Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 85: King of the White Tower (Part 7)

Facts proved that overly beautiful wishes are impractical.

Although there was indeed a third person who came knocking the next morning, it was not his target.

"Hello, Mr. Fu."

The priestess who had guided him during the competition was neatly dressed, bowing deeply at the door.

"I am your guide for today. If you have any thoughts of touring the island, I can accompany you the entire way."

Not easy!

Fu Qian looked at the priestess's face, which had returned to its goddess-like demeanor.

Yesterday toward the end, she was clearly scared to death. Yet after a night of mental preparation, she actually recovered.

The competition was still at night. During the day, he indeed had plenty of time to stroll around this legendary land of depravity.

"Sure, I'll trouble you then."

Fu Qian nodded in agreement.

Most of the time, Fu Qian was an easygoing person; for example, he didn't even ask for her name.

Just as Veil had said, after winning the first day's matches, all areas were open to him. With the priestess leading the way, it was a completely unhindered journey.

"There are a total of seven islands here. The place we are at now is considered the periphery; it's mainly infrastructure."

The priestess walked in front, taking on the role of a tour guide.

Along the way, they had already seen several such pairs.

"Indeed foundational."

Fu Qian looked at several women striking seductive poses in front of a certain signboard, deeply agreeing.

In just these few seconds, several flirtatious glances flew over. One of them even spread the wings on her back upward.

Paired with a slender, pale neck, she looked just like a large goose ready to strike.

"The White Tower where yesterday's matches were held is located on the central island. All six of the other islands have tunnels leading there."

The priestess pretended not to notice what Fu Qian was looking at, introducing things on her own from the front.

"There are mainly two core buildings up there. Besides the White Tower, there is also the Laboratory, which is equally a core of the island."

She pointed to the building next to the towering White Tower.

"That's it. I believe this is also the reason many people come to the archipelago."

The Grafting Laboratory?

In this world, that could be considered a top-tier achievement of a skewed technology tree!

Following the direction she pointed, Fu Qian looked carefully.

Compared to the White Tower, this building was much more low-key. It was overall ring-shaped, occupying the southeast corner of the island, and its area wasn't small either.

"But it seems there are also many people who didn't do that?"

Fu Qian pointed at her body.

From his observations yesterday, at the very least, this woman hadn't added any extra parts to her body.

"Everyone has different goals. My reason for working here is very simple."

The priestess smiled, not minding the topic shifting to herself.

"The White Tower Company simply pays too much!"

"Working for just a few short days is equivalent to my income for an entire year, and I even get to stay in the legendary Ring Archipelago for a while in passing."

"Actually, many people are in the same situation as me, but not everyone can take the money away."

As she spoke, she pointed her finger toward the Laboratory.

Understood.

Fu Qian nodded knowingly.

The Grafting Laboratory was right next door, and one could even obtain various supernatural abilities through it. This was indeed a massive temptation for ordinary people.

Earn money in the archipelago, spend it in the archipelago; don't even think about bringing a cent home.

"Besides the central island, we can move around anywhere else. Where would you like to go first?"

Unfortunately, what I'm most interested in is the executive office on the central island.

Fu Qian thought for a moment and fished out the badge from yesterday out of his pocket.

"Do you know where to find them?"

This...

Seeing the item in Fu Qian's hand, the priestess's face instantly went pale. After cautiously confirming it:

"This is the emblem of the Rebirth Club. It's on Island Five, not too far from here."

She lowered her head and spoke quickly and quietly.

"How do you have this? As far as I know, this kind of emblem is very rare on the island; there aren't many of them."

"Someone gave it to me. But why do you look like you're looking at something filthy?"

"The Rebirth Club is quite famous here. Their style..."

The priestess deliberated over her words.

"...is rather uninhibited. Do you really want to go straight there?"

Uh-huh.

Fu Qian nodded, seeing her troubled expression.

"Forget it, just point out the location to me, and I'll go over by myself."

He wouldn't make things difficult for her.

Looking as if she had received a grand pardon, the priestess pointed out a direction to Fu Qian and then ran off with an apologetic face.

It was obvious that the Rebirth Club had a poor reputation here.

But as the saying goes, bad publicity is still publicity. To be able to trigger such an instinctive repulsive reaction, this club must have something extraordinary about it.

Following the directions, Fu Qian quickly found the destination of this trip.

In front of a heavy red wooden door, a burly man stood with his three arms crossed.

Flashing the badge in his hand, the burly man examined it carefully, then pushed open the wooden door and let Fu Qian in.

Clang!

Almost the moment Fu Qian walked in, the door was slammed shut behind him.

This is a club?

Fu Qian frowned as he looked at the scene before him.

It looked like this place was originally supposed to be a small bar.

Right now, however, there was neither decadent music nor a pool of wine and forest of meat.

Instead, there were mummified corpses scattered everywhere, sitting or lying down in various postures, seemingly still continuing the actions they were doing when they were alive.

And the most eye-catching among them was undoubtedly a centaur in front of the counter.

That's right, the legendary creature with two arms and four legs.

Its body wasn't particularly tall. Its back was draped with a tattered strip of cloth; although it was riddled with holes, one could still see its former magnificence.

All of this was shrouded in an omnipresent layer of black, white, and gray.

What a picture of a hundred years of solitude!

Fu Qian bypassed the centaur specimen, walked up to the counter, found a seat, and sat down, simultaneously reaching out to touch the tabletop.

The layer of black, white, and gray on the table's surface was actually smeared directly onto his fingers, and his skin subsequently turned a ghastly pale.

In less than ten seconds, his entire body was dyed with that grayish-white color. His skin became withered and emaciated like a mummy's, as if a hundred years of vicissitudes had passed in the blink of an eye.

Fu Qian, however, thought nothing of it. He leaned back in his chair and carefully observed the centaur next to him.

Proportionally speaking, aren't these legs a bit long?

Just as he was looking intently, the spear originally raised in the centaur's right hand silently fell.

Clang!

Fu Qian didn't even raise his head. He stretched the index and middle fingers of his left hand upward, firmly catching the sharp tip of the spear.

In the past, he would have either slapped such a sneak attack away with one palm or picked a direction to dodge.

But as a fighter who had just completed his special training yesterday, he tried the "Consonance Finger" which looked much more impressive.

Facts proved that the effect was truly not bad.

A greater force came from the spear; the centaur seemed to want to pull its weapon back.

Unfortunately, Fu Qian's two fingers were like iron pincers; no matter how hard it tried, they wouldn't budge an inch.

Two seconds later, Fu Qian twisted his wrist.

Even under such a disadvantageous leverage, the spear in the centaur's hand was forcefully yanked out, and the centaur itself staggered backward several steps.

"Mmph!"

A woman's groan could be heard.
