Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 107: The Hunter Desires Blood (Part 7)

As expected, they're working overtime!

Fu Qian concealed his aura, silently observing the front.

Before him was impressively the Night Watchers' Nightwatcher Base.

After parting ways with Wen Li, he didn't return to his bookstore but came here again.

The sky was already dark, yet the Nightwatcher Base was still brightly lit.

People could be seen constantly entering and exiting, looking even more tense than during the day.

This meant the incident at the banquet had already reached here, causing this massive organization to be fully mobilized.

Fu Qian rubbed his face with his hands, his facial muscles rapidly adjusting.

Of course, he wasn't here to watch the show.

The more the Night Watchers worked overtime, the closer he got to failing his mission.

Passively waiting had never been his style; taking the initiative to attack was the right way.

And for this, he already had a plan.

As the Art of War says, fish in troubled waters.

When the environment is unfavorable, muddy the waters.

That's right, he was going to explore the Material Vault again.

Under the identity of Henrik.

In the current situation, compared to the Night Watchers, the information he possessed was still too little, keeping him on the highly disadvantaged side.

The opponent was a formidable, fully-staffed, and clearly-divided massive machine.

To seize the initiative, merely trailing behind the opponent wouldn't work; he needed to create some information points that others didn't know about to build an advantage.

For example, "Henrik re-enters the Nightwatcher Base, seemingly looking for something."

This piece of information would be enough to make many people scratch their heads.

Including Henrik himself.

By then, he alone would know the truth of the matter.

After a few minutes of adjustment, Fu Qian's facial features changed once again.

Naturally, he didn't transform into Henrik's appearance.

From the encounter at the banquet, Henrik obviously possessed the ability to alter his appearance.

And as a wanted man, if he wanted to re-enter the Nightwatcher Base, anyone with half a brain would know he'd definitely wear a disguise. Showing up with his actual face would arouse suspicion instead.

As for whose face to use, Fu Qian had already solved this problem.

During his stakeout just now, he had locked onto a Night Watcher heading out.

This brother wasn't very strong, roughly at the Eighth Tier, which perfectly matched his own state after wearing the mask.

Moreover, this person clearly belonged to the lowest echelon of the Night Watchers.

Logically speaking, as a grass-roots staff member, he would definitely be running errands late into the night today, so there was no worry of him returning soon.

Having adjusted his features according to that Night Watcher's face, Fu Qian decisively got up and walked towards the Nightwatcher Base.

The guards at the entrance only glanced at the ID in Fu Qian's hand before letting him in.

Just as expected! The checks to enter the Nightwatcher Base weren't strict.

This was actually easy to understand. Setting aside the fact that a large number of personnel were currently coming and going, a place like the Nightwatcher Base wasn't exactly somewhere criminals actively sought to break into.

As for the ID in his hand, it was naturally taken from his imitation target.

As a dignified Fourth Tier Beyonder, if he got caught doing this, he might as well quit the business.

Entering the Nightwatcher Base, Fu Qian strode forward with perfect composure.

When he came over in the afternoon, he had roughly observed the layout of the Nightwatcher Base.

Combined with his recent observation period, Fu Qian had broadly categorized a few areas and locked onto several suspicious locations.

In his view, these few spots could all potentially be where the material Warehouse was located. However, due to limited information, he couldn't make further judgments.

There was no need for further judgment anyway!

He was just here to beat the grass and scare the snake, not to actually steal anything.

If he went too deep, it would be extremely awkward if he got trapped inside.

By then, I'm afraid Transcendence would be his only option left.

Following his planned route, Fu Qian bypassed the area where he was previously detained, going all the way to the other side of the black spire.

Compared to the opposite side, this area was much more deserted.

Fu Qian's gaze swept around, and he soon found an entrance.

Inside the entrance was a spacious hall, where a girl in a Night Watchers uniform was sitting.

Behind the hall was a corridor, at the end of which was a pitch-black heavy door with two guards standing in front of it.

I must say, this layout looks very legit; if it's not the material Warehouse, it must be somewhere important.

As far as he was concerned, as long as he could cause some trouble, it was fine.

Fu Qian stepped through the door without hesitation.

The girl noticed him immediately, her vigilant eyes tracking him all the way until he approached.

"Are you heading down?"

Fu Qian flashed his ID. Unexpectedly, the girl's gaze didn't relax; instead, she became even more wary.

"That's right."

"Entering the Sealed Zone below the Middle Tier requires a special permit. Where is your permit?"

The young girl sized Fu Qian up and down for a long time.

Not the Warehouse?

Sealed Zone, no entry below Middle Tier.

Is there something extraordinary down there?

Fu Qian thought to himself, though his expression remained perfectly natural.

"My permit, huh... I forgot where I put it. Let me look for it."

Fu Qian said casually, then inconspicuously patted his body a few times.

Naturally, he had no permit. He didn't expect to fool her like this anyway. His goal was to act suspiciously and lure those two guards over.

His actions undoubtedly made the girl even more alert. She discreetly signaled with her hand under the table.

The two guards in the distance had already been watching this side. Upon receiving the signal, they quickly approached.

Talk about being cooperative!

Fu Qian silently gave the girl a thumbs-up.

"No entry without a permit. Register your information and then go back."

The guards weren't as polite as the young girl. They sandwiched Fu Qian left and right, speaking in a cold tone.

"Don't rush, of course I have a permit. Ah, found it!"

Before the guard could finish, Fu Qian cried out and pulled his hand out of his pocket.

For a moment, the eyes of all three people focused on his hand.

However, the next moment, Fu Qian opened his palm, and it was completely empty.

Her pupils abruptly contracted, and the girl subconsciously reached for the alarm.

Yet, halfway through her motion, an invisible, massive force struck her chest.

A muffled sound of flesh being hit rang out. The intense impact sent her flying several meters, and she passed out cleanly and swiftly.

At the same time, Fu Qian's arms abruptly extended, and his two fists instantly planted themselves on the guards' faces.

Thump! Thump!

A furious burst of power directly blasted the two men away, rendering them unconscious.

Compared to the girl, these two were significantly stronger, both roughly at Tier 6.

However, at such a close distance, facing Fu Qian's sneak attack, they had no power to retaliate.

Taking down three people within a second, Fu Qian wasted no time and walked straight to the heavy door at the end of the corridor.

The black heavy door was made of metal and very heavy, but it wasn't locked.

Fu Qian slowly pushed the door open. Inside was a downward spiral staircase, extending all the way deep underground. It looked ancient.

Amidst the creaking sounds, Fu Qian observed his surroundings as he went downstairs. He soon found another metal door at the bottom.

There wasn't even a guard in front of this door.

Fu Qian didn't stand on ceremony either. He placed his hand on it and slowly pushed it open, and the view before him suddenly widened.

What is this smell?

It stinks!
