Horror Camgirl - Ch. 69: Gratitude Becomes Grudge
Later, instead of sending flowers, he began to send expensive medicinal herbs. I couldn't accept them without earning them, but he seemed to enjoy it.
I frowned, wondering if he intended to pursue me.
After meeting just twice, how could he have any feelings for me? Was he attracted to my looks or my medical skills?
In any case, I had no interest in him.
Who would have thought that trouble would find me when I wasn’t seeking it?
One day, as I was swallowing a Cultivation pill, a sudden knock on the door interrupted me. I didn’t want to respond, but the knocking grew increasingly insistent. I had no choice but to open the door, my expression naturally sour.
Standing outside was a middle-aged woman in a black suit, her makeup meticulously applied, exuding an air of competence as she walked straight in.
I was bewildered. Who was she? I didn’t seem to recognize her.
“Who are you?” I asked, annoyed.
She coldly replied, “Are you Yuan Junyao?”
“What do you want?” I asked impatiently.
“I’m here on behalf of Madam Lu,” she said.
“Madam Lu? Who is that?”
“Mr. Lu Qilin’s mother,” the woman replied. “I’m Assistant Yu, and Madam Lu heard that Young Master Lu has taken a liking to you. He’s wholeheartedly pursuing you, and she sent me to clarify things. You and Young Master Lu are too different; it won’t lead to a good outcome. Here’s a card with two hundred thousand; it’s a small token from Madam Lu. Please accept it.”
I was momentarily dumbfounded. Was this really happening to me, like something out of a TV drama?
This felt like a scene from a prime-time soap opera.
“Does Lu Qilin know you’re here today?” I asked.
“Madam will inform Young Master Lu,” she said flatly.
I then asked, “Do you know how I met Lu Qilin?”
“I heard it was when you were buying medicinal herbs,” she said, growing impatient. “Madam Yuan, have you thought it through? If you refuse this money, things might not go well for you later.”
It seemed Madam Lu didn’t know that Young Master Lu was sick, which made sense. A man wouldn’t share something like that, not even with his own mother.
“Please tell Madam Lu that I have no interest in Young Master Lu. He sends people to deliver things and harass me every day, which is very troubling. Madam Lu should take care of her son,” I said.
Assistant Yu looked somewhat surprised. The women she had seen before had shouted angrily, cried desperately, or declared their determination to fight for Young Master Lu. This was the first time she encountered someone completely dismissive.
I glanced at the wall clock and said, “Assistant Yu, you’ve wasted ten minutes and thirty-two seconds of my time. If you have nothing else, please leave.”
Assistant Yu felt a surge of anger. She sneered and said, “I hope you remember what you said today.”
From that day on, I stopped answering the door whenever Lu Qilin’s assistant came.
After staying at home for nearly a week, I was starting to feel stir-crazy. Early one morning, I went out for a walk, intending to hit the gym in the town garden when a red Ferrari suddenly drifted to a stop in front of me.
Lu Qilin poked his head out and said, “Jun Yao, where are you going? I’ll give you a ride.”
I frowned slightly and said, “Young Master Lu, I treated your illness. You provided me with medicinal herbs, and we’re even now. Please don’t disturb my life again.”
Lu Qilin’s expression darkened as he said, “Jun Yao, did my mother send someone to warn you?”
“It has nothing to do with your mother,” I interrupted him. “Young Master Lu, we come from two different worlds. It’s impossible for us. We shouldn’t meet again.”
With that, I turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist, saying, “Jun Yao!”
I frowned and said, “Young Master Lu, we’re not close enough for you to call me that.”
With that, I broke free from his grip. He then asked, “Jun Yao, do you really feel that indifferent towards me?”
I was at a loss for words. Why did he act as if I had abandoned him? I had only helped him once.
“Young Master Lu, there are many women who are eager to be with you. Why waste your energy on me?” I quickened my pace, but I noticed a cold glint in Lu Qilin's eyes.
“What I, Lu Qilin, want has never been unattainable.”
Tang Mingli hadn’t returned from handling his affairs yet, and with the week almost over, I needed to prepare for the next Live Stream.
I looked at the viewers' comments; many expressed a desire to join my Live Stream, even willing to pay a high participation fee. I stroked my chin, realizing this was a great idea—interacting with the audience could generate income and attract more viewers.
However, safety was a concern.
I discussed it with Tang Mingli, and he agreed to allow audience interaction but insisted that participants must be cultivators, martial artists, or ability users, not ordinary people. The chosen spiritual locations also couldn’t be too dangerous to avoid any tragic outcomes.
He said he was almost finished and would return in a few days to proceed.
I had to take a leave from Black Rock TV. The audience was quite vocal about their disappointment, so I posted a message in the comment section announcing the audience interaction. The viewers exploded with excitement, and countless people volunteered to participate. Some even started bidding, with offers exceeding a million within an hour.
There are so many wealthy people.
I shut down my computer and suddenly received a call from the owner of Huizhen Pavilion. He mentioned a seller from Xichuan Province who had a rare herb but was asking a high price that their boss didn’t want to pay. He asked if I was interested.
Naturally, I was intrigued, so I asked for the seller's address and took a taxi there immediately.
The seller was located in the Oriental Star Hotel. I knocked on the door, and a plain-looking middle-aged man answered, saying, “Here to see the herbs? Please come in.”
I glanced at him and frowned. “Are you the seller?”
“Exactly,” he replied.
“Did you dig up that herb yourself?” I couldn’t help but ask.
He replied nonchalantly, “Of course, I bought it from a farmer. You’re not asking which farmer, are you?”
I paused for a moment and said, “Let’s see the goods first. Where are the herbs?”
On the table was a small redwood box. He gestured, “After so many years of collecting herbs, this is the first time I’ve seen such a good one, though it’s rare. Let’s see if you can recognize its value.”
I walked over, and he opened the box to reveal a one-foot-long purple plant emitting a strange aroma.
As I inhaled that scent, I suddenly felt ill and collapsed.
In my dazed state, I saw a familiar figure emerge from the inner room.
It was Lu Qilin!
“Young Master Lu,” the middle-aged man bowed respectfully.
Lu Qilin wore a strange smile as he said, “Lao Feng, thank you for this.”
“Not at all,” Lao Feng replied with a smile. “It’s rare for Young Master Lu to have such an interest in a woman; helping you win her over is indeed a delightful tale.”
Lu Qilin laughed heartily, “This girl is resistant; otherwise, I wouldn’t resort to such measures.”
Lao Feng said, “To conquer a woman, you must first conquer her heart. Now that she’s become yours, after the fact, you can pamper her and buy her favorite gifts. She’ll surely follow you devotedly.”
“Then I’ll take your advice,” Lu Qilin said proudly, and Lao Feng added, “I won’t disturb you any longer.” With that, he picked up the herb box and left.
Lu Qilin looked down at me, unable to hide the smile on his face. He took off my mask and gently touched my cheek, saying, “Jun Yao, I told you, if I want something, I’ll always get it.”
His breath quickened as he lifted me in his arms and whispered in my ear, “Don’t worry; I’ll be very gentle with you.”
“I really didn’t expect this,” I suddenly said coldly, looking at him. “You can know someone’s appearance but not their heart. If I had known you were this kind of person, I would never have saved you.”
His expression changed as I jumped up and pressed a point on his waist, sending a rush of spiritual energy into him. He cried out in pain and collapsed to the floor, staring at me in horror: “You, you…”
I fixed my steely gaze on him. “Now I understand why that martial artist wanted you to be impotent. A scoundrel like you, he merely disarmed you; that was too merciful.”
He trembled all over: “You, you…”
“Indeed, I used the same technique as he did to seal your meridians,” I said through gritted teeth. “I can save you, but I can also make you suffer endlessly.”
