Horror Camgirl - Ch. 143: Ghost Locking Chain

Tang Mingli said darkly, "Looks like you've killed quite a few people."

"We were all forced to! It's not our fault!" the old lady argued defensively.

I frowned and asked, "What did your village do to the Cen family back then?"

Back then, Old Man Cen had spoken about leaving the village due to an epidemic, and his eyes were filled with hatred. Now, as I mentioned Old Man Cen's wife, this old lady looked utterly terrified.

As the saying goes, 'A clear conscience fears no accusation.' If she’s so scared, she must have done something truly horrible.

Sure enough, the old lady started trembling all over. She pointed at me and said, "Y-you, how did you see Osmanthus, that wretched girl? What did you do?"

"So you really did something unforgivable to them all those years ago." I sneered.

The old lady, clenching her false teeth, replied, "Back then, Osmanthus and that brat both caught the plague, and we just told them to leave the village to recover. Anyone would have done the same! Who knew they’d hold such a grudge? That old Cen used sorcery to resurrect his son, and every so often he came to the village to grab people and drain their blood for his son. And that butcher—he was brought by them too. Several young women in our village were killed by him!"

Before she could finish speaking, a gust of cold wind blew, rattling the windows and doors.

A chill ran down my spine, and I turned to Tang Mingli, saying, "Not good, she’s here."

We stared straight at the space behind the old lady, who began to feel a creeping sense of dread. Slowly, she turned her head and saw the pale, horrifying face of Osmanthus.

"Ahhh!" The old lady screamed like a pig being slaughtered. She dropped to her knees with a thud, hugging her head and crying, "I'm sorry, Osmanthus! I was wrong! I shouldn't have been jealous of your beauty. I shouldn’t have given the clothes worn by a sick person to your son to wear. It’s all my fault. Please forgive me."

[Whoa, isn't this like something out of a palace intrigue novel?]

[A rural woman, yet she harbored such a cruel mind!]

[This kind of person deserves to die. I support the ghost in taking her out.]

[Yeah, she’s the one who should die. Leave our streamer alone.]

The ghost, Osmanthus, showed a face filled with rage and resentment. She stared at the old lady with vicious intent and suddenly moved toward the ten-year-old girl hiding in the corner.

The little girl didn't even have time to scream as Osmanthus grabbed her by the neck. Her eyes rolled back, and she looked like she was about to die.

I clenched my teeth. I’m not a saint, but I couldn't just stand by and watch a little girl get killed by a ghost.

I stepped in. Raising my hand, I pointed at the ghost’s arm. A thin streak of lightning struck her arm, causing the ghost to release the girl in shock.

The girl scrambled away, trembling in the corner.

Osmanthus glared at me fiercely.

I said, "The one responsible for your death is right here—the one who harmed you and your child. If you want revenge, take it out on her. Why harm the innocent?"

[Whoa, streamer’s got a bit of a savior complex.]

[Yeah, revenge is supposed to be family-wide. If the ghost kills this girl, it's understandable.]

[What kind of messed-up views are these? Have a sense of justice, come on. This isn't the Dark Ages.]

[Justice? In revenge, is there any room for that? Get real.]

Osmanthus glared at me, old hatred mixed with new. She vanished and suddenly appeared behind me, swiping her hand at me, sending me flying across the room.

Tang Mingli immediately let go of the middle-aged woman and caught me. The ghost seized the opportunity to grab the middle-aged woman's head, crushing it with a sickening crack. Blood and brain matter splattered.

"Mom!" The little girl screamed and started crying. Osmanthus turned her malicious gaze on her, moving to grab her again.

I gritted my teeth and shouted, "Ugly witch!"

No woman could tolerate being called ugly, and I was betting on that. Sure enough, the ghost froze mid-step. She looked back at me, her eyes now filled with insidious malice. She disappeared once again, and I quickly turned, forming a seal with my hands, conjuring a white chain out of thin air.

The chain was semi-transparent, barely visible. I swung it, and it wrapped around something invisible in the air.

"Bind!" I shouted, forming another hand seal. The chain tightened with a crisp, locking sound.

The ghost began to materialize, struggling and shrieking, her eyes filled with poisonous resentment as they bore into me.

[Whoa, what was that? That chain was so cool—like a ghostbuster move!]

[That looked like some kind of ghost-hunting technique!]

[Streamer, I just sent you ten Golden Crowns. Can you teach me that move?]

[Don’t even think about it—only Second Grade cultivators can use it.]

[Isn’t this the legendary, long-lost technique—the Ghost Locking Chain? Streamer, who are your elders anyway? This skill has been lost for almost a thousand years.]

This move was one of the basic spells from a book given to me by an elder. I thought it was interesting and learned it, though I’d never managed to pull it off before. I guess in this moment of crisis, it just happened to work.

I called to the little girl, "This chain won’t hold her for long. Get out of here, quickly!"

The little girl bit her lip, stood up, and helped her grandmother to her feet, rushing toward the door.

Tang Mingli and I followed right behind them. Osmanthus kept struggling, but I knew the chain would only hold her for ten minutes.

We ran to the head of the village, to the best house in the area. The old lady burst in and shouted, "Village Chief! It's bad! Osmanthus is back, and she wants revenge!"

The Village Chief, who had been sleeping, rushed out wearing a hastily thrown-on coat, looking anxious. "Didn't Cen Dongshan promise us? As long as we kept giving his son the passersby, he wouldn’t bring his crazy wife back to life!"

The old lady pointed at us. "It’s their fault! They’re the ones who provoked Osmanthus. Village Chief, she hates them. If we hand them over to Osmanthus, she'll definitely let us go."

I frowned, this old woman really had the nerve to bite the hand that fed her!

The Village Chief gave us a look, turned around, grabbed a mallet wrapped in red cloth, and struck the bronze gong hanging on the wall with a heavy hit.

The loud noise instantly echoed throughout the entire village. People rushed over with hoes, sickles, axes, and whatever they could grab, forming a tight circle around us. They glared at us with malicious expressions, as if we were their mortal enemies.

The Village Chief spoke coldly, "Don't blame us for being ruthless. We're doing this for the well-being of everyone in the village, young and old."

[Streamer, see? I told you not to be so soft-hearted. These villagers aren't worth saving.]

[That old woman is truly despicable. No wonder she was so wicked in her youth, spreading the plague on purpose.]

[Streamer, we're all waiting for you to turn things around. You can do it!]

[Don't worry. Who's our streamer, anyway? She even dealt with the Fierce Ghost from Jinling. These ordinary folks are nothing.]

[Tremble before the Holy Light of our streamer, you mere mortals!]

I sneered, "Is this how you also drove the Cen Family out back then?"

The Village Chief gave a cold snort. "Enough talk. Get them! Tie them up!"

Tang Mingli leaned slightly towards me and whispered in my ear, "Step back. I'll handle these people."

I replied, "There's no need to waste energy on this. Someone else will deal with them."

After that, I checked the time and said, "The ten minutes are up."

At that moment, I clearly felt the sound of my Soul Locking Chain snapping with a loud crack. Osmanthus was furious, her eyes filled with a ferocious red glow.

An enraged Vengeful Ghost loses all sense of reason. In her current state, she kills whatever she sees.

And besides, these villagers were her enemies.

As a few of the burly villagers rushed towards us, a sudden chilling wind swept over. Everyone felt the cold seep into their bones, a shiver ran down their spines, and an unprecedented fear arose in their hearts.

Suddenly, a ghostly aura flashed through the air and lunged at the Village Chief. Before he could even react, a bloody gash appeared across his neck, and bright red blood gushed out. Moments later, his head rolled to the ground.

"Ah! Village Chief!" the villagers screamed in horror.

The ghostly aura hovered in the air for a moment and then revealed its true form.

"Osmanthus! It's really Osmanthus!" the villagers shouted in terror, "She's back for revenge! Run!"

The villagers immediately dropped their weapons and scattered in panic, but there was no way the vengeful ghost would let them go.

The ghost turned into a dark mist again, disappearing momentarily before diving into the fleeing crowd. The villagers screamed low, guttural cries of agony as they fell one after another. Some had arms severed, some legs, others were split in two at the waist, and a few had deep gashes in their stomachs, spilling intestines onto the ground.

"Die!" the ghost shouted, "You all must die! Die!"

[I know it sounds wrong, but this is so satisfying to watch!]

[Yeah, serves them right for turning against their savior!]

[People like this deserve to be killed by the vengeful ghost!]

I pulled Tang Mingli by the arm, saying, "Let's go!"

Tang Mingli nodded, and the two of us left the village, running quickly into the forest.

We didn't know how long we had been running. Even though I am a Second-Rank Cultivator, I was starting to get tired.

Tang Mingli gently supported me. "She hasn’t followed us. Let’s take a break."

I nodded and sat down on the roots of a nearby tree. Tang Mingli sat beside me and said, "If you're tired, you can lean on my shoulder."

I hesitated for a moment but ended up leaning against the tree trunk instead to rest.
