Eldritch Horror Theatre - Ch. 121: The Hunter Thirsts for Blood (21)

As expected, a Demigod is truly on another level!

Watching the flesh and blood that had already crumbled into mush yet continued to struggle and squirm, Fu Qian sighed in awe.

This was the first time he had seen a Beyonder of this caliber die right in front of him.

Fu Qian somewhat understood why places like the Sealed Zone existed. Leaving such malevolent and bizarre things scattered outside was simply too dangerous.

However, the situation before him finally verified his guess.

Even though Henrik had been pulverized, there was still no sign of anything resembling the Blood of Thorns. It seemed he was right to hold back from dealing a killing blow back then.

Poker Face and the others were clearly well-trained; they immediately directed people to step up and secure Henrik's mutilated corpse.

Yuan Shan looked up in the direction Henrik had charged, remaining silent for a long time, her expression unprecedentedly solemn.

The Chen Mingda brothers were standing right there.

Following her gaze, Fu Qian noticed Chen Mingda's eyes darting back and forth between him and Yuan Shan, his expression looking rather strange.

"Chief Yuan, if there are no further issues, I will take my people and head back first."

Chen Xing stepped forward and coughed, his face showing the relief of having avenged a great grudge.

Yet the latter did not reply, continuing to stare coldly at the two Chen brothers.

*You find it suspicious too? Henrik's final outburst was indeed strange.*

"Brother Mingda, are you alright?" Fu Qian walked straight up and greeted Chen Mingda.

"Brother Fang, I didn't expect you to rush over here as well," Chen Mingda forced a smile.

"After receiving the message, Chief Yuan and I hurried over immediately," Fu Qian deliberately phrased his words to be easily misunderstood. "I'm very glad to see you here."

"What do you mean?" Chen Mingda frowned, staring at Fu Qian in confusion.

However, the answer he received was a long whip lashing out, striking him right across the face.

"What are you doing?!" Chen Mingda paled in shock. Unable to dodge, he took the strike squarely on the face, leaving a long, red welt.

"Nothing much." Fu Qian took another step forward and lashed out with the whip again.

"How dare you!" Witnessing this, Chen Xing couldn't help but let out a furious roar.

Just as he was about to step forward, two crossing black ribbons blocked his path.

"Chief Yuan, what is the meaning of this? Who is this guy?!" Unexpectedly blocked by Yuan Shan, Chen Xing sternly demanded an answer.

He watched as Chen Mingda retreated step by step, completely defenseless against Fu Qian.

"Even if he is from the Night Watchers, he cannot assault a descendant of my Chen Family without reason."

Yet before his words could fall, a violent, raspy roar rang out.

Chen Mingda stopped retreating. His two arms bizarrely swelled up several times their normal size, blocking Fu Qian's next lash.

This terrifying scene made Chen Mingfei, who was standing nearby, scream in horror.

"So annoying!" Chen Mingda raised his head, revealing blood-red eyes.

Amidst the tyrannical voice, half of Chen Mingfei's head was directly sliced off, exposing a twitching tongue within the oral cavity.

"Mingda, you... why?" Staring at Chen Mingfei's half-headed corpse, Chen Xing's eyes widened so hard they nearly tore at the corners.

"Why?" Chen Mingda looked at his own body and let out a bout of hoarse, maniacal laughter.

By now, the mutation was no longer confined to his arms; his entire body had bizarrely swollen and grown. Accompanied by dense, clustering bulges, countless bloody veins surfaced on his skin.

"I worked harder than anyone else, but I could never cross that threshold. Even this idiot dared to mock me as he pleased." Chen Mingda shook Chen Mingfei's head in his hand. "In what way could this good-for-nothing ever compare to me? Yet he dared to act arrogantly in front of me every day, even styling himself as the next generation's heir."

*Chen Mingda truly had a problem!*

By now, Fu Qian had already stopped and retreated to the side.

*It seemed his guess was right; this guy had suppressed himself for so long that he became a psychopath! Now it looks like he indeed had something to do with that rabbit. When he visited Wen Li back then, he was also using the opportunity to probe me. Earlier, Henrik seemed to have briefly regained his sanity, and his desperate, dying strike was aimed right at him.*

*It's a pity that Yuan Shan is ultimately the Night Watchers Chief. Without evidence, even if she had suspicions, she couldn't just attack directly. He, on the other hand, had no such scruples.*

*His earlier words deliberately misled Mingda into thinking he and Yuan Shan already had a tacit understanding, implying they had come specifically for him. If he really had a guilty conscience, his first reaction would definitely be that his secret was exposed.*

*The reason he used a whip was that, judging from previous behavior, Chen Mingda was quite scheming and might have a decent psychological fortitude. Under these circumstances, it was best to supplement it with some methods to slightly lower his sanity. Only then would it be possible for him to slip up and expose himself.*

*Besides, a whip is relatively mild; if he turned out to be wrong, it could perhaps be explained away as an impromptu spar.*

*Facts proved the effect was quite excellent. After a few consecutive lashes, Chen Mingda directly exposed himself.*

*The Tyrant's Fist is simply a divine artifact for forcing confessions, provided the target's realm isn't too high,* Fu Qian thought as he looked at the ring on his hand.

"I had worked hard for too long. When I was on the verge of despair, I got an opportunity, and in the end, I accepted this deal." Chen Mingda looked at Chen Xing. "As long as it could help me cross that threshold, I didn't care what price I had to pay. If I got caught, I'd just have to accept my fate."

"I have seen too many fools who make deals with them." Yuan Shan looked at him coldly. "Everything comes with a price. Look at yourself now... You don't even know what you've turned into. Laughable. Do you think you are still yourself at this moment?"

"Why wouldn't I be? I feel better than ever before. I have waited too long for this moment..."

Before Chen Mingda could finish speaking, he suddenly let out a wretched scream. His already swollen head bulged again and exploded into a bloody, mangled mess.

Bizarrely, his body still did not fall.

"Chief Yuan's evaluation of us is still somewhat biased." A peculiar voice emanated from the bloody mess. "Although our ideologies differ, the Primordial Council are not fraudsters. If possible, I would have still hoped to facilitate this transaction. What a pity, his mind was still too fragile! Furthermore—"

The shattered head turned towards Fu Qian.

"That thing in your hand is very interesting."

"Is that so?" Yuan Shan waved her hand, and ribbons filled the sky, completely encircling the surroundings.

"Destroying me is meaningless. This is merely a piece of flesh carrying a sliver of my consciousness. Even if it is smashed to pieces, it won't cause me any harm. I have already taken the item. Leaving it in your hands would be a complete waste; you don't understand its true value at all."

"How is it so valuable?" Fu Qian suddenly interjected.

"You're interested?"

"I could be."

Hahaha! The voice paused for a moment before bursting into maniacal laughter.

However, the laughter came to an abrupt halt as the deformed head was smashed to pieces by a single punch, splattering into countless drops of blood.

Chen Xing, who threw this punch, seemed to age ten years in an instant.
