m merely letting her face the legal consequences. In the end, it’s just a few days in custody, not much of a loss."

Yao Guangming trembled with anger but maintained her dignified composure. She said, "Do you really want to go down this path with no way back?"

I sneered, "I don’t mind, but I'm not sure you’re ready to pay the price."

Yao Guangming took a deep breath, stood up, and said, "Fine. In that case, I'll take my leave."

She stepped out in her high heels, her footsteps echoing. When she reached the door, she turned back and said, "Leave some room in your actions, so we can meet again in the future. You should think this through."

I said, "I have no intention of meeting you again."

With a cold snort, Yao Guangming turned and left.

After she left, I quickly broke free from Tang Mingli’s embrace, my face blushing. "Um… thanks for your help, but there's no need to give me those shares, right?"

"I don’t take back what I say," Tang Mingli said seriously.

I was at a loss for words. After thinking for a moment, I said, "How about this—I’ll trade you an Elixir Pill for them. What do you think?"

Tang Mingli seemed at a loss for words too, and said, "Jun Yao, can you still not accept me?"

I avoided his gaze and stayed silent.

He sighed, "Alright, whatever you say."
