Horror Camgirl - Ch. 73: The Sinister Land Temple
He felt a bit embarrassed, scratching his head, and said, "Right now, I can only build some earthen walls and manipulate earth blocks to hit people. Once I break through to Level 2, I’ll be able to move through the soil, like passing through walls or entering the ground."
Wow, this guy is impressive! A Level 2 Earth Ability User could be a master at assassination, theft, and bank robbery!
But wait, is he foolish? Modern buildings have steel reinforcements; an Earth Ability User can’t pass through steel, and they can only penetrate concrete walls after reaching Level 3.
So, does that make Earth abilities seem kind of useless?
Heh, outsiders really don’t understand anything. There are no useless abilities, only idiots who don’t know how to use them.
We kept chatting until deep into the night. I checked the online viewers; the Live Stream content was so boring, yet the numbers were steadily increasing, reaching eight million viewers. As the hours passed, after midnight, the numbers surpassed ten million.
A Live Stream with ten million viewers has never happened in Black Rock TV's history.
However, we need some exciting content, or else the audience might tear down the Live Stream Room.
At that moment, Huang Ruixi spoke up: "I drank too much water earlier; I’m going out to the restroom."
The audience immediately got excited.
In horror movies, that’s a death wish.
He’s an Earth Ability User; he’s not like you regular people!
"Be careful," I advised, and he nodded before stepping out the door.
Time passed second by second. A full fifteen minutes went by, and Huang Ruixi still hadn’t returned.
Hey, host, wasn't Huang Ruixi in on this with you?
Yes, host, this won't do. If there are no monsters or devils, we won’t give any tips.
I felt a bit uneasy. Even though we had all signed a contract taking responsibility for our own lives, I had brought him out here. If something really happened to him, I would feel guilty.
"Ming Li, let’s go look for him," I suggested.
Tang Mingli and I went outside to search, while Tang Xin and the others stayed behind. The village streets were muddy, and we followed a trail of footprints leading forward, but we were puzzled: "Wasn’t he just going to the restroom? Why would he come deeper into the village?"
The footprints led us to the entrance of a Land Temple at the back of the village, suddenly disappearing.
This Land Temple was built of rough stones, containing a few stone statues in its shrine.
In the rural areas of Shan City, every village has a Land Temple where the statues are all unearthed when plowing. Rural people are simple and believe this is the Land God.
"Strange," Tang Mingli remarked, pointing to the ground. "It seems Huang Ruixi wanted to leave after arriving here, which is why there are backward footprints. They’re a bit chaotic, indicating he was startled and panicking, but he only took one step forward before the footprints disappeared."
I exclaimed, "Could it be that he was captured by something? That it hung him up so he left no footprints?"
"That's very possible," he nodded.
But who could have captured him? He’s a Level 1 Ability User!
We looked up at the Land Temple, which was dimly lit, and could vaguely see a statue in the center, wrapped in red silk.
I was surprised, saying, "No one has come here in ten years, so how does the red silk look so new?"
"The Land Temple has some mysteries," Tang Mingli said solemnly. "You wait outside; I’ll go take a look inside."
I grabbed his hand and said, "Let’s go together."
He turned back to look at me, grasping my hand in return: "Okay, let’s go together."
Wow, is the relationship between the host and the Tyrant going to deepen? The way the Tyrant looks at the host is so affectionate.
If only the Tyrant would look at me like that, I’d tip a hundred crowns.
Wait up, rich lady! I’m way better looking than the Tyrant; can’t I get in on this?
Get lost! You can’t compare to my Tyrant!
You guys can take the Tyrant; just leave the host to me.
I tightly held Tang Mingli’s hand as we entered the Land Temple together.
A gust of chilly wind swept by, causing me to shiver as I felt a chill run down my spine.
The red silk draped over the statue fluttered in the wind, and for some reason, I felt like the statue smiled.
Hey, did you see that? The statue smiled.
Screenshot successful; it really smiled!
Could this statue be the culprit behind the villagers' mysterious deaths?
I took out my Wolf-Eye flashlight and aimed it at the statue. Suddenly, a drop of blood splattered on the statue's face. I raised the flashlight and was horrified to see Huang Ruixi hanging upside down from the statue, his face covered in blood.
Oh my God, Huang Ruixi is dead! He’s an Ability User, and he died like this!
No, I liked him a lot!
Tang Mingli's expression darkened as he tried to approach to get him down, but I reached out to stop him.
He looked at me in surprise. I said calmly, "He’s not dead yet."
"If he’s not dead, we still need to get him down."
"Let him hang a little longer," I replied. "The blood flow to his brain will help him regain consciousness."
After a pause, I added, "Go outside and dig up the foulest dirt you can find; if we shove it in his mouth, he’ll wake up."
Tang Mingli, clever as he is, immediately understood, grinning slightly: "Good idea. I just saw a pile of beast droppings at the village entrance. That would be even more effective."
After saying that, we turned to head outside. Huang Ruixi immediately shouted, "Wait! Don’t go!"
We ignored him, and as we reached the door, I raised my voice, "Everyone come out."
Tang Xin and the others emerged from the nearby bushes. Xia Qingyu laughed a little and said, "Host, we were just playing a joke on you."
I maintained a serious face and said, "That’s not funny at all."
Damn. I was almost scared to death just now; I almost called the police.
It really isn’t funny at all.
Not funny at all!
"Do you know how dangerous this is?" Tang Mingli's voice was cold. Xia Qingyu twitched her mouth and said, "Don’t be so sensitive; we just wanted to lighten the mood."
"Whose idea was this?" I asked coldly.
Tang Xin bit her lip and said, "It was my idea; it has nothing to do with them. You can scold me."
"Wait." Xia Qingyu blocked her, glaring at me and saying, "What right do you have to scold us?"
I frowned slightly as Xia Qingyu continued, "We’re here to participate in her Live Stream; it’s a favor to her. With us here, her viewer count can increase several times. She should be thanking us instead."
Tang Xin gently tugged at her sleeve, saying, "Qingyu, don’t say anymore."
Xia Qingyu shrugged her off and said, "I’ve wanted to say this for a while. To make us sign a life-and-death agreement makes it sound like we’re a burden. We are distinguished Martial Artists and Ability Users; how could we be a burden?"
Is this boy out of her mind? Do you know how many people want to be part of this Live Stream? You’re lucky to be included; don’t act so cocky.
Hmph, the host could have picked anyone; it would have been better to let me in. Though I’m just an ordinary person, I can follow orders without going against you.
Heh, just a mid-level Bright Strength Martial Artist; I could knock you down with one punch. How dare you talk to my goddess like that?
A cold glimmer appeared in Tang Mingli’s eyes, but I raised my hand to stop him, looking Xia Qingyu up and down.
"Tang Xin, was today’s idea his?" I asked.
Tang Xin hesitated and glanced at Xia Qingyu, hesitating to speak. I said, "It seems so. If I don’t teach you a lesson today, you won’t know who’s in charge."
After saying that, I suddenly struck out, landing a heavy punch on his chest. He was caught off guard, letting out a muffled grunt as he staggered back several steps.
The host hitting someone out of nowhere doesn’t seem right?
I also thought it wasn’t right. The host didn’t seem like this kind of person.
What do you know? The host is a cultivator and very powerful. Being humiliated like that in person is about honor and dignity; they have to retaliate.
Wait. The host must have her reasons for acting this way.
"Do you dare hit me?" Xia Qingyu roared. I felt a flash of light in my eyes, suddenly rushing to his front, employing basic boxing techniques while engaging him in a fight. Punch after punch echoed as I struck her, making her bones crack.
"Stop fighting!" Tang Xin cried out, wanting to rush up and intervene, but the usually silent Qin Nancheng pressed down on her shoulder, saying, "Watch carefully."
"I’m going to fight you to the end!" Xia Qingyu yelled, his eyes bloodshot as he lunged at me. I ducked down, landing a solid punch to his Dantian.
Is this how the host acts? For a Martial Artist, the Dantian is the most crucial; destroying it is like taking his life—what’s the point?
Host! I’m Xia Qingyu's older brother. If you dare to harm him, the Xia family will surely seek revenge!
He brought this upon herself. If you dare to lay a hand on the host, the Yan family will be your enemies.
I naturally didn’t see the verbal battle in the Live Stream. This punch hit his Dantian hard; he let out a cry, and Tang Xin's face turned pale as she clenched her fists, her shoulders trembling slightly.
Xia Qingyu opened his mouth, expelling a puff of black gas, and then he slumped to the ground.
I reached out to support him, helping him sit down. His face was pale, as if all his strength had been drained away.
Tang Xin asked tremulously, "Did you... did you cripple his abilities?"
I ignored her, looking down at Xia Qingyu, and asked, "How do you feel?"
Xia Qingyu rubbed his painfully throbbing head and, looking bewildered, asked, "What happened?"
Tang Xin curiously inquired, "Do you not remember what just happened?"
"What just happened?" He looked around. "Where is this? How did I get here? I remember seeing a lot of animal corpses under a tree, but I can’t recall anything else."
