Horror Camgirl - Ch. 142: The Ghost Village in the Woods
I frowned and said, "He must have gone to find the Butcher. Tyrant, let's go too—there's no point in staying here."
Tang Mingli replied, "Since he has the ability to put people to sleep, maybe he can kill the Butcher."
I gave a bitter smile and said, "Unless his power can hypnotize ghosts."
That Butcher isn't even a normal living person.
As we opened the door to leave, an old man suddenly appeared at the end of the hallway, holding a lantern. He said, "It's late. Where are you two headed?"
Tang Mingli instinctively stepped in front of me, cautiously asking, "The young guy who was with us is missing. Old man, do you know where he went?"
The old man’s eyes seemed deep and distant. "He's already gone. Off to his death. Are you two planning to meet the same fate?"
Tang Mingli drew his short dagger and said, "Old man, please step aside."
The old man chuckled darkly, "If you're so eager to die, why not stay and feed my son instead?"
Just then, I heard faint footsteps, like those of a small child running upstairs.
But this was the second floor. This house only had two stories.
I narrowed my eyes slightly and said, "Back then, besides your wife, your son also caught the plague, didn't he?"
A sinister smile appeared on the old man's face, his deeply wrinkled skin like old tree bark, enough to crush a fly.
"Back then, my wife died, and my son was also on the verge of death. He was all I had left. I couldn't let him die. Fortunately, my ancestor was a shaman who passed down a secret method that could save him, but it required feeding him with the blood of the living."
He took a step forward, his smile growing grotesque. "Don't worry, you won't die. I only need a little of your blood. Once I've drained you, I'll wait for the Butcher to come and collect it."
Tang Mingli's face darkened. "You're working with the Butcher?"
"I had no choice." The old man sighed. "The Butcher is a monster. If I don't help him, neither my son nor I can survive."
I understood why the old man hadn’t stopped Little Fang—Little Fang must have hypnotized him.
He was still alive, but barely distinguishable from the dead.
Tang Mingli sneered, "Do you really think that monster son of yours can catch us?"
"Son." The old man called out, "The food is here. Come eat."
Suddenly, I felt a surge of Yin energy behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a child around seven or eight years old. His limbs were twisted into an unnatural shape, crawling on the ground like a lizard at alarming speed. He pushed off the wall and lunged at me with incredible speed.
"Evil beast!" My Peachwood Sword had been taken, so I could only chant an incantation, forming a seal with my hands. Just as the ghost child was about to reach me, a burst of fire erupted from my palms, enveloping him.
"Gaah!" The ghost child let out a shrill scream, rolling on the floor in agony.
"No! My son! My son!" The old man rushed over, frantically trying to extinguish the flames with his coat, but it was useless. By the time he managed to put out the fire, the ghost child had already turned into a charred mass.
"My son, my son! You damn woman, you killed my son. I will make you pay with your life!" He suddenly pulled out a fruit knife and stabbed it into his own heart. Blood gushed out as he shouted, "Wife! I summon you! Come back and tear these two who killed our son to shreds!"
With that, he fell backwards, landing stiffly on the ground, his pupils dilating—he was beyond saving.
Blood flowed from his body, forming a crimson pool beneath him.
Suddenly, I sensed an overwhelming ghostly presence, as if a century-old spirit had descended.
"This is bad! Run!" I shouted at Tang Mingli, throwing a Fireball behind me. The pool of blood ignited instantly.
At that moment, a head began to emerge from the pool, followed by two blood-red eyes, sunken in dark, smudged circles as if painted with the thickest smokey makeup. Then came a face—reasonably pretty, now twisted in hatred, staring directly at us.
This was the woman who died from the plague!
She was actually a high-level Vengeful Ghost!
【Whoa, first the weaker one, now the elder one. I knew there was something off about this old guy.】
【This ghost girl is pretty hot though, totally fappable.】
【The previous stuff was really too intense.】
【Without the Peachwood Sword and Elixir Pill, can the streamer girl really escape? I'm kinda worried.】
Tang Mingli and I sprinted away as fast as we could, charging down the stairs and bursting out of the building.
The full moon above us looked even bigger, casting a pale glow over the entire forest.
That ghost was chasing us!
I felt the chilling wind at my back, and Tang Mingli, without a second thought, scooped me up in his arms, using his light-footed skills to run away at top speed.
I wasn't sure how long we had been running, but eventually, his speed slowed, and he finally came to a stop.
Ahead of us, there was a village!
I glanced behind us, and the ghost was nowhere in sight.
"Tyrant, let’s check out that village," I said.
Tang Mingli nodded, and I groaned internally, "Can you put me down now? I can run on my own."
He reluctantly put me down, sighing, "Such a shame, I was hoping to hold you a bit longer."
My face turned bright red, and I chose to ignore him. The comments in the live stream room were probably going wild, but I couldn't bring myself to look.
We walked into the village. Many of the houses still had lights on, so we knocked on the door of one of them. The family inside seemed startled. "Who are you?"
"We were out camping and got lost here. Could we come in for a bit? It's really cold outside," I pleaded.
A middle-aged woman opened the door. After a moment of silence, she opened it wider, saying, "Come in."
We entered the house, and there were only three people: an elderly woman with missing teeth, the middle-aged woman who had opened the door, and a young girl, probably around ten years old.
The elderly woman looked kind and asked, "Young lady, did you come from the forest?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"It's very late. The forest isn't safe at night," the old woman said. "You didn't run into anything, did you?"
I kept a straight face and shook my head, "We didn’t run into anything. It's just really dark out there. Why, are there wild animals in there?"
The old woman shook her head. "It’s good you didn't run into anything. Getting out of that forest... you two must be very lucky."
At this point, the middle-aged woman came out with a pot of freshly warmed rib soup.
It was made with cured ribs and white radish, and the smell was so appetizing. We had been running for a while, and our stomachs were empty, so they were practically growling in anticipation.
"Please, make yourselves comfortable. We don’t have much here, but this cured meat is good. Go on, have some."
I picked up the bowl of soup, brought it to my nose to sniff, and then put it back down.
"Why aren’t you eating?" The elderly woman looked displeased. "Don’t you like our country food?"
"Ma’am, I just remembered something before eating," I said. "Do you know a family with the surname Cen who lives in the forest?"
Clatter.
The middle-aged woman, who was washing dishes, suddenly shuddered, dropping the bowl she was holding onto the floor with a sharp crash.
The elderly woman forced a smile. "Never heard of them. Why are you asking?"
I slapped my forehead and said, "Oh, silly me, I forgot. I ran into a woman in the forest."
"A woman?" The old lady looked alarmed. "What woman? What did she look like?"
I stayed silent, but Tang Mingli threw his soup bowl onto the table and grabbed the middle-aged woman, gripping her throat between his thumb and forefinger.
The elderly woman gasped. "What are you doing?! We took you in out of kindness and even gave you food, and now you’re attacking us? Are you bandits?"
"We aren’t bandits, but you are," I pointed at the soup bowl. "What kind of people would poison a guest's soup other than robbers?"
The elderly woman turned pale, then her face darkened. She gritted her teeth and said, "So, you figured it out, huh?"
I scoffed, "I'm a doctor. I could tell just by smelling it that something was added to this soup."
The elderly woman’s expression turned mournful. "Do you think I want to do this? I have no choice. There’s a vengeful ghost in that forest, and if we don’t help capture travelers to offer to it, it will kill everyone in this village."
