Horror Camgirl - Ch. 152: The Past of Yin Shengyao
"An Esper!" One of them shouted, recognizing what I was, "She's an Ability User!"
"What?" The leader was startled. I walked straight up to him and said coldly, "I'll give you one chance. Tell me, who sent you here?"
The leader trembled all over. He had only heard about Ability Users before, but had never seen one in person.
He had heard that Ability Users were all powerful, ruthless individuals that should never be messed with, or else one would die a terrible death without anyone to turn to for justice.
"Speak!" I raised my hand next to his ear, letting a trace of frost freeze half his face. He felt his cheek go numb, and he shouted in terror, "It was... it was Brother Huang who sent us!"
"Brother Huang?" I frowned. Who was this person? I had never heard of him.
Yin Shengyao stepped forward and said, "This Brother Huang, named Huang Chen, is Ivanov's ally in China. He controls half of the medicinal herb business around Changbai Mountain."
"Half?" I asked.
"The other half is in the hands of Lord Hu," Yin Shengyao replied. "It's Lord Hu who does business with us."
Suddenly, Yin Shengyao shouted, "Watch out!"
He pushed me aside, his toe brushing against a nearby chair, sending it flying into the air. A wind blade struck the chair, shattering it into pieces with a sharp snap.
"A Wind Ability User?" Yin Shengyao stood protectively in front of me. Outside the window, a tall foreign man with blonde hair stood in the snow, wearing a black coat and a peaked cap that concealed most of his face.
"A Martial Artist and an Ability User," the man said in fluent Mandarin. "No wonder you were able to kill Ivan."
Yin Shengyao smirked, "One of Ivanov's Five Generals, known as the Wind God, Roman. I didn't expect Ivanov to send you here."
Roman's voice was cold, "You know me?"
"With your fame in Russia, it would be hard not to know you," Yin Shengyao said. "Just as well, I've always been curious about Ivanov's Five Great Generals. Since you're here today, why not have a match with me?"
Yin Shengyao clapped his palms together, sending a gust of wind toward Roman. Tables and chairs along the path were lifted into the air, breaking into sharp fragments that shot toward Roman.
Roman's eyes glinted sharply beneath his hat, and a fierce wind suddenly whipped around him, lifting the hem of his black coat.
The powerful wind blocked Yin Shengyao's attack, but Yin Shengyao's fist was already in front of him. The two began to fight hand-to-hand, each blow landing with force, destroying the tables, chairs, and benches around them.
I was secretly shocked. Roman was a level-three Ability User!
A level-three Ability User was comparable to a Transformation Strength master. That someone like this would willingly serve under Ivanov—just who was this Ivanov?
Could it be that Ivanov himself was an Ability User?
What kind of person had I gotten myself involved with?
But even if I had to choose again, I would still step in without hesitation. Come on, it’s a five-hundred-year-old ginseng, something almost impossible to come by. Once I found it, I was not going to let it go.
The two were evenly matched, and I couldn't just stand by and do nothing, but their speed was too fast for me to intervene.
Suddenly, one of the thugs that had been frozen broke free of the ice, charged at me, and drew a sharp knife from his sleeve, slashing toward me.
This guy turned out to be a Martial Artist!
Fortunately, after practicing martial arts for so long, my body reacted instinctively.
I lunged forward, and the blade grazed my body, knocking off my hat and severing a few strands of my hair that floated in the air.
I rolled to the ground, quickly forming a hand seal, and threw a Fireball at him to force him back. Then, I abruptly jumped up, grabbed my Peach Wood Dagger, and used the second move from the "Hero Sword Manual."
Silver Saddle White Horse, Swift as a Meteor.
The sword move itself was simple, but as the blade thrust forward, a radiant light flowed from the sword, like countless shooting stars, charging at the man from all directions.
The man's face paled in terror. He had never seen such a sword technique before. He tried to dodge in a panic, but it was already too late.
The starlight pierced his body, splattering blood everywhere.
He fell to the ground, covered in blood, lying stiff and still.
Roman glanced over, his expression changed drastically, and he immediately showed signs of retreat. Yin Shengyao, however, grew even fiercer in battle. Roman waved his hand, sending countless wind blades toward him, but Yin Shengyao blocked each one. Roman took the opportunity to turn and flee through the window.
"Trying to run?" Yin Shengyao's gaze turned cold. "Not that easy."
He suddenly struck out, his Inner Strength forming into the shape of a hand in mid-air, striking Roman squarely in the back.
Roman was thrown forward as if hit by a massive hammer, crashing to the ground and coughing up a mouthful of blood.
Yin Shengyao took a few quick steps forward, stomped on Roman's back, and Roman coughed up blood again, the light fading from his eyes, and he died on the spot.
Yin Shengyao didn't even spare him another glance. He returned to my side, looked at the man I had killed, and said, "This guy should be one of Ivanov's Five Great Generals—Fang Liao, a Martial Artist at the peak of Dark Strength."
He hooked the corner of his mouth and said with a faint smile, "Within just a few days, we have taken out three of Ivanov's major generals. He's weakened now. Huang Chen's backer has fallen, and the Northeast's underground forces are about to change hands."
I said, "I have no interest in the underground forces here. I just want to find the Black Spider Fruit as soon as possible and go home."
"Don't worry," Yin Shengyao said. "With Huang Chen out of the picture, things will only get better for us."
I let those thugs go and was just about to dispose of the two corpses when Yin Shengyao said it wasn't necessary.
Soon the police arrived, and after an investigation, it turned out that both of them were nationally wanted criminals. They took away the bodies and shook our hands warmly, thanking us for taking care of these two scoundrels.
The news that three of the Five Great Generals had been eliminated spread across the entire Northeast overnight, causing a sensation like an earthquake.
That same night, a stretched Lincoln, escorted by six black sedans, rolled into the small town and parked below our hotel.
The door of the stretched Lincoln opened, and an elderly man with a goatee stepped out, leaning on a cane. He wore a thick black padded jacket and moved with impressive energy. Despite his age, he seemed full of vigor, his presence exuding power—a clear sign that his martial arts skills were no joke.
This was none other than the legendary figure of the Northeast, Lord Hu.
"Lord Hu, long time no see," Yin Shengyao greeted with a smile.
Upon seeing him, Lord Hu beamed with joy. "Young Master Yin, I was wondering why I hadn't seen you this year—turns out you've come here. You are truly remarkable; whenever you decide to make a move, it shakes the entire Northeast."
Yin Shengyao smiled noncommittally and said, "After all, I am an outsider. If they hadn't provoked me, I wouldn't have acted."
Lord Hu immediately responded, "For them to be disrespectful to Young Master Yin, even death is too light a punishment." Then, his gaze fell on me, and he said, "This young lady... is she your confidante, Young Master Yin?"
I was wearing a hat and mask, so he couldn't see my face, which made his tone somewhat hesitant. I said, "No, we're just—"
"A friend," Yin Shengyao cut me off, saying, "She needs some spiritual plants, so I brought her along."
Lord Hu laughed, "This is the first time I've seen Young Master Yin bring a friend. Seems like this isn't just an ordinary friend, huh?"
I quickly explained, "No, you've misunderstood, sir."
Lord Hu laughed heartily, "I understand, I understand. Young folks, not quite caught her yet, I see." He looked at Yin Shengyao, "Young Master Yin, this young lady seems nice—not like those gaudily dressed girls out there."
I was speechless. You haven't even seen my face, and you've already concluded I'm a "nice young lady"?
Lord Hu continued, "Young Master Yin, you've taken out three of Ivanov's generals in one go this time. He definitely won't let this go easily. I think you should stay at my place for a while. I've got everything you need ready. Some items are still on the way, but as soon as they arrive, I'll arrange for someone to escort you out of the Northeast. Once you're out of this region, they won't be able to do anything to you."
Yin Shengyao replied, "Thank you for your kind offer, Lord Hu, but I still have some matters to take care of. I wouldn't want to trouble you."
Lord Hu was a bit surprised, "Young Master Yin, I know your martial arts skills are formidable, but Ivanov is a desperate man, capable of anything. Two fists alone cannot beat many hands, especially when guns are involved."
Yin Shengyao responded calmly, "Don't worry, Lord Hu. I won't take risks with my life—I know my limits."
Lord Hu couldn’t say much more and sighed, "I'm getting old after all; I no longer have the drive that young people do. Young Master Yin, if you need anything, just reach out to me. This old man may not have much to offer, but here in the Northeast, I still have some influence."
Yin Shengyao said, "Thank you, Lord Hu. Once I'm done here, I will visit you personally."
After Lord Hu left, the heavy snowfall of the past several days finally ceased. We packed up our belongings, checked out, and headed into Changbai Mountain.
I originally wanted to hire a guide, but Yin Shengyao said it wasn't necessary. We were entering the mountain to look for spiritual plants, and in Changbai Mountain, spiritual plants were the most valuable thing. One spiritual plant could cause even an honest person to harbor ill intentions, and hiring an outsider as a guide could easily invite trouble.
I frowned and said, "Changbai Mountain is huge. Every year, countless herb diggers die in there. We are unfamiliar with the terrain, and the weather is terrible. Going in like this—aren't we just asking for trouble?"
Yin Shengyao replied, "Don't worry about that. I am very familiar with the terrain."
Now it was my turn to be surprised. Yin Shengyao continued, "When I was six, my grandfather took me into Changbai Mountain, and we lived there for six years. During those six years, I explored almost the entire mountain. My grandfather taught me how to identify every spiritual plant in the mountain, and we found quite a few treasures."
As he said this, a trace of nostalgia flashed in his eyes, and there was a touch of melancholy in his voice. "It's just a pity that he passed away too early."
