Horror Camgirl - Ch. 115: Leveling Up During Battle
I cursed the heavens in my heart, utterly exasperated. One trouble hadn’t even ended before another one began.
“Haha, this is so entertaining!” Huang Shan Jun laughed carelessly. "The battle between you and the Demon Child actually woke up an ancient foreign demon. Tonight's live stream is absolutely insane."
“Unbelievable!” Tang Mingli glanced at the ancient book for just a moment before turning and running while holding me.
He thought the front door would be too slow, so he kicked off from the ground, heading straight up through the ceiling he had shattered earlier.
Suddenly, the book opened by itself. The pages began flipping on their own, and from the fluttering pages, a demonic Western face appeared.
We leapt out of the villa and quickly got into the Hummer H, speeding away. I had no idea how far we drove until we finally stopped.
“Thank goodness we got away,” I sighed in relief, looking around. We were on a highway, with woods on both sides, and everything was quiet.
Tang Mingli seemed to sense something. “There's something in the woods!” he said.
The shadows of the trees moved, and several creatures, dark blue and resembling Western devils, emerged from the forest.
“Go, quickly!” I grabbed Tang Mingli’s arm and shouted.
“Hold on tight!” He floored the gas pedal, speeding up as fast as possible, and the car shot forward.
Bang!
A devil landed on the car roof, creating a dent. Tang Mingli performed a perfect drift, shaking the devil off, but it grabbed onto the door handle, punched through the car window, and clamped its hand around my neck.
Suddenly, it recoiled, as if it had touched a hot iron.
Ghostly creatures often like to choke people, so before coming here, I had applied a layer of special cinnabar on my neck, and surprisingly, it worked on this Western devil!
I immediately grabbed a handful of cinnabar and smeared it across the devil's face. Its entire face began to burn, and it let go of the door handle, falling away.
Bang!
Another dull noise came from above. I looked up to see the entire roof of the car being ripped off by two more devils, and they crawled directly into the car.
I kept tossing cinnabar while swinging my peachwood sword infused with spiritual energy, stabbing it into their bodies. They instantly turned into black mist and vanished.
However, more devils kept appearing. They materialized in mid-air, then charged into the car to fight us.
“Jun Yao, you drive!” Tang Mingli roared. I quickly leaned over to grab the wheel, while he turned and stood, channeling his inner strength into his palm and blasting a powerful strike backward. His mastery of Transformation Strength sent all the devils scattering into smoke.
But the black mist lingered in the air for a moment before reforming into new devils. No matter how many we destroyed, they just wouldn’t end.
We kept fighting those monsters for almost an hour. Our spiritual energy and inner strength were nearly exhausted, but the devils were endless. Strangely, we should have reached the Yang-energy-rich urban area by now—why were we still on a winding mountain road?
Something was wrong. There was a trick here!
While I was briefly distracted, the windshield shattered, and a devil lunged at me. Instinctively, I grabbed the peachwood sword to block it, but in doing so, lost control of the wheel. The car careened off the road toward a cliff.
I screamed as everything spun around. Just when I thought I was done for, a commanding voice echoed through the chaos—Yin Changsheng’s voice: “Yuan Junyao, wake up!”
I jolted awake, finding myself still inside the villa with Tang Mingli, who was still holding me.
A chill ran down my spine—everything we had experienced in that highway chase was just an illusion!
But the illusion was far too real. Even the pain of falling off the cliff still lingered vividly on my body.
Suddenly, I noticed something was wrong with Tang Mingli.
He stood motionless, his gaze empty. His body, however, had sustained numerous strange scratches and bruises. There was even a sharp cracking sound as one of his ribs broke.
My heart sank—did that mean everything we experienced in the illusion would manifest in reality?
If we died in the illusion...
I didn't dare continue the thought and urgently asked, “How can I get him out of this illusion?”
Yin Changsheng's voice responded, “Use your spirit sense. Enter his mind directly!”
I immediately focused my spirit sense into a sharp beam and directed it into his mind. In his mental space, I shouted, “Ming Li, wake up!”
Tang Mingli shuddered, and life returned to his eyes. He looked around, astonished. “We… are still here?”
I quickly took out two healing pills and gave them to him. “We've been trapped by something!”
His eyes were filled with rage. We turned to see that ancient book floating mid-air, a mass of dark shadow swirling around it continuously.
Tang Mingli's gaze was full of killing intent, but I stopped him. “We can’t take it head-on.”
Yin Changsheng spoke through my earphones, "Whether it's a ghost from China or overseas, they all follow the same principles. The demon in this book isn’t particularly powerful; it's also a Vengeful Ghost, but its ability to confuse is extremely strong. One careless mistake, and you could fall victim to it. Miss Yuan, you can only fight it with your spiritual sense. Do you see the black mist surrounding it? Use your spiritual sense to force the mist back into the book, then set the book on fire."
I said to Tang Mingli, "I have a way to deal with it. Step back a couple of steps."
Tang Mingli was silent for a moment, then said, "Be careful."
With that, he stepped back immediately.
["Why is Tyrant chickening out? How can he let a woman take over at this point?"]
["Sigh, I originally thought Tyrant was a tough guy, but I didn’t expect him to hide behind a woman at a critical moment."]
["What's with the male chauvinists in the front? Tyrant isn't chickening out; he's trusting the streamer! He’s putting his back in her hands, not treating her as some fragile woman who needs protecting!"]
["Good point. Tyrant is actually showing real respect for the streamer."]
["Why are you all arguing? This foreign demon isn't easy. I don't think the streamer can win this time."]
["I agree, it's risky. It might be better to start thinking about how to escape."]
By this time, I was already standing in front of the demonic book. The face on the cover seemed to mock my arrogance.
Suddenly, the black mist surrounding the book surged towards me, enveloping my face.
The Live Stream Room was filled with cries.
["Oh my God, I can't watch this anymore. Streamer, just run!"]
["Streamer, if you die, where will we ever find such a reliable streamer again?"]
["Streamer, I’m Dongfeng Po. Your Elixir Pill worked great for me. You have so much potential ahead of you, don’t waste your life on reckless bravery. When it’s time to run, you should run!"]
But by then, I could no longer hear any sound from the outside world. I closed my eyes as the black mist infiltrated my spiritual sense. I fought it desperately, but the force was too strong. I was losing my grip.
It seemed as though the face on the book was sneering at me with a smug, mocking expression.
No, I absolutely cannot lose!
I, Yuan Junyao, have survived until today because of my unyielding will. Compared to the scorn, pranks, and even abuse I've endured for the past twenty years, what is this little demon worth?
I, Yuan Junyao, must live. And not just live—I must live a life of my own!
Come on! Let's see whose willpower is stronger.
I clenched my fist. In that moment of clarity, I suddenly felt something within me break open. Spiritual Energy from all around poured into my body, and the airflow lifted the scattered papers off the ground, making them swirl around me.
Tang Mingli was shocked. Was this... a breakthrough?
["The streamer is incredible! She actually broke through to Second Grade in the middle of battle!"] said someone who knew what they were talking about.
["Is this what cultivators call a breakthrough? Amazing!"]
["Heh, the person before clearly hasn’t seen much. This is nothing. It’s just a breakthrough to Second Grade. When people break through to the fourth or fifth grades, phenomena appear in the sky—that’s what you call amazing."]
At this point, I felt my spiritual sense expand, becoming even stronger. I immediately counterattacked, invading the black mist, surrounding and swallowing it.
My spiritual sense quickly spread out, swallowing the dark power that had invaded my mind.
The face on the demonic book showed an expression of shock and fear. It quickly withdrew the black mist, trying to escape.
I abruptly opened my eyes. From overexerting my spiritual sense, two drops of blood flowed from my eyes. "Trying to run now? It's already too late."
