Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 84: King of the White Tower (Part 6)

Having successfully intimidated the audience, Fu Qian left the arena in satisfaction.

"Would you like to go back and rest now?"

The priestess who came up to greet him asked cautiously.

I can go back now?

"Yes, your three rounds for tonight have ended. You just need to go back and wait for tomorrow's arrangements. Of course, you can also stay here to observe the others' matches before leaving."

That might be a bit tedious. The fighters in the ring were currently fighting in full swing. Not many cherished their time as much as he did, so it would probably be a while before they finished.

"Got it!"

Fu Qian looked up at the stand where Bai Jinting was, noticing that besides the King of the White Tower, there was an additional old man with red hair, a beard, and wearing an exquisite robe.

Although they were far apart, he could still feel a strange, oppressive sensation, as if a condensed thunderstorm was sitting there.

This was the legendary Demigod, Ibrahimovic?

This was Fu Qian's first time seeing someone of this level.

Sure enough, just like the data he found said, high-level Transcendence represented a fundamental change in life form. The feeling this guy gave him was completely different from any of his past opponents.

From the looks of it, this person was the biggest threat to his current mission.

At this distance, in fact, if it wasn't for this guy, he could even consider charging straight up there.

But there was no rush. After today's matches, he had undoubtedly entered his target's line of sight. He could slowly look for opportunities later.

...

Considering today's expenditure, resting wasn't necessary. Just as Fu Qian was standing by the window looking out, a knock came from the door.

Fu Qian opened the door, only to find his defeated opponent standing outside, her figure alluring.

A snow-white bathrobe was loosely tied, her not-yet-fully-dried blonde hair draped on both sides. Veil's complexion had already recovered.

"May I come in?"

Her voice carried a trace of weak gentleness.

"You may!"

Fu Qian nodded, opening the door and gesturing for her to enter.

Knocking on his door in a bathrobe; Veil's behavior was completely incongruous compared to her previous performance.

The probability of her developing Stockholm Syndrome after losing a fight was not high, so Fu Qian was a little curious as to why she had come.

Walking into the room with light steps, Veil found a seat and sat down. She casually flicked the hem of her bathrobe, crossing her bare legs.

"You... fought very well today!"

"Mhm."

"...I tried my absolute best, yet I couldn't even touch the corner of your clothes."

"Mhm."

"Growing up, I've never experienced such a feeling of powerlessness..."

"Mhm."

Seeing Fu Qian perfunctorily responding with a blank expression, Veil could no longer maintain the smile on her face and gritted her teeth.

"...Actually, I'm... having a little trouble sleeping."

"Hm?"

Fu Qian frowned slightly.

"Don't tell me you want to sleep with me?"

"Can... can I?"

Veil's cheeks flushed rosy red, staring straight at Fu Qian.

"You can, but my fees are very expensive."

...

Veil's expression instantly froze, turning red and then white. After a long silence:

"I actually have one more thing I wanted to ask of you..."

"You not only want to sleep with me, but you also want me to do something for you. Isn't bringing up two requests at once a bit too much?"

Fu Qian looked at her with a frown.

"N-no... that's not what I mean..."

Veil's voice had become somewhat stammering.

"Then what do you mean?"

Veil gritted her teeth. Realizing her seduction technique was ineffective, she immediately covered her collarline.

"If possible, I hope you can help me find someone."

So she did come over with a specific purpose.

Fu Qian nodded.

"Who?"

"My little sister, she's somewhere in the archipelago."

"Then why don't you go find her yourself?"

"I've already been eliminated, so now I can only stay in this place."

Veil wore a bitter smile.

"Once the competition ends, I will have to leave."

"And you, as a victor of the first day, can already enter the Inner Island to move about."

Veil let out a long sigh, her expression quite resentful.

You mean to blame me? If your skills are inferior, you have to accept it.

"You came just to find her?"

"Yes."

Veil nodded.

"We... had a bit of a conflict, and not long ago she left home alone."

"I investigated through various channels and confirmed that she most likely came here."

"Considering the situation here, I'm somewhat worried, so I want to find her as quickly as possible."

Worrying was normal.

Fu Qian recalled the crazed audience in the stands and expressed great understanding toward Veil's emotions.

In a sense, she was quite unlucky.

She clearly had formidable strength, and as long as she won one more match, she could smoothly enter the Inner Island to find her sister. But then she ran into him.

As expected, under-the-table manipulation kills.

However, he had gained quite a lot today, and as a sparring partner, she deserved some credit.

As a reasonable person, if he could help out in passing, it wouldn't be a problem.

Fu Qian nodded.

"I can keep an eye out."

"That's wonderful!"

Veil's spirits lifted. She reached up, took a pendant off her neck, and handed it over.

"I'm not sure if she'll use her real name, but she looks somewhat like me.

"If you see her, please pass this to her. Tell her that I and the family miss her very much and hope she'll come back soon."

"And if I don't find her? How should I return this to you?"

Fu Qian took the pendant, which still carried her body heat.

"I'll be here for the next couple of days..."

Veil let out a faint sigh.

"If you find that I'm not here by then, there's no need."

...

Not long after Veil left, the knock sounded again.

Fu Qian opened the door. This time, there was a man with a face full of smiles outside.

"Your performance today... was truly impressive."

This compliment seemed familiar!

Fu Qian frowned, looking at him warily.

If you also hit me with "I'm having trouble sleeping," then don't blame me for hacking you down.

"I am Ji Ping. Forgive me for presumptuously disturbing your rest."

The man named Ji Ping first apologized in a refined manner.

"I came here mainly to deliver an invitation."

As he spoke, he handed over an envelope.

"The Rebirth Club welcomes your arrival at any time!"

Fu Qian reached out to take it, noticing that as the man's hand flipped, a grayish-white eyeball in the palm of his hand was rolling around.

Thinking about the exclusive technology of this place, it was highly likely taken from some special creature.

Ji Ping did not linger. He dropped off the item and quickly left.

Fu Qian opened the envelope in his hand and poured out a snake-shaped badge. It looked like it was made of some special material, very heavy, and even had a warm touch to it.

It seemed his highlight performance today had been quite effective; in the blink of an eye, his doorway was as bustling as a marketplace.

He didn't know what kind of background this Rebirth Club had, but since they took the initiative to show goodwill, there was no reason not to make use of it. He could try to feel out some information through them and prepare for his next steps.

Of course, the most ideal situation would be a third person knocking on the door in a bit, and Bai Jinting delivering himself right to his doorstep.
