Horror Camgirl - Ch. 111: Family Misfortune
President Peng’s sharp eyes caught something, and his expression changed as he shouted, "Stop!"
The Dark Strength experts halted abruptly. President Peng ordered, "All of you, stand down."
Silently, the Dark Strength experts withdrew. Leaning on his cane, President Peng stood up slowly and walked over to me, carefully examining the iron token.
He pointed at the token with a mix of excitement and disbelief. "You—how do you have this?"
I smirked enigmatically and replied, "You don’t need to know."
President Peng’s expression fluctuated, shifting unpredictably. Luo Dewan, seemingly unable to recognize the token, stood up and asked, "President, what is that?"
President Peng didn’t respond to him directly. Instead, Luo Dewan raised his voice, "President Peng, you can’t let her go just because of some iron token. What would become of our association's reputation?"
I lifted my chin slightly and said, "This iron token is the highest credential of the Medicine Guild. You may not recognize it, but President Peng surely does."
I raised my voice, "President Peng, this token is as if Ancestor himself were present. How dare you not pay your respects?"
President Peng was stunned. Hurriedly, he clasped his fists, bowed deeply, and said, "Disciple Peng Yuyan greets Ancestor."
The four directors stood up in shock. Although Peng Yuyan was only a vice president, no one had ever seen him bow to anyone, not even to the president himself.
Yet today, he bowed to an iron token?
What kind of object could hold such power?
"Wait a minute," said the man in the Zhongshan suit, suddenly realizing something. "The phrase ‘Who dares disobey when this token is presented’ sounds so familiar. Oh right, isn't it inscribed behind the Ancestor’s plaque we pay homage to when joining the association?"
"Now that you mention it, I remember," the elderly lady in the qipao stood up and said. "I’ve read the Ancestor’s biography. It mentioned a token, an iron plaque with the word ‘Medicine’ on the front and that phrase on the back. Could this be the Ancestor's token?"
"Impossible!" Luo Dewan shouted. "This girl’s family has been impoverished for generations. How could she possess the Ancestor’s token?"
The elderly lady retorted, "What’s wrong with being poor for generations? My family was also poor for generations. Do you look down on commoners? Just because your ancestors were part of the Manchu imperial clan, do you think you're better than everyone else? This young lady, despite her age, is a skilled alchemist. She must be a descendant of the Ancestor."
Luo Dewan’s face turned bright red. If I truly were a descendant of the Ancestor, their blunder would be catastrophic.
The Ancestor was not only one of the founders of the Alchemist Association but also a legendary alchemist, revered by all alchemists as a hero and a saint.
If I truly were the Ancestor’s descendant, not only would they not dare to harm me, but they would also have to honor me. Anyone who opposed me would be opposing all alchemists in China.
With a mysterious smile, I let my gaze sweep across their faces and said, "This token was given to me by my master."
Everyone immediately understood—the implication was that my master was a direct descendant of the Ancestor, and according to Chinese traditions, that made me an heir to the Ancestor’s legacy as well.
President Peng hurriedly said, "So Madam Yuan is actually a descendant of the Ancestor. We were rude earlier; please forgive us, Madam Yuan."
I smiled, "So, President Peng is no longer planning to send me to the police?"
President Peng quickly waved his hands, "I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare."
I continued, "Then what about Wan Zhongyin?"
President Peng replied, "Wan Zhongyin dared to act on his own and target Madam Yuan’s brother. Such behavior is unfit for someone in the Alchemist Association. I will expel him from the association as soon as I return."
Luo Dewan seemed to want to argue further, but after glancing at the token, he couldn’t find the words to speak.
"So, do I still need to join the Alchemist Association?" I asked. "Do you still want my alchemy recipe?"
President Peng quickly responded, "Since Madam Yuan is a descendant of the Ancestor, you are one of us. There’s no need for membership procedures, nor do we need your alchemy formula as a fee. The association will always be your steadfast support."
I smiled faintly, "How could I accept such generosity?"
President Peng shook his head, "For a descendant of the Ancestor, this is the least we can offer. If you formally joined the association, you'd be guaranteed at least the rank of a director."
I sighed, "What a pity. My master has forbidden me from joining any organization. Otherwise, becoming a director would indeed be appealing."
The elderly lady in the qipao chuckled, "Your master must know that your identity is too unique. He probably fears that with so many people eager to flatter you at a young age, it might spoil your character and hinder your future growth in the field of alchemy."
I thought to myself: This is the power of authority. People will find reasons to justify your lies on their own.
I put away the iron token and said, "Since it was all just a misunderstanding, I’ll take my leave. Please, feel free to continue with your business."
President Peng personally escorted me to the door and instructed someone to safely see me home.
After I left, Luo Dewan, seeing that the other three had already dispersed, quietly approached President Peng and said, “President Peng, it’s just an iron token. It could very well be a fake.”
President Peng gave a cold snort. “Do you think that’s just any ordinary iron token? It’s crafted from extremely special materials using an incredibly unique process. It’s not something that can be easily counterfeited.”
Luo Dewan added, “Even if she’s really a descendant of the Ancestor, so what? We could easily make her disappear without anyone knowing…”
“Shut up!” President Peng roared. “You think you’re smart? Didn’t you see it? That girl’s master is definitely someone formidable. If we dare lay a finger on her, her master will surely come seeking revenge. When word gets out that we’re persecuting a descendant of the Ancestor, who’s going to bear that accusation? You or me?”
Luo Dewan, scolded harshly, couldn’t lift his head. President Peng gave another cold snort and said, “That woman is not to be messed with. Heaven knows what kind of powerful figures she has backing her. Don’t go looking for trouble with her again. Understood?”
Luo Dewan’s eyelid twitched, and he said, “But what about Wan Zhongyin...?”
“Hmph, that Wan Zhongyin thinks he’s invincible just because he has talent and a great master,” President Peng said. “This time, let him suffer a bit. It’ll be good for him to learn some humility. Send him back to his master.”
Even within the Alchemist Association, there were factions. Wan Zhongyin belonged to Luo Dewan’s faction, and being expelled from the association meant Luo Dewan had lost a key supporter.
Feeling unwilling, Luo Dewan turned around with a look of cold, venomous resentment flashing in his eyes, his chubby face trembling with anger.
I returned home, opened up the chat group, and said, “Senior Huang Luzi, how did I do today? Did I slap their faces hard enough?”
Huang Luzi sighed and said, “What a disgrace to my family. The Medicine Guild has truly fallen to such a state. It’s heartbreaking.”
“What’s so strange about that?” Yin Changsheng commented. “The world has always been like this. Just look at Confucius—his philosophy was twisted beyond recognition by later generations. Your Medicine Guild is hardly the only one.”
Huang Shan Jun said sourly, “My Huangtian Sect is completely extinct, and you don’t hear me complaining. What’s your excuse?”
“Alright, alright, enough with the bickering,” True Lord Zhengyang interjected. “Huang Luzi, you promised a great reward. Where’s the reward? If you haven’t given it yet, hurry up.”
“No need for you to remind me,” Huang Luzi replied and sent me a file. Opening it, I was surprised to see it was a recipe for a pill.
The Wind Movement Pill.
Consuming this elixir increases speed by fifty times for half an hour—an excellent tool for a quick escape.
Huang Luzi said, “Girl, your cultivation level is low, but your fame is high. You’re bound to attract people’s covetous eyes. Having this for protection is better than falling into someone else’s hands.”
“Thank you, Senior Huang,” I quickly expressed my gratitude, then eagerly went off to start refining the pill.
The Wind Movement Pill is also a First-Grade Pill. The other ingredients were easy enough to find, but the Wind-Chasing Grass was particularly hard to locate. I searched all over Shan City and finally managed to find just one plant—barely enough for a single batch.
Without a proper alchemy furnace, I had to resort to using a pressure cooker. The success rate was only fifty percent, but even if they were just mid-grade pills, I’d take it.
I checked my account balance online; there were only twenty to thirty thousand dollars left. Alchemy really is a money pit. That single stalk of Wind-Chasing Grass, only twenty-five years old, had a staggering price tag of three million.
But, alas, that’s the price you pay for something so rare.
