Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 108: The Hunter Desires Blood (Part 8)

What an unchivalrous sneak attack!

The moment he opened the door, Fu Qian felt a slight shock to his sanity.

Behind the door was a massive underground space, divided into different sections by various corridors.

Above, there was a light approximately every ten meters, stretching far into the distance.

However, a dense red mist was currently permeating this immense space.

This mist carried an indescribable stench. Its intensity and foulness were comparable to a skunk committing suicide by swallowing feces.

Since becoming a Beyonder, Fu Qian's sense of smell had also received an unprecedented enhancement, making him suffer heavily in an instant.

Immediately holding his breath, Fu Qian looked around and found that beneath the red mist, there were streaks of yellowish-white vein-like things.

Whether underfoot or on the walls, everything was covered in these bizarre things. Some meandered in strands, while others knotted and coiled, stretching off into the distance.

At first glance, it looked as if the building itself had come alive.

This is quite wicked! Regardless, this doesn't look like what a Nightwatcher Base should be like.

Is the mist emanating from the walls?

Fu Qian frowned.

He could clearly see a row of completely identical doors on one side of the corridor; inside should be individual, independent rooms.

Recalling what the girl upstairs had said, it seemed something was sealed away inside.

As for these veins...

Fu Qian narrowed his eyes, carefully observing their direction. He discovered that their source seemed to be an adjacent corridor.

Go take a look?

All the way down here, apart from the three people he took down upstairs, he hadn't encountered any other guards.

If he just left like this, it seemed somewhat unjustifiable. The effect of beating the grass to scare the snake might not be good enough.

Fu Qian quickly found an excuse to satisfy his curiosity openly and honestly.

Approaching stealthily, Fu Qian followed the direction of the veins, heading all the way to the other corridor.

These things truly seemed to possess living characteristics. Fu Qian looked down at his feet.

Every step he took seemed to trigger a tremor within them.

Soon, Fu Qian arrived at the corner. Concealing his aura to the maximum, he quietly peeked his head out.

WTF?

Down the corridor, a pair of eyes was shockingly looking right back at him.

Fu Qian took a deep breath, recognizing the owner of those eyes.

Yuan Shan!

Instead of being outside catching people, why are you holed up down here?

Fu Qian had planned for many possibilities, but bumping straight into this boss was something he hadn't anticipated.

Yuan Shan was currently standing in the middle of the corridor, right in front of one of the room doors.

However, the seemingly sturdy metal door now had a gaping hole in it.

Shockingly thick veins extended from the breach, crawling along the walls and floor, recklessly sprawling in all directions.

Yet, the vast majority of them were tightly wrapped within a giant black cocoon, struggling ceaselessly inside.

The giant cocoon was stretched into exaggerated shapes, but a tear never formed.

Yuan Shan is trying to find a way to seal this thing inside?

Fu Qian instantly understood what this Demigod was doing.

No wonder she didn't personally go out to hunt the suspect down; it seems she was here handling this anomaly.

Unfortunately, looking at the surroundings, this could only be a temporary delay.

Of course, now was not the time to consider this. Yuan Shan was still locked in a deep gaze with him.

Seeing this Demigod staring intently at him.

Fu Qian instantly realized how he had been discovered.

The tremors of the veins underfoot as he walked had been perceived by her.

Run!

Fu Qian spun around and sprinted out almost without hesitation.

Running straight into Yuan Shan—this level of beating the grass to scare the snake was definitely sufficient.

Not just her. From his fleeting glance just now, there were at least three other people standing beside Yuan Shan.

The strength of every single one of them felt no lower than the Fourth Tier.

If they were the guards here, this lineup was way too luxurious!

No wonder there were no guards outside; they simply weren't needed!

Fu Qian pushed his speed to the max, dashing back the way he came.

The moment he burst out from underground, he noticed the lights flashing outside and people were already rushing over continuously.

Sure enough, she had remotely notified her subordinates to block him.

Fu Qian was just about to charge straight out when suddenly his leg tightened. His calves had been bound by two black ribbon-like things.

"Since you're already here, why the rush to leave?"

Yuan Shan's soft, charming voice rang out as she sauntered gracefully from the side, looking at Fu Qian with a smile.

This woman had actually gotten ahead of him!

Fu Qian looked at Yuan Shan. Indeed, every Demigod had their own extraordinary traits.

"Your actions are truly incomprehensible."

Yuan Shan shook her head while sizing Fu Qian up.

"You've served the Night Watchers for many years, always diligent in your guarding duties. Yet recently, you triggered the restrictions without authorization, stole materials, and left an absolute mess down below."

"And now you've returned."

"What is your actual goal?"

So I actually found the right place!

Henrik stole the Blood of Thorns from here, and that's why those stinking veins appeared?

Fu Qian quickly extracted bits of information from Yuan Shan's words.

"Not going to say anything?"

Seeing that Fu Qian remained silent, Yuan Shan shook her head and beckoned with her right hand.

"No rush, we can take our time and chat."

As she lightly waved her fingers, black ribbons continuously materialized, interweaving into a dense net that draped down over Fu Qian.

Trying to trap me in a cocoon like the one just now?

Looking at the descending giant black net, Fu Qian shook his head.

Sanity Value minus 1.

Amidst Yuan Shan's suddenly solemn gaze, Mythic Form was activated.

Having a Demigod as a sparring partner, this opportunity was nothing short of rare.

Fu Qian glanced at his palms, perceiving the changes in his body.

The next moment, he leaned his body back and stretched out his arms.

What was that move called again?

A bloom of black and red. Innumerable vine-like tentacles shot out violently from Fu Qian's limbs and torso.

Under the buff of the Mythic Form, each tentacle carried strength comparable to his previous Biochemical Demon Arm, indiscriminately blasting everything around him.

Tendril Barrage Devastator!!

Blotting out the sky and covering the sun.

"Dodge!"

Under this terrifying strike, Yuan Shan no longer retained her prior composure.

The sky-filling black ribbons tightened abruptly, attempting to stop the omnipresent tentacles.

However, the seemingly indestructible ribbons barely held on for a second before violently breaking apart.

Boom!

Almost instantaneously, the unhindered tentacles blasted the entire hall to pieces. Countless debris and broken glass rained down from above.

The black cocoon was forcefully shattered, and even someone as strong as Yuan Shan felt her breath stagnate.

Fortunately, under Yuan Shan's block, the others had managed to retreat in time, resulting in no casualties.

Amidst the utter chaos, one tentacle grabbed onto a massive tree outside, then sharply contracted.

Propelled by this force, Fu Qian's body shot forward, tearing through the crowd and sprinting away without looking back.

"Don't chase him!"

Yuan Shan, having caught her breath, shook her head and reached out to stop the others.

"He's not Henrik! Beware of luring the tiger out of the mountain."
