Horror Camgirl - Ch. 99: The Mastermind

Colonel Zeng was stunned.

The officials from the Ministry, along with the city’s epidemic control leaders behind him, were equally shocked.

I approached Xiao Qin, who was writhing on the ground; his stomach was bloated, looking like he was ten months pregnant.

I grabbed him by the collar, propping him up on a nearby chair. Then, I slipped a Nine-ring Detox Pill into his mouth.

The elixir pill melted instantly, flowing into his stomach. In less than half a minute, a strange shrieking sound came from within Xiao Qin's belly.

The sound was eerie, like a mix between a woman’s wail and a baby’s cry, coming from a living person’s stomach. It was chilling.

Xiao Qin shuddered twice, then suddenly opened his mouth and vomited out a pile of black, tar-like substance. The air was filled with a putrid stench. His body went limp, and he fainted.

I moved on to the other medical personnel, giving each of them a pill. With the remaining two pills, I treated the two most critical patients. They too spewed out dark, viscous matter like asphalt before collapsing, their swollen stomachs returning to normal.

Colonel Zeng couldn't believe his eyes. “It actually... worked.”

I turned to them with a smile. “Now, do you believe me?”

“Hahaha,” a hearty laugh came through my earpiece. I instantly recognized it as Huang Shan Jun’s voice. He said, “Girl, that performance was perfect. I loved it!”

Silently, I gave myself a mental victory gesture.

Colonel Zeng quickly asked, “Where did you get this medicine? Do you have more? Can you share the prescription...?”

“This medicine can’t be mass-produced,” I replied. “The prescription was bestowed upon me by my master, and I can’t share it freely.”

Colonel Zeng frowned. “How can you be so politically unaware? This concerns the lives of tens of millions of people…”

I cut him off. “I can brew a batch of the medicine, which will be enough to save these people.”

Colonel Zeng, indignant, said, “Don’t forget, there are still millions outside! The people who left the mall earlier might already be infected...”

“These Ghost-Faced Gu Worms are only simplified versions,” Huang Luzi suddenly interjected. “It seems they were improperly fed or not matured long enough. Once they leave this mall, they lose their infectious nature.”

I was overjoyed. That was excellent news.

Huang Luzi continued, “The Ghost-Faced Gu Worms were fed using the cursed person's own blood. This simplified version can only rapidly spread and infect people when in close proximity to the one who cast the curse.”

“Colonel Zeng!” I shouted. “The person who cast the curse is still inside the mall. I’ll go prepare more Elixir Pills, but you need to send people to capture him immediately!”

“What?” Colonel Zeng was taken aback but quickly recovered. “Don’t try to change the subject. This Elixir Pill’s formula...”

I interrupted him again. “If you capture the person who cast the curse and kill him, extracting the Mother Worm from his body and using a special technique to dispose of it, all the Ghost-Faced Gu Worms will die. You won’t even need an antidote.”

Colonel Zeng frowned, still doubtful. I hurriedly urged, “Quickly, before more people get infected!”

I sprinted deeper into the mall, and the two soldiers forgot to stop me.

“Where are you going?” one of them asked.

“I’m going to brew more pills,” I said bluntly.

Colonel Zeng nodded to a subordinate officer, who immediately followed me. I returned to the shopfront and started brewing the pills again. The officer stood outside watching, but I wasn’t worried about him trying to steal my techniques—he wouldn’t understand them anyway.

When he saw a jade stone emitting flames, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.

Soon, batch after batch of Elixir Pills was completed. I placed the pills into jade bottles. When the officer reached out to take them, I turned and handed them to Xiao Lin instead, leaving the officer embarrassed.

After an entire night of work, I managed to brew twenty full batches of Elixir Pills, saving the lives of those suffering from the poison.

Exhausted, I collapsed onto the sofa in the corridor. I asked Xiao Lin, “How’s the situation outside?”

“They’re still searching for the one who cast the curse.”

The officer, who had been standing by, couldn’t resist asking, “Are you... from Medicine King Valley?”

“No,” I answered dismissively, uninterested in further conversation.

“Your pill-making skills are incredible,” the officer said, clearly excited. “We have alchemists in the military, but none have your speed or success rate.”

He walked closer with enthusiasm. “Madam Yuan, would you consider joining the military?”

“No interest,” I waved him off. Undeterred, he came even closer. “Madam Yuan, don’t be so quick to refuse. This is a great opportunity! Please, think it over.”

“I don’t like being restrained,” I said wearily, leaning back on the sofa. Suddenly, Huang Luzi’s voice came through, warning, “Be careful! He’s a Gu Master!”

A chill ran down my spine. I noticed something wriggling in the officer’s sleeve. Instantly, I rolled off the sofa and shouted, “He’s the Gu Master behind all this!”

Xiao Lin’s expression changed drastically. With a swift motion, he drew a military dagger and lunged at the officer. But from the officer’s sleeve shot out a venomous snake, as quick as lightning, aiming for Xiao Lin.

Huang Luzi warned, “That’s a Golden Snake Gu! If it touches you, death is certain. Girl, use your Cinnabar!”

I grabbed a handful of cinnabar and scattered it over Xiao Lin, the crimson powder covering him completely.

The Golden Snake Gu landed on Xiao Lin, releasing puffs of black smoke.

I rushed forward, grabbing another handful of cinnabar and sprinkling it onto the snake Gu. The snake Gu fell to the ground, writhing and thrashing around.

I quickly turned and threw another handful of cinnabar at the officer. His eyes flashed with a fierce light, and in a blink, he vanished.

What was going on? How could he turn invisible?

Could he also be an Ability User?

“This is witchcraft,” True Lord Zhengyang explained. “Don’t rely on your eyes—use your spiritual sense to see.”

I immediately released my spiritual sense, and under its perception, the Gu Master’s form became visible.

Behind me!

I spun around quickly, flinging another handful of cinnabar, which splashed right onto his face.

He let out a miserable scream, clutching his face and stumbling back, then vanished once more.

I smirked, drawing the peachwood sword from my back. Using my spiritual sense, I scanned the surroundings and found the Gu Master slithering on the ground like a snake, rapidly advancing toward my feet.

In his hand, he held a gun.

He flipped over, aiming the gun at my chin.

The sound of flesh tearing filled the air as the peachwood sword in my hand, charged with spiritual energy, pierced through his forehead, embedding deep into his brain.

A grimace was frozen on his face, and the hand holding the gun fell limp. I took a deep breath, my entire body weakening as I collapsed onto the couch.

Though Xiao Lin had the cinnabar to protect him, the places where the Golden Snake Gu had crawled over still began to blacken and fester. I handed him a Nine-Ring Antidote Pill and said, “Go inform Colonel Zeng that we’ve caught the target.”

After Xiao Lin left, I glanced around to make sure no one was around before quickly pouncing on the Gu Master’s body. I ripped open his military uniform and started searching him, not fearing the poison with the cinnabar’s protection.

“Did you find it?” Huang Luzi asked.

A grin spread across my face. “Yes, found it!” I said, pulling a red stone from his clothing.

The stone looked like any ordinary piece of rubble, yet it shone with a brilliant red hue. Huang Luzi explained, “This is a Gu Soul Stone. Anyone capable of breeding Golden Snake Gu or Ghost-Faced Snake Gu must possess one of these stones. It’s the essence of condensed Yin energy, refined from the blood of countless Gu insects. It’s a treasured item of the Gu Masters. Keep it with you, and you won’t have to fear poisonous Gu in the future.”

I hurriedly stashed the Gu Soul Stone away. “Thank you, Master Huang.”

Huang Luzi replied, “These spicy strips are pretty tasty.”

I couldn’t help but burst into laughter. So, even the aloof Master Huang had a goofy side.

The sound of hurried footsteps approached—it seemed Colonel Zeng and his men had arrived. I quickly tore open the Gu Master’s clothes, drew a dagger, and stabbed it into his stomach.

“What are you doing?” Colonel Zeng shouted angrily.

I replied, “He’s a Gu Master. I need to extract the Mother Worm and kill it.”

Colonel Zeng’s expression turned grim. “He was my most trusted subordinate, who’s been with me for so many years. How could he be a Gu Master?”

“He may not be the person you thought you knew,” I said, reaching to touch his forehead. I then drew a golden needle and pierced it into his crown.

His face began to change, transforming into that of an ugly man.

“This... this is a disguise technique?” Colonel Zeng exclaimed in shock.
