Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 60: The Omen Must Die (Part 6)

Su Gao's casual remark instantly muted Team Leader Qiao.

Domineering!

Fu Qian looked at Heroine Su with admiration.

With such an absolutely certain tone, it seemed she had probably met the legendary Blood Lion.

But daring to evaluate him like that also proved his own instincts right. Her strength had skyrocketed recently; she was probably not much weaker than the former Li Weixuan.

In the silence, the car had driven into the plaza in front of the mid-mountain villa, and a reception party was already waiting ahead.

What an inexplicably familiar scene!

Fu Qian recalled the Wen Family mansion, and the stone pillars he had kicked down one by one.

However, as an established Beyonder aristocratic family with profound foundations, the Huang family was far superior to upstarts like the Wen Family.

Both had front plazas, but it was completely unlike the Wen Family's entirely brand-new look.

Lush pines and cypresses, shaded by greenery; every brick and piece of wood seemed eager to carve the word "vicissitudes" onto their faces, emphasizing the fact that they were no nouveau riche.

The welcoming group in the plaza stood in neat formation, led by a relatively young man.

However, this person's complexion was noticeably poor. He looked haggard and sallow. Although dressed in a formal suit, it couldn't hide the fact that the clothes hung emptily on his frame.

Fu Qian recalled Team Leader Qiao's previous description. It seemed this was undeniably a genuine Huang family member.

But this appearance—long and thin, skinny as a rail—was exactly the same style as Huang Zhaoyan he encountered in The Furnace. They truly looked like members of the same clan.

"Huang Jianyuan, the current Patriarch's son."

Team Leader Qiao whispered a brief introduction as he was the first to step out of the car.

Over there, Huang Jianyuan had already brought his people forward, and the two immediately engaged in a round of empty pleasantries.

It was clear that the two sides had gotten along reasonably well in the past.

Fu Qian wasn't surprised by this and followed Su Gao out of the car.

Huang Jianyuan, who was exchanging pleasantries with Team Leader Qiao, instinctively paused upon seeing Su Gao stepping out. He turned to Team Leader Qiao.

"Team Leader Qiao, these two are...?"

"This is Executioner Su."

Team Leader Qiao first introduced Su Gao with a beaming smile. Huang Jianyuan's face immediately lit up with pleasant surprise, and he stepped forward spouting a bunch of "I've looked forward to meeting you for a long time" and "Your presence brings light to my humble dwelling."

Unfortunately, the latter had zero intention of engaging with him, and in the end, his expression grew somewhat stiff.

"And this is..."

Team Leader Qiao pointed at Fu Qian and suddenly paused.

How should he introduce this person?

Besides knowing his surname was Fu, he had absolutely no other information.

Expert Fu? He didn't even know what field he was an expert in.

"Fu Qian, Special Operations Consultant."

"Expert level."

Without waiting for Team Leader Qiao to speak, Fu Qian introduced himself directly, and then saw Huang Jianyuan's expression become even stiffer.

'Special Operations Consultant? Since when did the Night Watchers have such a position?'

A bunch of question marks floated in Huang Jianyuan's mind, but it wasn't convenient to ask too much, so he could only offer another round of "I've looked forward to meeting you."

"Please come in, you three. Unfortunately, my father is out and hasn't returned yet, so he couldn't come out to greet you."

After the pleasantries, Huang Jianyuan invited Fu Qian's group into the mid-mountain mansion.

The interior of the mansion was even more antique, radiating a low-key luxurious aura.

Soon, someone served fragrant tea, and at this moment, Huang Jianyuan seemed to finally remember something.

"Team Leader Qiao hasn't visited in a long time. Is there a matter you need to discuss this time?"

'Whatever the matter is, don't ask me.'

Team Leader Qiao involuntarily cast his gaze toward Fu Qian.

'You advocated coming here, so you should be the one to speak.'

Su Gao did the same, seemingly completely unwilling to speak.

Seeing their reactions, Huang Jianyuan was startled. His gaze swept over Fu Qian's face, unable to figure out exactly who this Expert Fu was.

Fu Qian instantly became the center of attention.

"We do indeed have a bit of business coming here this time."

Living up to their expectations, Fu Qian indicated he would not shy away from the responsibility and spoke with a smile.

"Today at noon, an innocent woman was murdered while eating. The scene was bloody. Eyewitnesses stated that the killer fled into the Huang Family estate after committing the crime, so we came to seek your assistance in the investigation."

'?'

The smile on Team Leader Qiao's face instantly dissipated.

'What the hell are you doing? We haven't even found the person, yet you've somehow locked onto the killer and claim they fled into the Huang Family estate?'

'Isn't your method of seeking assistance a bit too special?'

*Crash!*

"Nonsense! Who is spouting such baseless drivel?!"

Huang Jianyuan was also stunned for a moment before flying into a rage. He slammed his hand onto the fine table, shattering it and sending wood splinters flying.

"Our Huang Family will absolutely not tolerate such reckless slander! You claim we are harboring a murderer, but where is your proof?"

'Human Emperor Qi?'

Facing the enraged Huang Jianyuan, Fu Qian's attention was mostly focused on the faint yellow aura emanating from him, inexplicably afraid he might smell something.

"Jianyuan!"

Seeing Huang Jianyuan about to lose control, someone walked out from the back and stopped him.

The newcomer was clearly much older than him, just as haggard and sickly-looking as Huang Jianyuan, but most importantly, their facial features were practically cast from the same mold.

It seemed this was the Patriarch of the Huang Family who had been out, Huang Leji.

Worthy of being the current Patriarch, he was much stronger than his son. Judging by his aura, he was at least Tier 6 and above, probably even stronger than the killer he took down in The Furnace.

After stopping his son, Huang Leji stepped forward and looked at Su Gao with a serious expression.

"Executioner Su, I just learned that you tracked The Omen all the way to Xiyuan City. If you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. However, please believe that our Huang Family has absolutely no connection to The Omen."

Just moments ago, they didn't even recognize her, yet now they were perfectly clear about her whereabouts.

"We are also absolutely certain that no one involved in the murder at noon fled into the Huang Family estate. Please do not subjected us to unjust accusations."

From start to finish, the old Mr. Huang didn't even look at Fu Qian. It seemed he had already concluded that this guy was completely unreasonable and merely stared fixedly at Su Gao, hoping she would state her position.

"Proof."

Facing the pressure from the old Mr. Huang, Su Gao remained expressionless and calmly spat out a single word.

"If you claim to be innocent, I need your proof."

...

'We are being framed, yet we have to provide proof that we are being framed?'

Even old Mr. Huang nearly lost control of his mental state at this, and a dense yellow aura flashed across his body as well.

Su Gao didn't step back an inch. Her hand slowly moved to her waist.

In that instant, an overwhelming, bone-chilling murderous intent enveloped the entire room. It felt as if countless sharp blades were churning in the air, stinging the skin of everyone present.

*Thump, thump.* Several people in the reception room instantly collapsed.

Whether it was Huang Jianyuan or Huang Leji, the Human Emperor Qi on their bodies dimmed instantly, and the former almost fell over.

"How do you wish us to prove it?"

Huang Leji pressed his hand against the table, barely resisting the mountain-like murderous intent.

"Before noon tomorrow."

Su Gao didn't answer him. Instead, she turned around and left directly, leaving a room full of people feeling lost and bewildered.

As the murderous intent dissipated, with a *thump*, Huang Jianyuan finally collapsed to the floor.

'Beautiful!'

As the Chief Operations Consultant, Fu Qian was extremely satisfied with Su Gao's performance.

Although they hadn't communicated specifically beforehand, Su Gao clearly understood his intentions, perfectly achieving the effect of beating the grass to startle the snake.

Team Leader Qiao, who was already dumbfounded, opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing, lowering his head and hurrying after the two of them.
