Horror Camgirl - Ch. 141: Little Fang is Missing Too
I was so furious I wanted to hit him. Glaring at him, I said, "Tyrant, take Little Fang and keep moving. I'll go find Shi Xiu."
"No way." Tang Mingli grabbed my hand firmly and said, "In horror movies, splitting up is the dumbest idea. We'll look together."
He had a point, so I nodded in agreement. Tang Mingli took the lead, Little Fang stayed in the middle, and I brought up the rear.
We retraced our steps for a while when suddenly Tang Mingli and I stopped in unison. We shouted, "Who’s there?"
In the darkness, a faint light appeared, gradually drawing closer. Tang Mingli pulled out his short dagger, and I gripped my peachwood sword tightly.
The light stopped about ten paces ahead of us, then slowly lifted, illuminating an old, wrinkled face.
It was an elderly man, thankfully not a foreigner. Based on the intel we'd received, this was supposed to be a U.S. B-movie-style horror setting, and I was worried the characters might also be American.
"Who are you?" the old man asked in a sinister tone. "What are you doing in the forest this deep at night? Don’t you know how dangerous it is here?"
Tang Mingli stepped forward. "Sir, we were out hiking and got lost. One of our companions is missing. Have you seen a young man in a police uniform?"
The old man replied, "If he’s already lost, don’t bother looking for him. He won’t survive. If you go searching, you’ll die too."
Little Fang shouted, "You old creep! Did you kidnap my friend?"
Tang Mingli punched him in the stomach, making him double over in pain.
"Sorry, my friend here is very close to the one who went missing and can’t handle this well," I quickly explained. "Please don’t take offense."
The old man snorted coldly and said, "I’ve seen plenty of people like you. At first, they all say they won’t abandon their friends. Later, though? Heh, they run faster than rabbits."
Little Fang clutched his stomach and yelled at Tang Mingli, "Who the hell do you think you are? Even my dad wouldn’t dare hit me, and you—"
Tang Mingli punched him again, shutting him up entirely.
【Whose spoiled brat is this? So dumb—he wouldn’t last one episode in a horror drama.】
【He’d definitely be the first to die in a horror movie.】
【Tyrant is a master of Transformation Strength. If he wanted to, one punch would gut you. Be grateful he’s sparing you!】
Tang Mingli turned to the old man. "Sir, could you show us the way out?"
The old man said, "To leave the forest, you’ve got a few miles of mountain road ahead. At this hour, walking that path is a death wish. Here’s the deal—since fate brought us together, you can stay at my place for the night, and I’ll guide you out tomorrow morning."
After a pause, he added, "The cost is 300 per person for the night."
【300 per person? That’s robbery! Your place isn’t a four-star hotel!】
【He’s probably not just after money—he might be after lives.】
【This old guy’s appearance is way too suspicious. Maybe he’s the one who took Shi Xiu.】
【But if he wanted to kill, why ask for money? What if we refuse to stay because it’s too expensive?】
Tang Mingli and I exchanged glances and said, "We’ll trouble you, then."
We followed the old man deeper into the forest. Meanwhile, the live-stream chat buzzed with theories.
【Weird. If the forest is so dangerous, why does this old guy live here? He doesn’t seem to have a family either.】
【Do you even have to ask? He’s either an accomplice or the killer.】
Before coming here, I had researched the plot of this drama. I contacted a police officer and a retired special forces soldier who’d been terrified by it years ago. Both had since quit their jobs and left Longshan County.
They told me they hadn’t dared to watch much of the movie. All they remembered was a tall man dressed as a butcher, wearing a blood-stained leather apron and wielding a pig-slaughtering knife, chasing victims relentlessly through the woods.
The killer lived in a creepy cabin in the forest. Behind the cabin was a slaughterhouse stained with blood, where he dismembered his victims alive and buried the body parts in a clearing behind the slaughterhouse.
That was all they could recall.
After walking through the forest for half an hour, we arrived at a cabin. It was a two-story tiled house, built in the style of a southern rural home.
When we entered, we noticed a large bloodstain on the ground near the front yard.
The old man said, "I killed a chicken today. There's some chicken soup left for tonight; I'll heat it up for you."
Ever since Little Fang got beaten up, he didn’t dare to say a word, but his eyes were full of venom as he stared fixedly at Tang Mingli.
Tang Mingli didn’t pay him any attention.
When we entered the house, I noticed a family photo hanging on the wall. It was black and white, slightly yellowed with age. It showed a family of three. The man in the photo looked familiar—it was the old man when he was much younger.
His wife was quite pretty, and their child had an adorably round face.
"Grandpa, isn’t your wife home?" I asked.
The old man replied matter-of-factly, "She passed away many years ago. That year, a plague swept through the village. My wife got infected. I could only take her away from the village and bring her here to recuperate, but alas, she still didn’t survive."
The old man arranged a room for each of us, but we weren’t about to sleep in separate rooms. Even Little Fang shamelessly squeezed into the same room with us.
"What do you think of this old man?" Tang Mingli asked me.
I stroked my chin and said, "Judging by typical movie plots, this old man must be an important character. He’s probably connected to that butcher. But we don’t know if the movie's plot changes every time or if those who went missing before ever came here."
A glimmer of sharpness flashed in Tang Mingli’s eyes. "If they did come here, they must’ve left some traces."
The three of us began searching inch by inch. After pulling out some miscellaneous items stored under the bed, we found a watch in the corner.
It was a multifunctional digital watch, quite expensive and ideal for outdoor survival.
Clearly, this watch didn’t belong to the old man.
[This watch is my brother’s! There’s a red mark on the black strap—it’s a stain I accidentally made! My brother disappeared in this theater four years ago!]
[My condolences to the commenter above…]
I flipped the watch over and found bloodstains on the back.
This indicated that the person wearing the watch was attacked here.
"This place isn’t safe," I said. "Everyone needs to stay alert."
As night deepened, we all grew tired and dozed off leaning against the bed.
Suddenly, I jolted awake from a deep sleep. Looking at the time, I realized I’d been asleep for an hour—a deep sleep, far deeper than I should have been.
Something felt off. I turned to see that Tang Mingli had also fallen asleep.
This was bad. No matter how tired we were, as a Taoist and a martial artist, we shouldn’t have been able to sleep so soundly.
We’d definitely been compromised!
Little Fang! Little Fang was gone!
I immediately shook Tang Mingli awake. Even though we’d been asleep, the livestream was still running.
I picked up my phone and said, "Dear viewers, can anyone tell me what just happened?"
The comments section exploded in a flurry of messages.
Apparently, we all fell asleep, and about twenty minutes in, Little Fang suddenly woke up. It seemed like he knew we would fall asleep. He even nudged us a few times. Seeing that we were completely out, he took my backpack and snuck away quietly.
I was shocked. I’d thought he’d been captured by some ghost, but it turned out he’d left of his own accord—and stolen all my gear.
Let me tell you, my backpack contained elixir pills, formation flags, and other essential tools worth billions.
That alone was enough to land him in jail for decades.
Not to mention, in this ghostly space, those items were our lifeline!
"Unbelievable. Looks like the hunter’s finally gotten bitten by the prey," Tang Mingli said. "Did he drug us?"
I shook my head. "If he’d used drugs, I would’ve noticed. Tyrant, this Little Fang might actually be an Ability User."
Tang Mingli was startled. "An Ability User? He has some kind of hypnosis or sleep-inducing power?"
